[center][fancypost=bgcolor= transparent; bordercolor= transparent; height:; width: 420px; font=; text-align: justify;]Jaycall arrived quickly, and the others weren't long in following him. Tatteredstar sat patiently, trying to discern if enough cats had arrived. He'd quickly gotten used to the feeling of so many eyes on him, but the knowledge that they were all waiting for him still prompted some nervousness.

Once Hailpaw had arrived, he motioned the young tom over. "Hailpaw, can you step forward? You've already received your apprentice name and began training in the ways of the warrior code. It's time for you to receive a mentor. Poppyblossom, can you come forward? Until Hailpaw is ready to become a warrior, you'll train him."

Not that long ago, Poppyblossom had become a warrior. Hailpaw would be her first apprentice, but he didn't doubt that she would do well. Pausing a moment, partly for effect and partly so that the two had time to step back, he declared, "I've chosen a deputy."

[center][fancypost=bgcolor= transparent; bordercolor= transparent; height:; width: 420px; font=; text-align: justify;][font=plantin][size=12]How they'd ended up near WindClan, of all places, when Minnornose had suggested RiverClan wasn't something Tatteredstar was sure he understood. As they'd left the camp, he'd hung back, walking near Jaycall, so that Hailpaw and Minnownose could keep toward the front of the patrol. That only seemed fair, considering that they'd brought it up.

Hailpaw's question made his whiskers twitch. It was easy to tell that he was a new apprentice; he still believed the stories reserved for kits. Tatteredstar wasn't sure just why they felt a need to demonize the other clans, but it was traditional. Perhaps it was supposed to make meeting them in battle easier. "Why would they want to eat kits?" he broke in.

It looked as though he was going to say more, but Jaspereyes' arrival stopped him. Glancing between the WindClan warrior and Minnownose, he asked, "I suppose you two met at the Gathering?" StarClan, let that be the case. Minnownose was a good warrior, but if they'd met anywhere else, he'd be forced to worry about her commitment to SkyClan.

Glancing back toward Hailpaw, the tabby agreed, "It depends on the clan. If a rogue seems sincere, I usually give them a trial period to see letting them join would be a good idea. Thrushstar was more open—she let just about everyone in." He hadn't liked that, although he himself had joined during her leadership.

[center][fancypost=bgcolor= transparent; bordercolor= transparent; height:; width: 420px; font=; text-align: justify;][font=plantin][size=12]Telling stories sounded more like an activity for elders than warriors, and Tatteredstar approached doubtfully. It was impossible to miss Sedgekit's entrance, and anyone who was paying attention would have noticed that he subtly altered his path; whereas if he'd continued where he was, he would have ended up besides his daughter, now he stood besides Poppyblossom instead. It wasn't personal, but he was still coming to terms with fatherhood and wanted to approach it cautiously. Offering the kitten an amused grin, he agreed, "Yes, go on, Sedgekit."

[center][fancypost=bgcolor= transparent; bordercolor= transparent; height:; width: 420px; font=; text-align: justify;]In the second between making the announcement and actually appointing a deputy, Tatteredstar let his eyes rest on the Clan below. There was no dearth of options: Foxdancer was the most senior warrior, although she'd just kitted. Rosetail was also one of the older ones, followed by Jaycall and Poppyblossom. Each had their strengths and each had their flaws; which one best complemented his own leadership style while still remaining a good candidate? He'd been faced with this question before, by his previous deputy, and he hadn't expected to be faced with it again—at least, not so soon.

His choice, he felt would not be popular; of course, if that was the case, it would only be an issue if the cat he wanted accepted the position. If she didn't...well, there were other choices. "I say these words before StarClan so that the spirits of our ancestors may approve of my choice. The new deputy of SkyClan is Poppyblossom."

The warrior code stated that no one could become a deputy if they hadn't mentored an apprentice. By that standard, Tatteredstar didn't think that Poppyblossom fit the bill—but wasn't the warrior code left open to interpretation? A looser analysis meant that as long as the potential deputy had started training someone, they were eligible; he'd been careful to give Hailpaw a mentor before choosing a deputy for the reason. Turning to the she-cat, eh continued, "You're still a new warrior, Poppyblossom, but you keep a cool head, and although you fulfill your duties, you don't neglect your clanmates. Do you accept the position of deputy?"

[center][fancypost=bgcolor= transparent; bordercolor= transparent; height:; width: 420px; font=; text-align: justify;][font=plantin][size=12]These days, the area between SkyClan and the city was so well traveled by both SkyClanners and BloodClanners that it was nearly impossible to tell where one group's territory ended and the other began. Tatteredstar had just gone hunting, but upon returning to the camp, he found that he didn't want to simply sit down and eat. He hadn't been to BloodClan's Blue Forest in moons, but at this point in the session, it would be something spectacular. It had been close to dead in winter, but now the ground would be covered in a carpet of bluebells, and the trees would be bright with soft green buds.

"Anyone want to head to the Blue Forest with me?" he asked, glancing around the camp. Tatteredstar would prefer company, but if no one here wanted to come along, he'd see if any of the BloodClanners did.

Once he'd received a reply, the massive tabby turned and began heading toward what had once been the border separating the two groups.

// so basically, this is an au where skyclan and bloodclan are kinda merged/have an alliance, one that's been going on for a while, and they're all just very chill with each other.
I'm gonna be inviting our bloodclan buddies over as well, so yeah

[center][fancypost=bgcolor= transparent; bordercolor= transparent; height:; width: 420px; font=; text-align: justify;][font=plantin][size=12]She accepted. Tatteredstar let out a breath he hadn't realized he'd been holding. That was one headache dealt with. Hopefully, Poppyblossom would start organizing patrols soon, and things would be running as smoothly as they had in Thrushstar's final days.

As the murmurs died down, he continued. "I'd also like to formally welcome Batpaw, Wolfpaw, and Flukekit to the Clan." He just hoped that ShadowClan wouldn't hold it against them that they were taking in their apprentices. SkyClan's relationship with ShadowClan wasn't an especially close one, but they had allowed their medicine cat to help train Wasppaw. "I'd like a volunteer to hold a climbing lesson for the kits, and someone else to hold one for apprentices and warriors. Otherwise, dismissed."

[center][fancypost=bgcolor= transparent; bordercolor= transparent; height:; width: 420px; font=; text-align: justify;][font=plantin][size=12]Jaycall's offer clearly pleased Tatteredstar, and he graced the younger male with a satisfied smile. "Thanks," he agreed, and scanned the crowd to see if there were any volunteers for the other session. It wasn't as important; most of the older animals were already good climbers, but in case of an emergency, the kits had been be able to reach the safety of the trees.

    yeah, we do

meanwhile, tat's not in that thread because he would just make everyone more nervous by jumping around and freaking out
"she's just a baby how's she up there help oh starclan she's gonna die get her down she'd gonna fall no one breath"

[center][fancypost=bgcolor= transparent; bordercolor= transparent; height:; width: 420px; font=; text-align: justify;][font=plantin][size=12]Could she ask what business he had? Oh, she was certainly welcome to ask, but the implication that he had to discuss his business with her first didn't exactly please Tatteredstar. He'd said that he wanted to speak to Audenine, or whatever name he was going under now. That ought to have been enough. That ought to have told her that he wanted to speak privately, discussing what concerned them as the leaders of their respective Clans. Stiffly, the male replied, "Our relationship."

[center][fancypost=bgcolor= transparent; bordercolor= transparent; height:; width: 420px; font=; text-align: justify;][font=plantin][size=12]Poppyblossom was taking her new duties seriously; watching her, satisfaction and pride bloomed in Tatteredstar's chest. For all he'd worried over the decision, she was taking to the job of deputy like a fish to water.

His satisfaction only increased at the sight of Jaycall responding to his daughter. Bloomkit. It almost hurt to hear that name. She'd been named for his first daughter, who'd accepted him as family despite the fact that he'd been absent all her life. She was with StarClan now, and although they hadn't spent more than a few moons together, the loss had hurt. Jaycall knew exactly what to say to the eager kitten: he'd make a good father. A better one than Tatteredstar, probably.

Padding over, he nodded to Poppyblossom, both acknowledging her effort and signalling that he could patrol, if more cats were needed. That accomplished, he bent down to Bloomkit and, nodding toward Jaycall, whispered, "Why don't you show us how you deal with badgers?" If Jay could forgive him for setting a kit loose on him, he was better man than Tatteredstar had taken him for.

i've spent the whole weekend writing a paper
    can't believe it's finally complete

haha, yeah, i've never had a cat, but my sister has a rabbit, and it freaks out whenever she tries to clip its claws

[center][fancypost=bgcolor= transparent; bordercolor= transparent; height:; width: 420px; font=; text-align: justify;][font=plantin][size=12]//sorry for the late reply, i was out for a few days

Ear flicking as Wasppaw repeated the stranger's name, Tatteredstar glanced down at his grandson. Had there been a note of familiarity in there, or did something about the name just surprise him? Was there something going on, something troubling Wasp? If the cream apprentice was having any troubles with the other Clans...

Subtly shaking his head, he refocused on Wolfpaw as she began explaining. ShadowClan. Tatteredstar liked to think that they were on decent terms—after all, Loststar hadn't objected to letting his medicine cat train Wasppaw. "And you don't want o return?" he asked, but a glance at Batpaw was enough to give him a partial response.

From Wolfpaw's joke, she was family to Batpaw, and Tatteredstar knew all about leaving home to join family. That was the sole reason that he was here, instead of in his birthClan. If that was her reason—although she'd seemed so surprised at the sight of the other apprentice—he could understand it. He could agree with it.

"No surprise there," he told her. He'd spent some time as a rogue, and life had been been about survival, about strength, not about listening to some tiny cat sass you. "And you want to join." And really, even if ShadowClan doesn't think much of them, taking one of their apprentices would only make it worse, but he already has Batpaw, and they're family. "Keep in mind that you might end up fighting your friends or family members." That was something he knew about, too, but it had been worth it. It had reunited him with his kits.

[center][fancypost=bgcolor= transparent; bordercolor= transparent; height:; width: 420px; font=; text-align: justify;][font=plantin][size=12]"All cats old enough to catch their own prey, gather beneath the meeting stone."

It had been too long since he'd last addressed the Clan. There wasn't much good news, but there wasn't much bad news either, which, in Tatteredstar's mind, was more important. The worst meeting he'd held had been his first, when he'd had to announce Thrushstar's disappearance. After that start, how could things do anything but look up?

// once again, if anyone needs a ceremony, let me know in an ooc note
