what should bleak and shiver's dynamic be? they're def besties and i get the feeling that bleak would do a good bit of the talking! although shiver probably doesn't shut up if she's excited or interested in something since i want a bit more outgoing character, since both her and roanne are quieter just bc i tend to be as well lol. i just imagine she isn't sure where to start with newcomers, but is pretty comfortable with anyone else in the tribe who has been there for a while. but is bleak gonna be a calmer outgoing or a bit more excitable/fidgety like shiver can be?

- bleak and shiver are best friends, and both individually felt pressured to take on a mate and have kits- so they tried it out. the problem was, bleak is gay and shiver wasn't romantically interested in bleak at all, and neither really knew exactly what they were doing, having no experience of romance whatsoever. after a lot of awkwardness and mishaps, they talked it out and decided that their foolish decisions really hadn't been the best ones in the interest of their own happiness, but shiver began showing signs not too long afterwards and winter was fast approaching. it turned out to be a very accidental litter, but both shiver and bleak love them regardless and remain good friends.

- both reside within the tribe of frosted skies (tofs for short) and these kids will have been born there- here is the guide. tofs was born of a divergence of the tribe of rushing water a very long time ago and are due to soon merge with torw to introduce new roles and renew interest in the tribe as it tends to be one of the smaller boards in the traditional game!

- they are welcome to have physical abnormalities or disabilities (i.e. born missing an eye, born blind in one eye, born with a slightly twisted paw, etc.) caused by a lack of enough food on shiver's part during a harsher than usual winter.

- there is a naming theme of plants or winter (the season they were born in) and they can be given loner style names like bleak has (still nature based and not humanlike names like dmitrios and sasha), or they can have tribe names like shiver does! these tribe names would not be based off or around animals, as that is a tendency of the torw and tofs tends to prefer nature and flower names if using the tribe style. here is a list of tribe names that you are free to pick from or if you would just like some inspiration, but you do not have to use them!

hey guys ! so there should be a new torw (and tofs) mass adopt thread up soon- but first, we need some litters to entice people to want to come to the tribe ;o

keep in mind that we don't want to be flooded with a bunch of kits, so older litters are appreciated as well ♥️

drawing a pale tongue over the scrunched up face of one of their young, a gentle humming in the back of their throat accompanied them as they gave their children a thorough grooming before bedtime. the kits whined about it, yes, but they sure weren't going to be the ones to find all the little tangles behind their ears, were they? soon enough, as the sky darkened in preparation for twilight, the pale young lady finished pulling out burrs with their teeth and smoothing their long coats, giggling in response to something one had said.

affectionately brushing their milky furred cheek against each of theirs, shiver bid them a good night and spoke, " please get some sleep, and remember- i have watch duty tonight but i'll see if bleak will sleep with you guys instead, that sound okay? "

a smile settled soft upon their lips as they slipped through the tall grasses that surrounded the temporary nest where their children lie, and past it into the clearing beyond. they could still hear them chattering away mutedly, yet to calm their excitement from today, always intrigued by the new creatures and sights they saw with each new dawn. though they felt their body still as they listened to the words of one of their tribemates, dew evaporating into mist, but the gentle smile remained and they direct it at dew and bleak as quiet footfalls bring them closer.

they greet dew with a brush of their feathered tail against her side, " it'll be alright, dew! " they begin, " they'll be back, as they always do. i wouldn't worry too much, though i know it's your nature. " they give a chuckle at that, so she knows it is merely a little jest.

thank you ! i do have a couple questions though:

- i've always been a bit confused about what cameo means and what it stands for phenotype-wise?

- i also don't know much about caramels/apricots, is there a tortie/torbie version of apricot or does it not work out genetically? or is it a secondary color like red tabby to something else?

- and do any of the dmab kits have smoke options/do any dfab kits have any apricot colors? or does apricot function like red tabbies in that they have to be homozygous to be an apricot tabby and not a tortie?

- will the silver torbies be silver tabby and red tabby or black-silver and red-silver? or are the latter called something like black-silver torbies and the former are what is usually called silver torbies?

- how does smoke affect torties? is it that the "base" that turns into smoke and the "secondary" color remains normal, like black smoke and red tabby?

this turned out a lot longer than i expected and i understand that it's a lot to explain so if you don't wish to, that's okay !!

* dfab: tortie, dilute tortie, caramel tortie, tortie smoke, dilute tortie smoke, caramel tortie smoke, torbie, dilute torbie, caramel torbie, silver torbie, dilute silver torbie, caramel silver torbie, or any of those with low white

* dmab: red tabby, cream tabby, apricot tabby, red cameo (red-silver), cream cameo (cream-silver), apricot cameo (apricot-silver), or any of those with low white

* all tabbies will be ticked tabbies, can vary from heavily ticked over the body or only having markings visible on extremities.

* kits with white can have any realistic eye color. kits without white can have any realistic eye color except blue.

* all kits will be longhaired or mediumhaired (genetically the same).

the hues of dying sunlight danced across their bony figure as they shifted gently with the breeze; it's the kind of thin that comes from a lifetime of running towards an endless horizon, their slim paws having passed through an innumerable number of forests, moors, and mountainous country with many more leagues to go. each footfall was guided by their ancestors through the star-whisperers that had come before them, before bleak, but they couldn't deny now that they felt a little lost without the ancestors by their side. maybe it was for a purpose that the tribe had yet to understand, but they had faith in their return. they would come back, they knew it with a confidence that knew that they would see the sun rise with each morning, as the moon would rest in its cradle in the sky-- and even if they were masked by clouds, they were there. they would be back.

" that's true... we can't stay here for long, all the prey here has retreated into their burrows it seems, " but without the ancestors to guide us, will we be alright on our own until they come back? it is the duty of the star-whisperers to commune with their ancestors and guide them across the lands, from camp to camp, endlessly and without fail, they know this. it is not an easy task, one made much more fraught with peril by the tribe of endless hunting's silence, and it continues to worry them on quiet nights. " oh i almost forgot! do you think we should travel with the sun on our left shoulder come morning, or more towards the sunrise, bleak? " their gaze turns to him, their partner, their best friend. he must be worrying more than they are right now, if he had forgotten to discuss the travel plan for the next day like that. he knew that they'd forget too easily, distracted by taking care of their kids, making sure everyone was doing alright, that their morale wasn't getting too low, anything that would keep their mind and paws busy.

shiver wasn't a big fan of sitting around and doing nothing, maybe a side effect of moving around so much? it was definitely a reason why they had struggled with their training as a star-whisperer when they were younger, but they had learned to love that too, in time.

a familiar golden shimmer caught their eye and they studied their sister, honey, for a long moment, growing quiet. they knew that their parents weren't as proud of her as they were of shiver, despite being a star-whisperer and not a herb-hunter like much of their family had been, that it just hadn't worked out for honey. it wasn't her fault, but her sister, if nothing else, was a stubborn girl who didn't like to forgive others, shiver included. they weren't sure what to do about it, how to bring it up, to patch their relationship back together. yet they note the presence of hail beside her sibling with a smile, glad that she had friends here. they would hate it if honey ever felt unwanted or useless enough to decide to leave.

any litters that y'all would like to throw in would be real helpful! we don't have enough litters to put up a mass adopt thread yet, but if you guys would like to help out we would really appreciate it ! ♡

- i assume that the tofs is likely to wake early in the morning (perhaps not long before the sun rises, fluctuates in tune to the rise and fall of the sun year round), a select few waking up even before the rest to catch prey for the queens and younger cats, those who are still growing and cannot subside off of one meal a day like the adults can ( these roles may typically belong to the regular members of the tribe but whoever wishes to may do as they will, and are a shared responsibility, traded around equally among the tribe, the same cat never allowed to 3 or more days in a row to preserve their health ).

- it is normal for the tofs to travel from early sunrise to the start of sunset at the very latest ( any later and the risk of encountering crepuscular and nocturnal predators rises exponentially ), beginning to search for a good campsite in the late afternoon hours as the temperatures begin to decline, drinking from whatever water sources they can find when they come upon them and sometimes setting up camp near to the water source ( perhaps the ancestors helped to guide them from water source to water source as needed, and the tribe has taken to carrying mossballs soaked with water during hotter summers ).

- as the new camp is settled into, herb hunters and hunting parties set out to comb the area for food and to replenish the herb stock ( which is really what the tribe can carry with them as they travel ), the children given time to rest before their energy resurfaces and they spend it playing, and those who need treatment ( minor wounds that only really need to be redone daily, sicknesses like coughs and such are treated as need be during the day, etc ).

- during times when queens are nearing their time of kitting, the tribe ( and especially herb hunters and those with herbal knowledge ) keeps a close eye on them, watching for miscarriage and slowing as need be to accommodate them during their travels. the tribe tries to find a secluded, safe place near a clean water source to settles for two to three weeks before the queen(s) are expected to kit and then remain there for another two months and then begin to travel again, at a slower pace to allow the young kits to keep up and slowly get used to the travel pace. somewhere between three and four moons of age ( and depending on each individual child ), they can usually keep up with the tribe's usual pace.

their wilding's fur--tousled by fierce, sweeping winds that sought to hold them back, to slow the great bounds hungry strides consumed, pursuing a breathless high that always followed after their limbs ached something painful and their footfalls lost their surety--were evidence enough of where the star-whisperer had ventured off to earlier in the eve, racing the hinterland's horizon and the sun that had begun to set. a habit that had not failed to continue from her youth, always searching for the weariness that settled deep in her soul, left their limbs still a little sore the next morn, though a smarting that faded with rising of the sun. they had found it a good way to release any pent-up energy that gathered under their fur, the bite growing stronger and more insistent until it was, at last, released, until their limbs dragged leadenlike all the way home, a friend to the airiness tugging at the heart battering away in their chest.

a soothing torpor lacing their blood, the young lady slowly padded closer to tonight's campsite, not a care in their thoughts for wild, tangled fur and briars that would later trouble them.
