The scent of a place unfamiliar would hook upon Ace’s nose, his mind whirring time what was going on. Usually, this signaled a joiner, but was it? The golden retriever’s nose would guide him, albeit it not being as good as he’d like. When he saw the figure of Lucius come into view, a metaphorical brow was raised. Who was this? Why were they just waltzing into camp? With a small stride, the heavily wounded canine would move to sit down nearby, investigating him. "Who are you?"

[ Ghoulian W.A.   rosie! , was given permission to powerplay ghoulian's torture. feel free to post before them both ]

The male had taken the purge with stride, really. It was an opportunity not even he could refuse. As such, when he came back hauling not one person, but two, he felt pretty content. One of them had been a former Exiler, a run away. He had decided to take up living in the Cartel, probably because of something his son did. While he didn't blame the male for it, he had to admit, he was rather dumb to go live in the Cartel. Irregardless, he had him in his clutches now. As such, he would brutally toss the first one down, tightly bound so as to not escape. He was unconscious still, and it was a wonder the Golden Retriever had gotten him all this way alone. Though, his joints would definitely pay, already having a stinging ache in them.

Next came the practical piece of prey. They reeked of the Sanctuary, and were rather young. While he wouldn't be hurting this one, he was going to make her watch every bit of what he did to the Cartelian. She was left awake, practically dragged on the ground by a rope all the way there. It was likely she sustained some very minor scratches, but Ace took no credit for that. No, she was here for the mental anguish of observing someone be torn apart.

"Get up," he snarled to Ghoulian, slamming a paw into his ribcage to awaken him, his eyes cold and calculated.

"Pass me something," is all the remotely quiet Second Tier says, approaching with calm and collected eyes. His body has finally begun to heal from the cluster of wounds that coated him. Due to this, it was much easier for him to limp over and meet up with the one he considered a son. The male would sit down silently, awaiting the drink to hopefully be passed his way. He wasn't the most patient, so he hoped that since he was waiting he was given something strong. After all, alcohol and drugs were basically his way of life right now.

Nik has to be one of the only kids Ace could remotely stand. He was generally quiet and did what he was told. Those were two qualities good enough for Ace to like him. Even now, as his voice faltered and tears swelled up in his eyes, Ace felt a particular fondness for him. Trudging close, he looked at the child and cocked his head. "You are fine. This is normal," he tells the boy, bringing his head down and attempting to gently nudge him. Was this a form of comfort? Possibly. It was all Ace could do, considering he wasn’t the emotional type.

Going to various bars downtown had been a regular pastime for Jackson. It was his solace, his area of comfort in this midst of a city far too big for him to handle on his own. His favorite time of day to come get drinks was the dead of night, where he was unlikely to see anyone from his department. One could tell Jackson, or rather Ace, was exhausted every single night. Even when he had gone home, cleaned himself up, and returned to the streets, his face would refuse to hinder the exhaustion clouding his aging mind. Jackson could hardly remember how old he was, what, forty-six now? God, it was hard to believe Jace was older than him. The wearing effects of the detective lifestyle had certainly taken a toll on his looks. Where he once excelled in appearance, flashing a face of exuberant youth, was now a gruff five o'clock shadow and bags under his eyes large enough to decipher from a distance. Yet, he still made it a habit to go out and drink every night. That, was how he ended up here.

His hands found the way to the door of Red's Bar, albeit a bit hesitantly. It was then that the man, a mere five foot seven, would clamber up to the bar silently, tossing himself upon a bar stool. His short, deep chocolate hair was a mess, and the rain he had wandered in still dappled his clothes. Right now, he was wearing a pair of deep blue jeans and a black tee with a tan jacket over it. "You know how to make a 'Zombie' by chance, Arya? Extra Absinthe, preferably," he would ask of her, the gruff tone of his voice laced with a sandpaper-like sound. He had countless times ordered such a drink elsewhere, a mixture of rum, absinthe, and falernum. It was strong, the only drink to knock a man off his feet in a couple sips.

While he waited, he glanced around the room coolly. His eyes befell his brother, who he would acknowledge with a simple nod of his head and nothing more as he waited.

    "leave me alone."

Old bastard? Well, that wasn’t how Ace would describe himself. He could use a whole slew of impolite words to describe his very existence, but bastard likely wouldn’t be one of them. Even so, he always came to the coo of his name. This time, he teleported over to greet them, a solemn eye landing upon the figure of a relative. Though, he didn’t recall their name. "Yes?" he asked softly, awaiting an answer as well as his brother and grandchild.

    "leave me alone."

The golden retriever watches as she lashes out and strikes his nephew, and it’s with this that anger permeated his face for the first time in months. He wasn’t sure what got into him, considering he never had cared for Kell before, but he moved forward hastily, and just as he was about to strike her, Cass stepped up. The canine fell back in line, his eyes narrowed into unforgiving skits at the female. "Worthless whore," he mutters under his breath at Oceana, turning his head away so he wasn’t compelled to lurch forward at her again.

As Ghoulian shouts at him, a typical response of a lowlife prisoner, Ace shrugs. He doesn’t care if this is hurting him, and he certainly doesn’t care for wishful retaliation. Nevertheless, the canine would smirk, and swiftly slam a paw into his gut one more time for good measure. After all, the more winded the Saluki was, the easier it made this on him. "Why are you so loud?" he asked with a tone of annoyance lacing his voice. It was then that his eyes, narrowed as ever, would clamp shut, and teeth would sink down to bite into Ghoulian’s tender flesh, ripping up a small chunk of skin along his side. Crimson trickled down his maw, curling over his lower jaw as he swallowed the flesh. It seemed even his son’s presence wouldn’t stop his activities.

Ghoulian’s retaliation only brought a plethora of anger into his heart. The electricity simply wouldn’t do. As such, he flickered on his emotional manipulation sending waves of extreme fear through Ghoulian’s mind, hoping to overwhelm him into submission. His eyes would cloud over the more the saluki fought, the more Ace hated to hear him speak. So, he would solve this how he thought best.

He would move in close, grabbing Ghoulian by his front leg. Then, he would sit down on Ghoulian’s leg, taking his paw into his mouth. In one swift movement, he would yank backwards on his leg and simultaneously stomp on it, repeatedly at that. With each stamp, he felt his leg resist and spring back until it couldn’t anymore. A sickening snap resounded through the area, signaling the breaking of a bone. His eyes are still the same, agitated and cold as he steps off Ghoulian, moving close to his face. "If you can tell me anything useful about the Cartel, I’ll consider leaving your other legs intact," he remarks casually, before glancing to Rosie, whom he is making watch everything. Telepathically, he would reach out to her.

If you scream, I’ll tear your jugular out, kid.

[ tw for moderate depictions of gore ]

Go eat ass? Well, that wasn’t very nice.

It was with this simple thing that Ghoulian spoke, that brought anger into the mind of Ace. It was with this, that he would let out a guttural snarl, sinking teeth into the Saluki’s leg and ripping it, tearing flesh and fur from bone. The more Ghoulian struggled, the more he intended for him to suffer. After all, he was the one in control. In comparison, Ghoulian was worthless. He was nothing but a plaything in Ace’s brain.

    "Have it your way."

With this, Ace leaned down again, this time taking hold of his forelimb from just below the socket. He found a good place to latch on, sinking teeth into tender flesh as he twisted and yanked, pulling harder and harder. Slowly, he yanked the leg out of its socket, before turning off and returning with a blade. It was insanely sharp, one he had stolen from the Cartel when he stole Ghoulian. Then, in a slow, agonizing instant, he began to slice through Ghoulian’s flesh, ripping and tearing all the way through. When he was done, he had one of Ghoulian’s limbs in tow.

"Tell me what you know if you want to live," he tells Ghoulian plainly, holding the blade very close to his heart.

Ace was avid on getting Hebe to remember something. He had brought her here because her death..it wasn’t meant to be true. The spirits had guided him to Hebe, albeit his reluctance, and he was intent on following what they told him. It was true that he had hated Hebe, but this version of her, so much less religiously pushing, was tolerable. Even as she questioned every turn around every nook they made, he found her much more tolerable than before. The last question she asked, he had intended to answer. Lucky for him, Don stepped in.

"Hebe," he responded for her, halting to allow her to meet someone. Ace knew this one would be unfamiliar in some way, and his eyes would meet Don’s with a sort of casual expression beyond them. Frankly, he didn’t care for the formalities of conversation right now. He just wanted to get her re-acquainted.

Ace feels himself calming, that is, until Naomi is struck either the licking flames.

    "STOP IT!"

The first time Ace has truly screamed in a long time, his body moving quickly forward to jump and try to throw Naomi out of the way. It was with this that he would snarl at Oceana, attempting to send both waves of intense fear and dozens of overlapping, screeching voices at the prisoner. It was then that he would move in, and attempt to slam his paw against the side of her face.

    "leave me alone."

Much like those who had prior gathered, Ace didn’t show much emotion. He was very stoic by nature, not one to speak or care for much. Yet, every time a joiner appeared, he was there. Was it simply because it was required of him? A likely possibility. Ace maneuvered his way through the crowd, coming to stand next to Naomi in a somewhat default protective manner. His eyes narrowed into slits and his teeth barred, staring at this newcomer with little patience.

Being that he was the one to give Siej the task, of course he would arrive to see it in action. Taking long strides, the elder golden retriever would prod into the bandannas, taking up a blue one. He was on the opposing side, which he didn’t quite want. However, he would accept this. Trudging further from Alaksiej, he would nod his head and sit down gingerly, awaiting any sort of clarification that he could begin.

Another task done meant Ace was to arrive. His eyes trailed up and down the statue, and then he glanced to Cass. Where many would ask who the statue was, or why she had chosen to sculpt them, Ace didn’t particularly care. As long as the task was done, no matter how she managed to achieve it, it was good enough for him. Eyes darting back to the statue, he nods his head silently. He remains in this silence, not voicing approval or disapproval.
