I honestly can't stay away from riverclan though. I don't know what it is, but I really love you guys so I came back again with this old dood again. wildpaw is still alive and I'll get him to pop in here every once in awhile aha

The male sighed, his green eyes scanning the territory around him. This was not what he remembered to be his home. This couldn't have been riverclan. But sadly, this was what it had turned into. After almost a two full years of being gone and wandering from place to place, the tabby knew that things would be different.

He didn't expect anyone to come rushing to his side or to even give a friendly smile. It had been so long since the last time he visited riverclan, and even then, everyone he loved was gone. Gunslinger, Sheepherder, Shadehours, Shimmeringlantern, Homepaw, and the rest of his children... why would it be any different this time?

'Don't put those stupid thoughts into your head. They're gone...' The tabby chuckled and continued to go deeper into the territory. "All gone."

ic. It was almost silent up until this moment. It was as if the life around him had been frozen in time and it was just now returning to normal. The male could hear his heart thumping in his chest as he listened to the rustling of branches and leaves coming towards him. Faster. And faster. It was similar to the feeling of being hunted by a much larger foe... not knowing what to do as you waited for your demise. But then it wasn't... it was more like a beam from starclan to show you the way.

Ba dum...... ba dum...... ba dum
His heart began to slow when he finally spotted those familiar yellow eyes. The eyes that he would gaze into before going to sleep at night. The eyes that showed him that it was okay to fall in love again. Those eyes... they were her eyes.

'No... no, she isn't here. Shade is de- or she was... I..'
The tabby stood there, his jaw open but not a word coming out. When he had first come to visit his old home, the feline had been told that shadestar died. The love of his life, the mother of his children.. dead. But, here she was, standing only feet away from him.

"You're alive." he spoke quietly, his paws frozen to the ground where he stood. He wanted to rush to her side and apologize for not coming back to her sooner and everything else he had put her through.. but he couldn't.

He gazed into her eyes and then looked back down at his feet. Was this nervousness? The feeling of his stomach just not being completely there and his heart racing... was this it?

The tabby took another step. 'What if she pushes me away?' Firtree sighed inwardly and shook his head. He would do anything to avoid that but he wouldn't be shocked if she didn't want to talk right now. He couldn't imagine the pain he put her through when he left. "I.. I'm so sorry for leaving."

He dipped his head to the younger female and then looked back at Shadehours, not sure what to say at this point. "Er, I'm returning. Thanks I'm F- oof!" He grunted as he felt Shade ram into him and tackle him to the ground. The tabby didn't squirm, he didn't try to get away, he didn't want to fight. He deserved this.

"YOU * COLOURED ASSHOLE!" Every name she would call him... they were all what he was. He was an asshole for leaving. He was an asshole for not coming back, for not letting her know everything would be alright, for not saying how much he loved her... He was a * coloured asshole.

Firtree listened to everything Shade yelled at him. Once he knew that his love had died, that's when he stopped caring about everything. He never stayed in one place for too long, he wouldn't allow for himself to get attached to anyone or make to many friends... When she died was when he gave up. He always had a little thought in the back of his head that Shade may have been watching him but he just assumed she would have forgotten about him after she found out the truth. Guess not.

He later quietly for a moment and listened to her cry. "Shadehours..." The tabby tom began, his voice not much louder than a whisper. "I never stopped caring for you and I never will... You mean the world to me and I know I messed up. I should have come back to Riverclan to let y- no, I should have never left in the first place. I wasn't thinking clearly... and I am so sorry for everything I put our family through, everything I put you through. You didn't deserve any of it."

It was odd being back in his birth clan and not knowing anyone. That's what he got for being the oldest one here. The warrior could remember meetings like this when Rangerstar would be sitting high above the rest of the clan and they'd talk about the weekly events. Or when he'd sit proudly and listen to every announcement Shadehours (Shadestar at the time) had to say. Firtree really missed days like that.

With a sigh, the feline shook his head and focused on Ivylee as she spoke. It was strange to see someone as young as her demoting members and taking charge like she did, but he wasn't going to argue anything. Besides, this wasn't his home anymore. Things had changed and Fir just needed to get used to that.

There wasnt really anyone around to remember his name except for Shadehours and Homewrecker, so if Ivylee was mentioning it to a stranger then it must have been someone he knew... right?

Did he know a frenchcapitol? The tabby wasn't quite sure but he had to admit that the name did sound familiar. Maybe he knew her when she was younger.... when she was Frenchpaw? Yes, Frenchpaw! Gosh, she had certainly grown up since he last saw other feline. It was weird but neat to see another familiar face. "Welcome back. It sure has been a long time since I last saw you." The tabby said as he took a seat beside Ivylee.

So much had changed since the last time the tabby was here. The ranks were a bit switched up and they were living in a completely new environment. The clan must have moved a few times because he couldn't even remember how long he had searched for his home. But that had to be expected right? Clans always found a reason to move at least once a year.

The biggest thing that seemed to change in his opinion was the people. The majority of Riverclan. Maybe it was because he was getting a bit older, but Firtree really missed the old days. The days when his grandfather was leader and all he had to worry about was what he'd catch that day. That was so long ago.. a little over three years actually. The male laughed to himself and shook his head. Gosh, he really was old, huh?
