( ajdhjas i'm sorry i didn't reply to this very quickly !! if i do this again,,, like bump the thread or message me because this happens wayyyy too often lmao )
reina was not having a very good day. she'd just been sent on a mission of sorts but, after darting into what looked like a broom closet because footsteps were steadily heading towards her, but when she'd exited? the hallway hadn't looked the same. and she hadn't been too alarmed at first, maybe she'd accidentally stumbled into a teleporter. they were commonplace, used to get from one place to another quickly. so she'd obviously just been moved. maybe it was a different part of the building.
upon walking around, though, she realized that this didn't look like the government's headquarters at all. it just looked like .. a building. some random building. and when she darted out of sight of some people, they weren't wearing the typical government outfit: bright white and almost blinding, it looked soft but was truly hard as steel in order to prevent assassinations. she wasn't in the building anymore, that was for sure. but she couldn't remember ever seeing outfits like these before. dull colours, nothing like the bright ones of today. because the brighter your clothes, the more likely you would be noticed- that was hard to achieve when the land is as crowded as it is.
however, going the way that the people had come from, she emerged from the hallway into a large area where there were tons of people. and she was glad she wasn't wearing clothes that she would've worn some other days, the metallic yellow ones that hurt her eyes. because of what she was doing, she had been wearing simple black clothes, ones that gave her freedom to move as she pleased instead of restricting her. and these clothes helped her fit right in with this crowd. not one neon shirt in sight. and no one had disgusting eye makeup on that made them look as white as paper with bright colours accentuating even the slightest feature, no one had hair the same colour as their clothes. everyone looked about as dull as they could be.
wandering through the building looking completely awed, she couldn't really tell where she was. there were large signs above doors, some saying things like american eagle, or chapters, or justice. words she knew, but why were there clothes inside two of those stores? and why on earth would they look like that- selling clothes such as that was a terrible way to make a living. no one would buy them.
deciding she might as well see what was truly behind these doors - maybe the 'glass' was all illusions? - she hurried to one. but she wasn't keeping her eyes in front of her, they were glancing this way and that, trying to see something that would give her a hint to where she was. an american was an old-time thing, before new leaders emerged and nations were formed, countries taken over- so why it was here, that was a bit of a mystery. she found that her eyes stared at that sign a lot more than at anything else, even the people didn't get as many stares. their clothes were weird, sure, but she'd been taught that clothes like that didn't deserve a second glance.
however, this soon proved to be a bit hazardous, as she felt herself collide with someone as she entered the room. she'd been going maybe a bit fast in her haste to see what was in here, so she couldn't stop herself from stumbling and even falling onto the ground, her gaze turning upwards in slight fear now. she almost expected someone from the government to be in front of her. but it was just a normal person- wearing the same kind of clothes that everyone else was. "oh- i'm sorry!" she apologized quickly. "i wasn't looking where i was going- it's the same as it was from outside?" her attention had drifted elsewhere, seeing that everything on display was exactly what she had seen from the outside. so it wasn't an illusion, then.
