[fancypost bgcolor=; borderwidth=0px; bordercolor=; width: 375px;][justify]The long-limbed pup was vocal in expressing his displeasure at the cold. He wiggled in search of new warmth, burying his face in Samuel's belly, nuzzling beside his siblings. He whined in protest at being nudged, hooking on to suckle. The noises and movement puzzled the newborn, but he wasn't too keen on figuring them out, intent on drinking his full. Curling up, he buried his nose in Dustypup's fur, lulled to sleep by his satisfied appetite.

[fancypost bgcolor=; borderwidth=0px; bordercolor=; width: 375px;][justify]Hughes followed after his sibling, lured over by the voices. He stood close to his father, staring up with a puzzled expression, wondering why they were talking about leaving. They weren't going to leave Riverclan, were they? He looked over towards his uncle, his eyes wide in desperation, afraid that his family would be left behind. Cosmicpup might not have been questioning it out loud, but it didn't mean he wasn't going to.

"P-pa? You're leaving? What about us!?" he cried, trying to get his attention, maybe some answers. He wasn't sure if he'd like the answer he'd get, though. His face was a mixture of anger and sadness, feeling rejected by his parent. His legs shook underneath him, biting his lip hard to keep back the tears trying to spill.

[fancypost bgcolor=; borderwidth=0px; bordercolor=; width: 375px;][justify]Hughes opened his mouth to protest, to demand him to say that he'd stay, but he didn't trust his voice. He held back his words, afraid they'd come out shaky and betray his weakness in the situation, instead bowing his head. Softly sniffling, he stood rigid, eventually getting fed up with it all and shuffling away. He was bitter, confused and just wanted to be by himself to sort his feelings out.

[fancypost bgcolor=; borderwidth=0px; bordercolor=; width: 375px;][justify]Hughes was happy to be around others after his other parent's leave. He wasn't sure if he wanted to see him again, as petty as it was, but he was hurt by Samuel's actions. He trotted up to the scene, trying to hop up against Freckle's back and peering over to the new face, obviously not very mindful of his father's injuries. But he was the strongest male he'd ever met, in his young mind. As for the new-comer, they were all pretty new to him, really. He had seen the rest around camp, though, but this one he hadn't. "Hi! I'm Maes, but you can call me Hughes. I like your bow, too!" he piped up, grinning. He liked both of their bows.

[fancypost bgcolor=; borderwidth=0px; bordercolor=; width: 375px;][justify]Hughes had been having difficulty getting the recent incident off his mind. He was frustrated, moping around camp and missing his mother in general. It wasn't fair, he still couldn't figure out why he had wanted to leave in the first place. Apparently he was in the same boat as Patchworkpup, who he'd come to learn was a half-sibling of his. What did 'half-sibling' mean, anyway? Either way, he had a bunch of them, he'd found out. Walking up, he smiled at his sister's enthusiasm at going, quickly feeling just as happy as she was. "I'll go! I can help you catch that butterfly, too!" he suggested, a big smile on his face.

[fancypost bgcolor=; borderwidth=0px; bordercolor=; width: 375px;][justify]Hughes was still pretty sour over the whole ordeal with Sam. He'd moped around and whined over his mother, but in the end, he still loved him to death. He just didn't find it fair for him to go and not at least explain. Catching him in his female body, he pretended not to notice for a long time, but stood nearby. It finally became too much for him, quickly racing to his side and clinging onto his leg, possibly interrupting his exercise session. He hung to him silently, avoiding his eyes with his cheeks puffed out in embarrassment.

[fancypost bgcolor=; borderwidth=0px; bordercolor=; width: 375px;][justify]oh no, are you all alright?

[fancypost bgcolor=; borderwidth=0px; bordercolor=; width: 375px;][justify]Hughes was only a little pup, but it didn't stop him from wanting to join in, too. He bounded over and nearly tripped over himself, beaming as he puffed out his chest, grinning. "I wanna participate, too! he announced, a little louder than needed. The labrador was small and awkwardly limbed, but he was eager to try his damn hardest.

[fancypost bgcolor=; borderwidth=0px; bordercolor=; width: 375px;][justify]Hughes' smile widened. He got to fight with an adult! Crouching down, his tail was wagging furiously, his whole hindquarters shaking along.

[fancypost bgcolor=; borderwidth=0px; bordercolor=; width: 375px;][justify]Hughes was drawn to the border by the sounds of crying, saddened by the noises and wanting to comfort whoever it was. There, he stumbled across the kitten, weeping. He took a sniff at the air, catching the tainted smell of two-legs. His eyes grew wide, quietly stalking over towards the kitten and nudging him, whining at the other's despair. "What's wrong? What happened to you?" he asked quietly, laying down beside him with his head on his paws.

[fancypost bgcolor=; borderwidth=0px; bordercolor=; width: 375px;][justify]Hughes wasn't sure what these 'candycane' things were, but from what the others were saying, he guessed that they were a nice treat. He liked treats, so he couldn't possibly be left out. Although he did prefer caramel, he liked any sort of sweet, except for dark chocolate. It was too tangy for his tastes. He padded up to the three, smiling towards Endlesskit. "Could I have one?" he asked, a broad smile on his face.

Once he'd been given one, he observed it with a curious expression, unsure. The thin stick was straight, suddenly curving at the end, swirled with white and red markings. It didn't look like any sweet he'd ever had. Hesitantly, he took it in between his teeth, biting down a small piece of his own. Cold quickly filled his mouth, an interesting taste at his tongue. It wasn't too bad, actually, even though it was sticky.

[fancypost bgcolor=; borderwidth=0px; bordercolor=; width: 375px;][justify]Hughes had heard stories of the mystical person known as Santa Clause, and he'd always wanted to meet him. Maybe not everyone believed in him, which was something else he'd come to learn, but it was their lose. They just didn't have much of a Christmas spirit. He raced over to the scene, gasping at the figure. A big, goofy grin spread across his face, jumping up to hug onto the polar bear's leg. "Santa!" he exclaimed excitedly.

He was a bit peeved about the doberman's disbelief, but he didn't linger on the thought much. How could he with all this holiday joy? He let go and stood back, staring up at him expectantly. "Oh, am I on the nice list? I don't wanna be on the naughty list!" he suddenly blurted out, a worried expression replacing his joyful one, worried he might just be on the bad kid's list. He wanted some presents this year, not lumps of coal.

[fancypost bgcolor=; borderwidth=0px; bordercolor=; width: 375px;][justify]Hughes happened across the male, eyeing his wings with curious eyes. He'd never see such a thing himself, so he was surprised to see what would normally be on a bird on this canine, glancing back at himself to make sure he didn't have wings sprouting himself. "How did you get those?" he asked, neglecting the traditional 'name and business' question. He stepped closer to examine the feathers, gently touching at them.

He stood off to the side awkwardly, not too keen on seeing him right now; he was still trying to figure out how to deal with his emotions in a not so 'bottle-them-up-for-later' way. Although he did slightly perk up at his half-sister's words, he didn't let himself get his hopes up quite yet, since Sam hadn't said anything about sticking around. At least he was keeping one of his promises.

"Um, Patchwork, I think he's just visiting...," he stated, frowning. He hated to break it to her, but he had said so himself that he'd visit. This was probably just one of them.
