(is this set in a modern time period?)

"Greetings!" a ginger pedestrian gently tilted their head at the traveler, attempting to invite a conversation "Looks like you've gotten around!"

"Woah!" the ginger jumped back a pace "Heh, only friendly people here right? Sorry if I startled you." they smiled a bit timidly and shifted on their feet, they didn't appear to have a weapon with them.

They returned the handshake easily "My name is Taylor! It's a pleasure to meet you Alalia." Taylor smiled wider and gestured towards her bag "so you travel?"

Their eyebrows raised "Really? any reason why? Not to pry or anything"

"Holy crap that really sucks." Taylor's smiling demeanor disappeared suddenly "Who else is helping you? Don't tell me you were going to fight her on your own?" they glanced around the tree, hoping to see another sleeping person.

Taylor thought about that for a moment "Then I guess I'm going with you." they turned back to Alalia "I think I am now physically incapable of letting you leave alone. It would haunt me for decades." they seemed to be asking permission, a bit assertively

"And I tend to talk too much! I'll go pack" Thay took a few steps towards the main road before stopping "Do you want to come with?"

Track! And I have a question; are we allowed to create our own species?

Taylor smiles "Sweet!" They start back towards the main road "Wanna play a getting-to-know you game? It's a five minute walk."

"You ask me a question, anything like 'what's your favorite time of year', or something, and then I ask you a question, but we can't ask the same questions twice, you go first?" Taylor offered

"uhm, I like exploring mostly" they grinned "good thing too huh? OK, my turn" Taylor thought for a moment "Can you do any magic?"

"Nope, But I have a cat, I think. He's mostly my cat I'm not really sure actually." Taylor pointed to a small two story house about ten feet away "That's my house. um, What do you do for money?"

"Oh I barter, I'm a bit of a collector. And I think I would play the drums! I really like the sound of percussion." they walked up the steps and opened the door to their house, there was a lobby almost cluttered with chairs, couches, a small table, and small shiny, or rust covered miscellaneous items that Taylor seemed to have picked up from the ground and displayed on any flat surface, or put in jars, or baskets. They flushed slightly and added "A collector." under their breath then stood aside to let Alalia in.

"Yeeaaaa." They sigh and step into a living room, this room is home to statuettes, vases, various small bookshelves and some runoff from the front room. and a lean black cat curled up on the main couch "If you don't want to come upstairs, you can sit on the couch with Grendel and ill be down in a minute or so" Taylor flashes a smile and sprints up the stairs, leaving Alalia to make her own decision, and to hurry up and get packing.

The cat yawned in return and lazily streched out so it's feet were in Alalia's lap and it's stomach towards the celing. Footsteps, and drawers can be heard from upstairs, and after several minutes Taylor comes bounding down the stairs, in more adventure-suited clothes, a packsack and a short sword sheathed on their back "Okay! I'm ready, before we leave do you need anything?"

"Alright then." Taylor smiles and opens the door again " After you." They mock bow for a second

Taylor shuts the door with little flourish, locks it, then makes sure the door is properly shut "Which way? I mean I sorta just jumped into this but do you have a plan?"

Taylor glanced at the map and then at the road " I doubt you'll want to play a getting to know you game all the way there" they chuckled a bit

(Do you have any plot for what happens along the road or are we just going to wing it?)

"eeeyaaaeh." They paused, glancing at a couple walking on the other side of the road "we could walk in silence, I guess. we could also trade stories. Or you could let me talk for three hours about nothing in particular"
