[ mobile, sorry about my first post, i did something weird so my actual IC post never showed up. welcome to riverclan, though! c: ]

The drenched kitten was the next to walk up. She had taken a quick snooze deep in the territory (as not to be disturbed) and the next thing she knew she had woken up in a downpour. Hearing the voices of clanmates, she padded over and came to a halt beside Arcanepaw. Him, she knew. Noctis, she had seen once or twice around but never spoken to. And the raven? She would have tried to hunt it (unsuccessfully, seeing as she was a mere kitten and ravens were pretty big) had she not realized that Arcanepaw and Noctis were talking to it, and it was talking back.

She didn't come in time to hear the raven say she was Ivylee's sister, but she did come in time to hear her say her name- Faye. It was a pretty name, light and fluffy. The kitten shook out her soaked pelt with a small grumble, and then turned her attention to the bird. "I'm guessing you just joined? If so, welcome, I guess. I'm Rosewater, Nurse and Minnow here. A Minnow is a rank here, not a fish. Are you a... crow? " She asked hesitantly. Her mother had told her about crows and ravens, but she couldn't remember how to differentiate them. One was larger, Rosewater thought, but she falsely believed it was the crow.

[center][fancypost=;border:0px;width:430px;text-align:justify;color:pink]Rosewater had never really spoke to Cade, and thus didn't feel a deep loss when she came up beside Sylmae and Ramses. Her nose twitched as she caught the scent of blood, and her eyes widened when she noticed the tufts of fur scattered around. There had been a struggle, that was for sure. With who, though? Of that, the snow-colored kitten wasn't sure. The fur on her back gave a slight unhappy bristle. Sylmae, who she also didn't know very well, seemed pretty sad about it. Maybe she had known him very well or something- Rosewater wasn't sure. What she was sure of, though, was that it was pretty useless to just sit there and be upset. "What happened?" She muttered the words to herself, scanning the area round. She couldn't catch a scent of whoever had attacked and, presumably, taken Cade. [color=#FFFFFF]"We should look for him. He might still be somewhere nearby." [color=pink]Sure, Rosewater couldn't catch his scent beyond where the struggle had happened, but it couldn't hurt to check. What if he was just under a bush somewhere, hiding from his attacker? The white kitten started taking a few steps around, inspecting around trees and behind rocks and whatnot. They were silly places, but it didn't hurt to check.

[center][fancypost=;border:0px;width:430px;text-align:justify;color:pink]The petite domestic cat was the next to skitter up, bringing herself over out of pure curiosity. There was Ivylee, and someone whom she had never met before. They didn't smell like RiverClan, so obviously they weren't part of it. Rosewater's pink eyes flitted to Ivylee; she had already asked the necessary question, and so Rose didn't feel it necessary to say anything else. She wasn't sure if there was anything left to say. Her gaze flickered across the winged creature; it didn't appear to be a bird and, if Rosewater's mother hadn't told her about the creatures out in the world who were winged when they weren't birds or had other mutations and powers, she would have been surprised. But her mother had, and so her expression was simply relaxed as she planted her fluffy butt beside Ivylee, waiting for the angel's response.

[center][fancypost=;border:0px;width:430px;text-align:justify;color:pink]The four-month-old listened as Ivylee talked about the water, her ears gradually going back towards her skull and her tail giving an unhappy droop. What was RiverClan without its rivers? She would have offered to go and ask allies for help, but she was a lazy butt. She had no water elemental powers, and so couldn't help out with that, and she had no solutions for the problem. She was pretty much as useless as one could get in this situation, and she knew it. Her ears gave a small perk up, though, when Mark, Arcanepaw and her were promoted- annnd someone was demoted who she had never seen whatsoever, so that didn't matter to her much. She had to choose; lifeguard or riverguard? She had no idea which, because she didn't know what they meant. "Riverguard" sounded like she would be guarding rivers, and she wasn't so fond of being near rivers (she liked them when they brought water to the swamp, but otherwise no) ever since she had almost drowned. Lifeguard, on the other hand- it didn't specify rivers. So, on a whim, she picked that. "Oh, thank you. I'd like to be a lifeguard." She shrugged her pale shoulders half-heartedly. Rosewater didn't want to ask about the ranks, because she didn't want to seem dumb, so she just didn't. "And congratulations to Mark and Arcanepaw." [color=pink]She tacked on at the end after a pause. She looked around for the other promoted RiverClanners, not seeing Arcanepaw and only Mark, so she just gave a very half-hearted wave to him.

She turned her head toward Sylmae as the piebald husky began to speak. She had been at Rosewater's joining... and she was in a sort of deputy position, if Rose was remembering correctly. Her idea of moving territories would affect RiverClan greatly, but if the water continued to not be there, then that would be a big problem. So, straightening her posture and lifting her chin slightly, Rose said, [color=#FFFFFF]"I agree with her." [color=pink]She pointed with her muzzle toward Sylmae, forgetting her name momentarily and thus simply referring to her as, well, "her".

[center][fancypost=;border:0px;width:430px;text-align:justify;color:pink]Rosewater was the third RiverClanner to appear from the caves, twitching her ears irritably when she saw the BlizzardClanner. Didn't she know that there were such thing as borders? Then again, they might have been less apparent now that the swamp was just a husk of what it had been only a short while ago. Princess Hope and Mark had already responded to the panther, who had spouted something about a masquerade party. That sounded sophisticated and dramatic, both things which Rosewater was a little bit of, but she wasn't sure whether or not she would go- not because Hope was not certain on her authority to let the other RiverClanners go, but because she was pretty thirsty and wanted to go looking for water again. Rosewater honestly wasn't sure whether she had time for such things, although they probably had drinks there... the kitten shook her head slightly. "I guess, thanks for the invitation. Sounds interesting." [color=pink]Was all she said. She still had to decide whether or not to go, but being polite to those who were non-RiverClan seemed like a good idea, so she just said thanks.

[ cause why the heck not. also, retro to drought. if you don't know what this is then it isn't literally just having your character's personality being the opposite of what it normally is for this thread. ]

It was like someone had injected happiness and bounciness into Rosewater. The kitten was clumsy and careless, accidentally tripping on her own paws as she cheerfully padded around the caves. She picked herself up with a short laugh, shaking her head at her own silliness. [color=#FFFFFF]"Woops! Mannn, it is such a nice day." [color=pink]It wasn't actually that much of a nice day (it was a tad overcast, a little chilly), but as she looked out from the caves on to the swamp, Rosewater was trying to look on the bright side. She bounced on her feet, tail giving an perky and excited twitch for the day that lay ahead of her.

The kitten gave a little leap on her paws when Mark came over, scolding her harshly. Normal Rosewater would have taken it to heart, even if she didn't show it, but this happy little kitten just giggled happily, sending a grin toward Noctis when he defended her. "Yeah, come on! It's still a beautiful day even if it's overcast! What's ADHD stand for?" She asked, eyes brightening up a significant amount. "Let me guess- Animals Don't Have Diaries? That's true! I don't have one! Do you?" [color=pink]Holy crap, she could not stop talking, and every word was bloated with sweetness. It was sickening. [color=#FFFFFF]"Do you have a diary? Because if you don't, and you want one, I could find one for you, I bet!" [color=pink]She turned to Noctis, ears perked up energetically. In addition to acting like she was on a sugar high, she was a generous child. She lived for others, basically.

[center][fancypost=;border:0px;width:430px;text-align:justify;color:pink]If Rosewater ever lost her tail, or any one of her other limbs, she would, most likely, totally freak the fuck out, complete with rolling on the ground and loud screeching sounds. So when Rosewater ran over, having heard Ramses's initial shouts and also having scented the smell of blood, there was a sort of respect she had in her for the fact that Ramses was not rolling on the ground or screeching. But she also felt it was almost under-dramatic and, being surprised by the fact that Ramses no longer had a tail, but instead just a bloody stump where it should have been, she injected a bit of drama into the situation by exclaiming, "Oh, god! What happened-" She cut herself off when she caught the scent of BloodClan, almost buried under the smell of blood, but not quite. Her tail fluffed up to almost twice its size in alarm, and she looked around, but there were no BloodClanners around. Just Mark, Ramses, and Himiko. It was then, when she paused for a moment, that she processed what Ramses and Himiko had been saying. The BloodClanners had motherfucking taken Ramses's tail.

"They snuck in and cut off your tail? That's... just, eww. Are they cannibals? Would they take it so that they can eat it or something?" [color=pink]Rosewater suggested unhelpfully, a small frown on her face. She put two and two together with the "cut off" part- it was obvious that it had been done with a blade. Rosewater's voice was almost disbelieving as she stared at the scene, and she shook her head faintly. It was then that she noticed Mark, having already taken care of the wound with cobweb and marigold. He wasn't even a nurse and he was doing her job, not that she was sure if she was any good at being a nurse. So far she had pulled a knife out of someone when she wasn't supposed to, and that wasn't a great start to her medical career.

[color=#FFFFFF]"Can one of you get poppy seeds?"[color=pink] Rosewater asked Himiko and Mark, coming to her senses. Sure, Ramses had cobweb and marigold on his tail wound, but that wouldn't help the pain. Rosewater had thought she was inexperienced with herbs, but so far it seemed that marigold, cobweb, and poppy seed were the basic ones for wounds. She still knew nothing about sickness, though. [color=#FFFFFF]"BloodClanners are assholes. I can't imagine having my tail chopped off. Can't they give you a damn break?" [color=pink]She rambled, ending her sentences with a little, delicate sniff. Ramses had already been captured by them, and now they were taking his tail? Rosewater disliked them strongly, more strongly than she had expected to. It seemed that she actually cared for other RiverClanners. Huh.

It seemed that Rosewater was the first to appear, the almost ghost-like white kitten appeared, having been summoned by Hope's telepathic call. She was no stranger to telepathy, since Planty had used it solely to communicate. So, when she heard the call, she wasted no time sitting around trying to figure out why words had popped into her head. She had pranced over, and there she was, head held high and pink bow clipped delicately to her ear. She sat down near to the unicorn, pink eyes watching the other animal. Rosewater didn't quite know why she was there, because all Princess Hope had said was to meet, but she had decided to go with it. Now that she had arrived, though, she asked. "Hello, Hope. What's going on?" She asked, briefly wondering in an anxious moment whether this was about her ripping the knife out of Ramses. Rosewater looked around for the other nurses, but not had appeared so far. The kitten felt a surge of pride as she realized this- she wa the first to respond! Of course, only Rose would be ridiculous enough to make a contest in her own head of who could get to the medicine den first.

Rosewater had been doing what she had been doing for the last couple of days; looking for a steady source of water. So far, she had found none, but she did find the border, with Ramses, Noctis, and an unfamiliar wolf on it. The wolf looked relatively normal, his fur a shade of snow-white, just as Rose's was- wait, nope, relatively normal did not describe the canine at all. "Your tail... is that natural?" As was common for the four-month-old, she lacked a filter sometimes. Rosewater knew of mutations, but this was just fucking weird. The newcomer had a damn crocodile tail he was lugging around, and it wasn't like he was carrying it- no, that thing was damn attached to him.

Casting a glance at Ramses and Noctis that said "what the fuck", she turned back to Crocodilepaw. He seemed fine in personality, and fine in appearance other than the crocodile tail. That was just weird, in Rose's opinion. But she had to put that past her and respond to the joiner. Noctis had already covered some of it, but Rosewater felt the need to add in other detail. "The river is dried up. We have a drought." Her voice was flat as a pancake as she motioned with a paw toward the unpleasant landscape. "Since you appear to be joining, though, welcome... Croc. I'm Rosewater, a nurse and lifeguard here." She raised her chin a bit, obviously proud of her ranks. She still couldn't get over the crocodile tail, though, and as soon as she finished speaking, her eyes flitted back to it.

[center][fancypost=;border:0px;width:430px;text-align:justify;color:pink]Oh, lord, they were fighting! She was just about to offer the timid Ramses a diary when Hope announced she was taking over the clan and Arcanepaw started fighting her. What were her clanmates doing? "Don't fight each other! Don't be mean! Please! I'll give you both diaries if you stop!" She wasn't sure if she had that many diaries, but she was sure she could find them in the town. She just wanted them to stop! As Ramses didn't want it to happen either, she pointed one paw at him. [color=#FFFFFF]"He doesn't want you to fight either! We should just all be friends!"

[center][fancypost=;border:0px;width:430px;text-align:justify;color:pink]She let out a surprised squeak as Ramses spoke about BloodClanners roasting his tail, hardly processing it as a joke, and made one of the most disgusted faces one could possibly make when he mentioned that BloodClan had corpses upon the border. She would have said something, but then Giovanni and Hope approached and Ramses started talking with Hope. The white kitten's head snapped back and forth between the two, watching as the conversation went on, coming to a conclusion where Princess Hope was heading back to camp with Himiko and Giovanni and Rosewater and Mark were staying with Ramses. Great.

Once the three had gone, Rosewater turned to the direhound, trying not to flinch when she sighted, once again, his bob of a tail. He had bounced back from having his tail chopped off quite quickly. Meanwhile, Rosewater would have still been on the floor, screaming her head off. She had a question on her mind, though, and it slipped off her tongue. "Who's Quill, exactly? Your brother?" [color=pink]She had scrounged that up from Mark saying "Ramses' brother" and Hope saying "Quill". Ramses had said something about him when he had returned from BloodClan- that Quill was one of them. Although there was all evidence that he was Ramses' brother, she just decided to double-check.

[center][fancypost=;border:0px;width:430px;text-align:justify;color:pink]The drought was fucking annoying. Most of Rosewater's time consisted of sleeping in the shade of trees, trying to ignore the dry landscape around her, or searching for a significant source of water- so far, none had showed up. It was really pissing her off, how the river hadn't started running again- not that she liked the river, exactly, because she really didn't. If it weren't for Ramses, she would have drowned in it so, thus far, she had not had very good experiences with it. But she liked the drinkable water that came with it, giving life to plants and providing the swamp with water. Without it, it looked sad. A dry husk of what it had once been. The two things Rosewater really appreciated about the drought was that the swamp didn't stink as badly and it didn't have as much mud. The white-furred kitten had been, in fact, investigating the swamp, padding around tree trunks and sniffing the air, her whiskers twitching, as she tried to detect the scent of water. So far, she had found nothing. But she had heard a pretty weird sound- maybe a bird call, maybe not. Rosewater's natural curiousity made her want to go figure out what had made the sound.

So, the petite feline went on the move, stalking through the swamp quicker than she had before. Her ears were pricked up, eyes searching the trees as she forgot to look for any damn water. She was just interested in what sort of bird had made that sound. Rosewater was so focused, actually, that she wasn't paying attention to the roots and ditches that the swamp offered. That was her mistake. One of her tiny, pink-padded paws caught on the root of a tree and she tripped, sending herself rolling down a small, sloping hill, straight into... a thorny bush. No leaves were currently on it, the drought having taken its toll on the plant already, but it still had the thorns.

Slamming straight into a thorn bush hurt, Rosewater discovered. It also hurt when she tried to free herself, halfway into the bush with her fur snagged around the branches, bad enough that she stopped struggling almost immediately. She couldn't twist around to free her fur and, although she did hate to admit, she was stuck. Stuck in a thorn bush. She tried to wiggle around a little more, tried everything possible that wouldn't result in huge clumps of fur being ripped from her body, but it was no use. It was an embarrassing situation, that was sure, but it made it even more embarrassing because she needed help. "Is anyone around?" Rosewater called, her voice sounding just the tiniest bit desperate. She didn't want her clanmates seeing her like this, stuck in a damn thorn bush, but unless she wanted to spend the rest of her short (she wouldn't last long without food or water, after all) life in a thorn bush, then she needed somebody to come help her, as much as she hated to admit it. When there was no response, she tried again, louder. [color=#FFFFFF]"Help me! Anyone?" [color=pink]With that, she would huff indignantly, and wait. Maybe someone would come along.

[ aka i try to do something meaningful for rosewater's 100th post and end up with her stupidly tripping into a thorn bush ]

[center][fancypost=;border:0px;width:430px;text-align:justify;color:pink]The white-furred feline had scented water, and she was over there in a flash. The drought had taken a heavy toll on both RiverClan's territory and its members, and it hadn't been a while since Rosewater had gotten a good, substantial amount of water in her. The lifeguard came to a stop beside Ivylee and Ramses, watching the two unfamiliar animals- a cougar and a domestic cat. They were both uniquely colored, the cougar being darker than average, and the cat being... blue. That was strange, in Rosewater's mind, but she said nothing of it. After all, she had pink eyes, so who was she to judge? The kitten had no idea who the two were, but Ivylee and Ramses seemed to be friendly toward them. The two strangers carried the scent of other animals on them, like they lived in a clan. Rose put two and two together and guessed that they were from another clan- an allying one. But she didn't care much about that- she cared for the water. "Wow. Is all the water for us?" [color=pink]Rose blurted, trying not to get her hopes up. Maybe they were just saying hi and the water was actually for themselves, although that would be a damn mean move. [color=pink]Her gaze flitted over the cart and barrels, tail giving a small twitch.

[center][fancypost=;border:0px;width:430px;text-align:justify;color:pink]One can not imagine the relief that Rosewater felt when she heard Ramses's pawsteps. She had, for a brief moment, though that she was going to be stuck in the bush until she died. That appeared not to be the case, though. The kitten gave a small wriggle as the direhound approached, in one last attempt to free herself before Ramses would have to, but it was no use. The relief faded away after a moment and then Rosewater was feeling embarrassed as hell. Great, Ramses, who had already saved her from drowning, was going to fucking save her from a thorn bush? Why couldn't it be someone else? Because now she felt like she was in debt to him. "Can you just- can you just- just get me out of here, please." Underneath her pelt, she felt like she was burning, maybe because of the thorns, but surely partly because she was embarrassed.

It didn't get any better when Crocodilepaw approached. She hardly knew him, but now there was more than one RiverClanner there? Great. Rosewater wanted to look down at her paws to avoid eye contact with anyone, but that would probably tear a small clump of fur from her cheek fur, so that wasn't an option. Instead, she frowned, realizing that Crocodilepaw had said something wrong- well, it wasn't actually wrong. He was using the phrase "in a pickle". That was perfectly acceptable. But Rosewater assumed he was attempting to say that she was in a prickly bush, or a prickle. So she "helpfully" corrected, "No. I'm in a prickle. This isn't a pickle bush!" [color=pink]It was an accidental joke that Rosewater didn't even realize was a joke.

She didn't notice the fact that the white-furred wolf was actually not as sympathetic as his expression seemed, but she did notice that he made a damn knife appear out of nowhere. Rosewater would have jumped in surprise had she been not in a bush, but she couldn't jump in the bush, so all that happened was that her fur bristled a little bit. It was quick to smooth down, though, as she realized Crocodilepaw had just used conjuration, and the knife was for getting-her-out purposes. Not stabbing, or anything like that. [color=#FFFFFF]"Okay, if you're going to use that, be careful! I don't want to accidentally be stabbed while you're trying to free me." [color=pink]Rose huffed hurriedly, her ears going backward and successfully getting poked by thorns. Great, she couldn't even move her ears without getting hurt.
