Halfstem sat down nearby the elders' den, pawing the ground slightly. He was nervous, as he had just joined the clan a while ago. He was unsure about others' feelings towards him, which always had made him uneasy. His eyes glanced upon everybody nearby, returning back to his paws every now and then.His stress was clearly showing, regardless of his efforts to hide it; pawing at the ground, twisting his tail, and frantically trying to focus on something with his eyes, yet failing to do so.
The elder was simply a writhing furball, he hadn't felt like this in a long, long time.

"Oh! Hello, I'm Halfstem. I haven't been here for long, so that's why you probably haven't seen me." The short tom babbled clumsily. He attempted to ease up a bit more, now that another cat was paying attention to him. He was surprised to see such respect coming from anyone, especially taken to note that he was a former kittypet, but nevertheless, he was glad to have some friendly company. His overall posture slumped down, making him look his self again, instead of like he had seen a badger. -

Surprise simply glowed from the tom's face as the white warrior approached and offered the freshkill. Halfstem nodded and smiled at the she-cat, happily taking the mouse, as he figured it would be impolite to refuse. "I didn't think I'd receive such warm welcomes and greetings! Thank you so much. Guess I owe you a fresh kill now?" He mewed in a jolly and joking tone, chuckling, before biting into the mouse. He hadn't even realized his earlier stress had made him so hungry. -

"Are you completely sure? I'm willing to do anything for kind youngsters." Halfstem meowed cheerily, yet half joking due to his condition. "I'm fine, thank you for asking! Leg's been a bit sore, but it's alright. Nothing to be worried about." He continued, lifting his right leg, or what was left of it. He was much more calmer than earlier, which you could easily tell from his posture and tone of voice. He appreciated such young warriors coming to his aid, even when he did not exactly need it. -

Halfstem politely greeted all the other cats, delighted he was given so much attention. Although, as the olive-eyed apprentice approached, the twinkle in his eyes dimmed slightly. He felt it was best not to start arguing with Brokenhowl, even though he felt that he scolded the young apprentice a bit too much, so he turned to the young newcomer. "Look, I could hunt very well on my own, it's just my condition makes it harder, but not completely impossible. And yes, I'm old, very old. I was born a loner before being taken in by twolegs." He mewed in a more serious tone, but not letting his jolly mood drop down completely, he continued. "My life was very easy, I was completely carefree, and I was taken care of, just like now. After all, kittypet life isn't that much different from warrior life, though I wasn't given the chance to hunt much, but some of my friends did." He chuckled at the child, before turning his ears to Pouncetail, signing that he heard her and understood. He had dealt with some nasty youngsters before, so he didn't let Adderpaw's remarks bother him too much. -

His whiskers twitched and he let out a small chuckle when he saw the apprentices playing, as seeing youngsters have fun always made him happy.[/size][/justify]

"Kids these days just get sillier and sillier, don't they? Although a little bit of mischievousness every now and then isn't bad." Gazing upon everybody and wagging his tail, he smiled, showing a few of his yellowed teeth, and went on with his lighthearted banter. "But y'all are still kids, aren't you? Or at least, you're a lot younger than this ol' kitty!" He knew he was bound to get on someone's nerves eventually, but that didn't bother him much.[/size][/justify]

[size=14px]Halfstem came out of the bushes, surely causing some ruckus, narrowing his eyes at the other cats. "Listen, I might not be the senior of y'all's, and neither am I that accustomed to the rules, but shouldn't you youngsters be at camp?" He was patrolling nearby camp earlier in order to get some exercise, and heard meows coming from not too far away, so the stocky short tom had headed there. He paused his gaze on Mossflight for a moment, before returning his eyes to the apprentices again, chuckling. "But I suppose it's alright since you attracted this much attention, so no worries. You even caught these ol' ears."[/size][/justify]

[size=14px]"Oi, you alright?" The elder almost jumped at the sight of seeing the large tom fall over to the ground like that, and rushed over as fast as he could, clearly concerned. "You should never work too much like this..." He leaned over the maine coon, attempting to examine his breathing, even though he wasn't even close to as good as a medicine cat, he figured he could help at least a little bit. He sat down, and moved the toms head with his healthy leg, trying to wake him up somehow, as helpless as his attempts were. "Do you know what happened?" The elder mewed at Mossflight frantically, he definitely didn't want anything bad to happen to the large dark furred tom, as he wouldn't want to anyone.[/size][/justify]

"Though, there are dangers in kittypet life, too, such as the thunderpaths, dogs, and loners, if you're let outside that is." Shrugging and smiling in a silly manner, he had to really think hard before saying anything, he didn't want to upset the young ones. There were many differences in everyone's lives, and he happily acknowledged that.[/size][/justify]

Smiling at the other cats, especially the apprentices, he mewed; "Oh don't you youngsters worry, leaf-bare is going to be over sooner than you know it, and if not, you'll eventually get used to it." The elder chuckled at the end, knowing that wasn't going to stop them from complaining about the cold, which was completely understandable in his book.[/size][/justify]

He chuckled, lying down and watching them drag the mouse, and giving the freshkill a gentle shove a few times in an attempt to assist the youngster. He didn't expect an answer, as they were still young, but the whole sight warmed his heart, knowing how energetic kids were these days.[/size][/justify]

Halfstem lied down in the cozy warmth of the elders' den, closing his eyes, listening to the sounds of other cats coming from outside. His paws gently tucked underneath his chest, head up and ears directed to the entrance of the den, he sighed in relief and relaxation. His mind was completely free from all worry, instead filled with pictures of his kittypet past, which oddly, he missed a little bit. He knew he was happier as a free cat, but the eternal warmth of the twoleg place wasn't that bad either.
Mostly he missed his former friends and playmates, but those days were long gone. He had new friends. A new family. A new chapter in his life, which he enjoyed to his fullest.

Turning to Cinderkit, the elder smiled widely, showing her how proud of her diligence he was, and then turning his gaze to Spottedpaw, nodding in agreement. "You're all just so active today! What gives?"
