    "What'cha reading?"

She was almost too naive for the things she was capable of. The kitten could summon great boars to burn down camps, could summon lesser demons to do her bidding, and even more that she herself did not know of yet. And yet, she still didn't understand that many had a problem over her and her actions.

    Like how Duncan had.

The kitten was bouncing on over, her all-too friendly grin on her maw as the tome of spells bounced right on her back from a strap wrapped around her belly.

    "A-Aunt Echo..?"

The small, warbling voice was right next to her mother, bristling a little with the sudden stab of anxiety to the chest. Why was she leaving? Who would leave the best place on earth for..loners? "D-Don't leave Auntie, don't go. I won't want you to go! Why?!" Nebulacub couldn't understand it, and looked up at her mother for any sort of guidance. "Mommy? Mommy why is she leaving? Why won't you s-stop her?!"

If Jaq left, she knew she'd do anything in her power to keep her here.

The kitten stumbled up next to her sister, smiling as she watched the stranger on the border. But despite how cheerful she looked, her eyes held a hint of wary caution. She had been burned by those she believed to be nice and whole people, like ShadowClan and ThunderClan. She wasn't about to deal with that again, nope.

    "Sis! What are you doing?"

Nebby was a cub, but a very studious one at that. So seeing all of these pretty plushies around her, she couldn't help but giggle at her sister's misfortune. Her eyes trailed towards the ground the plushies were sitting underneath, seeing the ever-so-familiar marks of a summoning circle. Her smile faltered a little. "Sis...are you trying to summon something like me?" While she sounded cheerful, there was some seriousness in her tone. A first.

She had an older sister? It took a little bit for her to process this information, but when she did the smaller cub grinned as wide as christmas coming early. "Oh, hi! Hi! Who are you? Where are you from? Why do you smell funny? Why aren't you in RiverClan?"

Despite the war between RiverClan and ShadowClan ending, she still felt the need to do this.

As a Riverguard, she had to be effective in fighting and combat, right? That's how it was always projected to her, and while she could switch at any time she felt that it was ungrateful to toss or change away what life had dealt her. She had to get better at combat, and until that time arrived, she had to rely on the most unnatural forces imaginable to protect and shield her from danger.

But the problem with relying on forces unimaginable was that they were never what you expected.

She watched the burning prey, dripping with her own angelic blood, and waited. Waited. A flash of green was the first sign that something had gone terribly wrong. The spiny, clawed hand that dashed right through her circle like it was rice paper was the second. And the face, the soulless, ashen face with a look of hunger was the final warning.

The claw started to squeeze any bit of life from her throat. The cub couldn't move, couldn't breathe. She was beginning to see the shadows creep to the edges of her vision.

OOC: Please don't post until Kermie posts <3

"Don't you see Jaqie? It's a party!" The kitten tried her best not to squeal, her paws bouncing up and down as she made her way close to her sibling and mother. Despite her standoffish nature that makes her not get personal with others, she loved, loved, LOVED parties.

    "DADDY!"

The cub squealed, her breath escaping her while the clawed hand continued to choke the life force right out of her. "Don't....I...it..." It was more powerful than she could control. Oh by the dark below, was this how die was going to die? "I'm not even a Warrior yet!" She thought, yellow eyes closing as her body began to go slack with the lack of oxygen.

But as soon as Cade attacked, something neither of them expected happened.

The clawed hand threw down Nebulacub, leaving her dazed. The dark eyes of the demon latched onto the avisor, a grin slowly cracking up it's face as an idea formed in it's mind. The demon latched it's claws onto Cade, aiming to drag him into the portal with it.

"Do you have magic there too? Is it watery like RiverClan? What do you do there, is it nice? Can we visit her too, mama?" The cub was throwing out questions left and right, her starry tail twitching back and forth with a giggle. It was all too exciting for her, since everyone else but Jaq had disappeared.

That wa what broke Nebula. Seeing her father vanish through the portal, the portal she unwittingly helped create, and go to..to who knows where and...and he could be hurt, scared, maybe even killed..."And it's all my fault." The thought stabbed into her head, causing her body to shake with terror. She may have just killed her father. "Daddy's gonna come back. No he's not. He's gonna rot there forever and it's all my fault because I'm not strong enough!"

"D-Daddy..." The kitten hiccuped, her tiny claws digging straight into the ground as her gaze was only where her father was last.

    No.

Nebula will be the scourge of RiverClan and there's not damn thing anyone can do about it lol

Also if anyone wants to totally blame NEbula and hate on her for what she did that'd be great <3

Nebula was frozen to the ground, shock controlling her limbs to remain still. She could barely hear everyone over the blood rushing through to her ears and blocking any hopeful thought. White paws trembled against the ground and she let out a steady whimper. The physical pain of the claws marks in her neck were gone, but who was going to make her okay mentally? Who had the power to take this hurt away? "D-Daddy...I didn't..I didn't mean...I..." She spoke, getting even faster with each nervous breath that entered her throat.

    "I..I don't want a medic. I want daddy...I want..my..daddy!"

The kitten still shook, but she managed to hear what her sister was saying. "I-I...Okay. Just...ma..make sure my Grimiore is safe, okay?" She asked her sister, looking at her with pleading eyes while her paw was clutching the book at her side. She looked back down at it, a renewed sense of hope in her heart. The solution had to be in there, didn't it? It was written by someone who knew what they were talking about, it had to know the answers.

But the whimpered and draped the cloak over her head again. She didn't want anyone to look at her, at her failure and what it caused. She didn't even notice the whispered conversation between Jac and Mae. If she had caught that..oh there would have been hell in a handbasket.

The kitten didn't know how to help.

She was the one who cause her father's disappearance, and yet...and yet Mae didn't blame her for it. "Why?" The starry cub had blamed herself over and over, well into the night and dawn, for what she had done. She had been so miserable that she hadn't even checked where her sister had put her tome of spells. But that was just a book. This was her mother.

A mother who should hate her but didn't.

Nebby made her way over to her mother side silently, her ears flat and her gaze downcast. She attempted to comfort her mother by pressing herself against her flank. She didn't care that she was a dog at all. Only that she was happy.

While many had gone to Mae and Jaq to comfort them, Nebby had been nowhere to be seen.

The weight on her chest was destroying her. All she could think of was what she had done, what that demon had done, and the fact that she did nothing, nothing, to free him since. Partially, she was afraid of what she would find. Maybe a charred corpse, maybe another demon would crawl out by mistake, or maybe...maybe the demons would do something terrible to Cade before coming back.

But even if she did do something, she knew the clan would scorn her. They already thought of her powers as a terrible thing to do, and the portal incident had only sealed the deal. RiverClan would never let her practice magic again. "But what am I supposed to do then..?" Magic was all she knew how to do, the only way she could do anything as her position as Riverguard. They were supposed to fight, and yet she was always too small to fight. "Why did Ivylee promote me if I can't fight!"

She had stayed, huddling in her nest and resting on top of her cursed book. They hadn't taken it away. Yet.

The small daughter would have normally been glued right to Sylmae's side to meet this joiner, but with her accident, she now stayed behind in the shadows. She couldn't be near her mother now. Not when she caused so much pain for her. But her bright yellow eyes could be see from the bush she was hidden inside, watching the two with curiosity and a small bit of hurt.

Nebula's yellow eyes looked back up at her mother, flinching slightly away from her and looking back at the ground. She didn't answer her mother's call for her, but she couldn't ignore her sitting near forever. Her eyes flickered back towards the book, her tail snaking along it's spine in contemplation. If she decided to continue this path, she had to keep it safe from everyone. Especially her family.

"..Mommy?" She finally spoke up, hesitantly. "Why..Why did Ivylee make me a Riverguard?"

Nebula had been silent during the entire exchange, watching with nervous, yet inquisitive eyes. Her mother had made a contract with someone? A bit of annoyance boiled into her blood. "Its...Its..." She tried to think of a word for it, something she had learned recently. "Hypocritical." Nebula had all sorts of demons she was contracted to, and yet Mae can have one and it be okay. Or was it? Her ears flattened when Fish began yelling at her mother and her fur bristled. How dare HE? She wasn't about to let anyone badmouth her parents. Never!

"Stop talking my to my mom like that!" She fianlly yelled out while Sylmae was leaving. In a way, she was touched that Syl seemed to still care about her even though she made her father disappeared. It was enough to fuel her out of silence. "Shes sad cause she misses my dad, something I did! If you wanna yell at someone, yell at me cause I hurt her! Just don't yell at my mom!"
