blackcanary busied herself with marking the border, unable to help but eye the exchange. quirking a brow, gray eyes would shift from feline to feline, interested in the gossip like some queen in the nursery. not only were they in different clans, but lightningpaw was also fairly younger than this fem.
glancing at foreststar, who seemed to be in no rush to interrupt the exchange, the ivory feline carried herself a little closer, still wearing that pleasant smile as she regarded the girls - both of which were easily young enough to be her own children.
at the mention of this fem attaining deputyship, she decided to interject herself, hoping to stop things before this conversation got a little too friendly for the sides of the border they were on. "how is nightgaze? and doestar?" she inquired of the entirety of the riverclanners gathered, though her eyes were on the feline who'd been having a back-and-forth with lightningpaw. "i hope they're in good health?"
blackcanary sat there, hovering near the back, as passive as she always was. meetings... they happened. good news, bad news, it came and went and hardly ever effected the femme much.
she was getting reading to congratulate someone, whoever it may be when the cheer caught in her throat. her eyes widened. her jaw went slack.
wait, what?
deputy. her. no, no, this wasn't happening. she wasn't the deputy type. she was just that one person off in the corner, doing her thing, just kind of existing in the white space. she wasn't the authortative type. no, she was a teacher, but that was where it ended.
"thanks." came out, though. she wasn't sure about this, wasn't sure she'd ever belong up there, but she reminded herself that this was foreststar. she'd be long dead before the leader - this fem was made of solid steel. nothing would kill her, not for good. all she had to do was spend a few moons, maybe a few seasons, sending out patrols and telling people what to do and where to go and how to act, like she usually did, only on a larger scale. after that? she'd die. maybe by a bloodclanner, or a fox, or the river. she'd die, foreststar would find the next shiny thing, and keep on living forever.
