[fancypost borderwidth=0px; width: 450px; text-align: justify][size=8]apprehension strikes their chest as their nostrils flare, inhaling what little of the territory they can catch on the wind. winter is in the air, killing the leaves and chasing away summer heat, bathing over their tongue with a satisfying chill. they smell moist earth and mushy snow, newly deceased growth and blessed frost. another scent, stronger, rises as well, messes and teases their taste buds and nose. there are people here. disgust taints their thoughts, and they pause, uncomfortable.

they know a group lies ahead, and groups have always left a rotten taste in their mouth; a taste that brings the thought of the putrid stench of a decaying corpse to their mind. the image of one flashes to the front of lapis's brain and they find themself grimacing and baring their fangs. thoughts run rampant, thoughts that they cannot comprehend, although they are their very own thoughts. the words do not make sense to their brain, a jumble of syllables that leaves them with an ever-growing headache.

they hate groups, but they do not turn around. they hate companionship, but they crave to be surrounded. they don't know why.

the land decays and dies with the seasons; the grass yellows, the trees wither, the wild flowers wilt. they expect nothing less, even appreciate how snow kills off the remnants of spring and summer. lapis settles on what she hopes is a border ( the smell of people is strongest here ) and waits, closing their useless eyes and perking their ears skyward.

[fancypost borderwidth=0px; width: 450px; text-align: justify][size=8]being blind isnt necessarily a bad thing, and doesnt have to be viewed as a casualty. for them, it takes away one advantage but gives them several more, such as advanced hearing and smell, taste and touch. with their sight hampered, sea has had their other senses upgraded, which could amount to something if she attempted to actually do anything with it. they dont necessarily want to be blind, but eh, when life gives you lemons, you make lemonade, yeah? they flick their ear when someone approaches, someone smaller than her judging by how soft and light his pawsteps are, even if they are subtly dragging through the snow. he's tired. they dont need to have working eyes to see that, and they turn their head toward him, a fabricated brow rising when they're addressed, "seamonster lazuli-gem. im joining on.. this lovely day." the weather is relatively peaceful, and other than the icy nips that come with winter, all is calm. so yes, it is a lovely day. or something. maybe. to each their own. "you can call me lapis, too." she tacks on, her head turning toward tama and, upon hearing the others conversation, finds herself agreeing with her. there are moments in time where sleep is hard to come by, which they could understand, but actively avoiding it is pointless and stupid, even. there is probably a reason behind that, too, but sea doesnt care much for "excuses" such as those.

their head turns toward grunt a, and they briefly ponder on his name, finding it odd that he is labeled like that. well, its none of their business so they dont pry, nodding at his voice, "as well as you.. homie." the word feels word on their tongue, thick in their mouth, but before they can get another word in another approaches. quite obviously a child, from how her paws pattern the ground and the squeak that rests in her vocals. and like them, she's blind too. it nets their interest, "im seamonster, and i am.. a deer.." they stomp their hooves for emphasis in a swift, gentle march, "with wings and feathers..." lapis ruffles their feathers, briefly extending their feathery appendages and rattling them, "and antlers." thats the best description they can give to the child, since this body was born blind and they never did have a good enough handle on their shapeshifting abilities to return to their old one. "and im joining." they echoe, having caught kamari's words and deciding to fill her in. "so. can i stay? or do i have to go through some sort of initiation to be counted 'in'?" the last bit is a joke, and they dont doubt that a smart ass reply will come their way. actually, they hope so. It'll make things interesting.
