[fancypost borderwidth=0px; width: 450px; text-align: justify][size=8]apprehension strikes their chest as their nostrils flare, inhaling what little of the territory they can catch on the wind. winter is in the air, killing the leaves and chasing away summer heat, bathing over their tongue with a satisfying chill. they smell moist earth and mushy snow, newly deceased growth and blessed frost. another scent, stronger, rises as well, messes and teases their taste buds and nose. there are people here. disgust taints their thoughts, and they pause, uncomfortable.

they know a group lies ahead, and groups have always left a rotten taste in their mouth; a taste that brings the thought of the putrid stench of a decaying corpse to their mind. the image of one flashes to the front of lapis's brain and they find themself grimacing and baring their fangs. thoughts run rampant, thoughts that they cannot comprehend, although they are their very own thoughts. the words do not make sense to their brain, a jumble of syllables that leaves them with an ever-growing headache.

they hate groups, but they do not turn around. they hate companionship, but they crave to be surrounded. they don't know why.

the land decays and dies with the seasons; the grass yellows, the trees wither, the wild flowers wilt. they expect nothing less, even appreciate how snow kills off the remnants of spring and summer. lapis settles on what she hopes is a border ( the smell of people is strongest here ) and waits, closing their useless eyes and perking their ears skyward.
