His amber orbs were lazily squinted with sleep while his impressive maw parted in a yawn. Booming thunder in the distance came as a slight surprise, albeit not enough to make the brute flinch. He twitched his whiskers in thought, schedules for the day buzzing through his mind. This is often what he did when he rose, never finding time to simply relax. He was the figure that the clan looked up to.

Cinderstar reluctantly placed his four paws underneath his heavy bodice, pushing his sore muscles until he stood. Yesterday's fall from a tree had left a few bruises, but nothing he couldn't handle. He quietly walked out from the small cave that fabricated his den, gazing around the empty camp with content. The sun was barely beginning to rise, a dim illumination engulfing the surface to a point where his pupils barely had to strain themselves. The tom halted at the stream that ran through the middle of their camp; one of the multiple flows of water that fueled the lake.

He slowly crouched down, allowing his tongue to lap at the icy liquid. The intensity of the chill was enough to shake him awake, crushing any remaining drowsiness that lingered within his cranium. Had a rustling in the bushes not distracted him the tom would have returned to his den. An unimpressed expression overtook his visage, plume beginning to lash in annoyance. "I told you not to sneak out at night." He hissed toward the vegetation.

A fluffy tail popped out from the brush, pausing for a moment until a young temptress exposed herself from her concealed position.

"I thought I saw a mouse in the middle of camp and I wanted to catch it. I was tracking it for so long that I lost sight of the camp. I then wandered a bit. I'm lucky to have even found my way back!"

"Lucky, sure." He tossed his eyes. "Don't do it again, Fawnpoppy. You're not safe by yourself out there." Cinderstar warned, dipping his head toward the nursery. "As your punishment I'd like for you to find new bedding for Lilytail. Maybe pick up something Palekit could play with. Make sure this task is done before sunhigh." And with that he dismissed her, blocking out any complaints she might be muttering to herself. For now he was focused on brainstorming patrols for the day.[/fancypost][/fancypost][/fancypost]

I know if I so as mention his name to Fawnpoppy she'll make it her life's goal to steal him away." She mumbled. The shaman was laying in a grassy field, a ghostly pale she-cat beside her. The apparition was flicking her tail in thought until she eventually lightened Goldenpaw with a reassuring smile.

"My sister is many things but she is nothing compared to you. My advice is to let him go. You're so young and beautiful with a spectacular life ahead of you. Why waste your energy concerning yourself with one stinky tom when the whole clan is counting on you? If true love is in your future, it won't leave you guessing. You'll just... Know."

The soothing meow of the divine goddess was like a sweet harmony to her ears. Goldenpaw's throat began to rumble with a purr, her head bumping against the older she-cat's cheek.

"Goldenpaw," The mysterious feline gazed into the distance, a morose expression conquering her visage.

Thunder roaring beyond the mountains woke the apprentice from her peaceful slumber. Goldenpaw's crown popped into the air, pupils widened in disbelief. An empty seed of despair blossomed deep inside her stomach, leaving her with a nauseous feeling. Sharing tongues with the ancestors left her with emptiness the moment reality slapped her in the face. It was all a dream, just like it always was. Releasing a small huff, the lovely tabby brought herself to her paws in order to sniff around the den.

All their herbs were tightly wound in leaf packages, although now that spring arrived it would be time to take them from their bundles to store them in the crevices dug out around the den. There was no doubt she would accompany Brightberry on an herb hunt later in the day. After taking inventory that was normally the outcome. She glanced behind her at the sleeping calico, curled up in the nest beside her own. Shaking the remaining reflections clear from her brain, she began to make her way out of the den.

Goldenpaw approached the edge of the cliff that overlooked the main camp, taking a seat on the tip. The wind picked up behind her, blowing her long fur in the wrong direction. Was this what her father had to go through every clan meeting? She'd never noticed how drafty is was atop the small cliff.

The clearing below her became busy after the sun had woken a chunk of her clanmates. She peered at them all, head tilted slightly to the right in curiosity. Would anyone bring them breakfast? Sometimes their loving clanmates brought both her and Brightberry a morsel to eat in the morning. It was their way of appreciating the shaman's work. Goldenpaw never did much except organize and treat simple cuts. It was Brightberry who did the hard work whenever a serious case came in. Goldenpaw never felt ready for serious scenarios, her insecurities getting the best of her.

The aroma of rain grew stronger by the passing second. Sickeningly dark storm clouds in the distance promised a downpour to fall upon LunarClan. The reign of newleaf showers was about to begin.[/fancypost][/fancypost][/fancypost]

It was that time of the year again when they returned to the clan's territory, enjoying the warmer weather like any sane creature would do. This was her first time seeing the gentle giants up close, and she was utterly fascinated. Who would have thought to eat grass? Maybe I should try that...

It was in her nature to watch. It was in her nature to scrutinize every detail. This was how she learned about the world around her. Experience? No, that was for fools who wanted to risk their lives. A cat who learned from experience would charge up to the herd of herbivores, while an observer such as herself would simply learn from someone else's mistakes. Besides, if she got any closer to the hooved creatures there was a chance of them splashing mud onto her beautiful pelage. Nothing would ever bribe her into getting her pelt dirty.

When the sky's colors grew from ebony to azure it was apparent she'd be running late. In a slight panic she backed away from the caribou, fearful of the consequences that awaited her. Last time she was caught she had to go on a border patrol. Fawnpoppy on border patrol? It had been a disaster for everyone. She knew Cinderstar would put her to work, and she could only imagine what sadistic punishments he had in store. Removing ticks from every cat in the clan? Assisting Brightberry with picking herbs? Cleaning out the elder's den?! She shivered at the thought. The clan knew she hated contributing to a working society even when her skills rivaled those of her clanmates.

Fawnpoppy bounced through the forest on dainty paws, her breathing heavy from the foreign effort. When was the last time she ran? Oh, yes -- never. She was a fan of taking her time, no matter how pressured she felt. This was different than the whining from her clanmates. This was her laziness at stake! The familiar scent of multiple felines hit her nostrils, the cliff coming into sight shortly after. She dove into a nearby bush, crawling on her belly to get past the sole cat in the camp's clearing.

She wasn't as stealthy as she hoped, for Cinderstar did not hesitate to address her.

"I told you not to sneak out at night."

Busted! The vixen froze prior to stepping out from her green cover. "I thought I saw a mouse in the middle of camp and I wanted to catch it. I was tracking it for so long that I lost sight of the camp. I then wandered a bit. I'm lucky to have even found my way back!" Was that the best lie she could think of? No, but she was exhausted from her exercise so give her a break! She flashed Cinderstar a sheepish glance before swiftly averting her olive eyes back to the soil.

"Lucky, sure. Don't do it again, Fawnpoppy. You're not safe by yourself out there. As your punishment I'd like for you to find new bedding for Lilytail. Maybe pick up something Palekit could play with. Make sure this task is done before sunhigh."

"That's not fair!" She growled in protest. By the way the tom's head turned away she could tell he wasn't going to hear her. Grumbling insults under her breath, Fawnpoppy dragged her feet toward the area in which the warriors slept. Some found trees to snooze in while others made their nests under the thick shrubbery surrounding the vicinity. Her feathery nest sat between a fallen log and a boulder located behind a popular nesting choice for her fellow clan members.

She was forced to step over a few of her clanmates, extremely careful not to wake them. After the ruddy princess jumped over Deerspring she felt her paws trip over a second body. She fell with a mew of shock, landing roughly on her side. "Sorry!" She squeaked, lifting her head to see who exactly had purposely tripped her. Lizardfang, the prickly tom who was most likely secretly an elder that possessed devilishly handsome looks. "Oh --" Her ears lowered to an akimbo position, awaiting the yelling that the grumpy cat was bound to throw at her.[/fancypost][/fancypost][/fancypost]

With every cat in the clan wearing a thick coat, it was usually difficult to differentiate them. Of course it was Brightberry. The she-cats tended to wake around the same time, as it had become a habit over the past five moons of their time together. The playful words delighted her ears, instantaneously brightening her rather dreary mood. "Cold? I think this weather is warm compared to leaf-bare." She commented softly, lowering her crown as her ears pinned themselves against her skull in order to block out the wind.

"I've seen better days. My favorite is when the sun is setting. The night always fills me with energy." That should come as no surprise to any shaman The moon was sacred to the clan, after all. The moon was a mother to them all, guiding them in the roughest of times. It was why the most spiritual place in their territory, the Moon Tree, was even holy at all. In the next few sunsets it would be time for her and her mentor to make the journey to the Moon Tree. Some may see the leafless, pale trunk as rubbish, but it has served the clan well in many historical events. After an unspeakable amount of seasons it still stood while generations upon generations of cats fell.

"I had a dream." Goldenpaw mentioned, rising to her paws prior to nudging Brightberry as a signal to follow her. The young feline trekked down the hill that led to the main camp, dipping her head as a greeting to all the cats they passed. She stood over the fresh-kill pile, picking up a plump hare to share with the other shaman. She dragged the corpse to Brightberry, who halted a few tail-lengths behind her. "Anyway," She continued, allowing the older maiden to take the first few bites. "I was visited by my mother. She didn't mention anything drastic. She said her and the other ancestors saw nothing but clear visions."

Being contacted by the dead was an uncommon event outside of the Moon Tree's presence, albeit it was not unheard of if a prayer had been spoken. It was Goldenpaw's second time being visited by the deceased in her nest, with the first being a shaman from long ago. "We haven't had war in so long. Everything has been so peaceful that I fear something awful may happen soon. I don't think peace is meant to last forever in this world."[/fancypost][/fancypost][/fancypost]

Perhaps the fact that his head hadn't exploded? Or maybe it was the thrill of the chase that enticed her. Never before had she met a brute who didn't try to [i]fawn

over her. Lizardfang had never given her a second glance. After becoming a warrior she was sure the grumpy feline would confess his love for her, yet he remained the same as always. A challenge concerning her reputation was one way to get her to show effort.

Fawnpoppy would have stayed to chat with Deerspring, the more lovely sibling, albeit it appeared she was content with her slumber. Rolling her emerald optics playfully she was swift to trail Lizardfang like a lost kit. She watched from a distance, patiently waiting for the correct time to hop in. After he had sat down with nothing better to do she deemed it safe to approach. With her fluffy tail high in the air and her chin lifted confidently the vixen strut up to the older male, circling him in a teasing manner. "I really am sorry about waking you up. Don't allow my feather to fool you," Ah yes, her eider feather. Many of her clanmates were skeptical of the she-cat who adorned the symbol of secrecy. The feather of two faces, as it was commonly referred to. "I truly mean my apology. I would hate to get tripped on."

She paused in front of Lizardfang's face, her dazzling oracles drinking in the features of his scrunched visage. "I have to go collect moss for Lilytail's nest... Would you like to join me? It'll be much more fun than sitting around the camp." She tilted her head slightly to the right, her expression one of innocence. Beyond her blatant vanity and fussy attitude, she did possess a kit-like aura that many found endearing. "We could even sneak around the territory and explore." She mewed softly, leaning in closer to him as to prevent any eavesdroppers from hearing her suggestion.[/fancypost][/fancypost][/fancypost]

Why not take the opportunity to practice the skills you lack?" Cinderstar purred affectionately, one large paw swiping at his old friend. Stonepaw back in the day had been his first apprentice -- and was a trusted comrade. Cinderstar had been young when he was a mentor, as the clan had been short on cats that year from the deaths during winter. The two learned together considering Cinderstar was much too immature in his youth. He could have mentally passed as an apprentice himself, but sadly his developed physique gave away his true age.

"I was actually thinking of going out on a hunting patrol today with Talonclaw (the npc deputy chill out dude). You're welcome to join us if you'd like. Now that the snow has melted on the tundra prey should be easy to find. Not to mention there will be plenty of puddles for me to splash around in." He flicked an aud, pale orbs resting on Goldenpaw as she shared a large meal with Brightberry. Inwardly he signed at his daughter's poor choice of prey. Did horrible judgement run in the family? With Fawnpoppy as a great example of this, he was sure it must come from his former mate's side.

He had a mate once upon a time? Him? The optimistic, charming, and otherworldly handsome leader? Yes, of course. Deersong had been an apprentice of his that he fell in love with. His second apprentice, meaning he couldn't label Stonemask as his favorite after the sweet she-cat came along. She was from an outside clan, having traveled at as a kit with her mother and sibling. The leader at the time, Birchstar, openly accepted the struggling cats. As she came of age, Cinderstipe (which he was known at the time) developed romantic feelings for Deerpaw. After her warrior ceremony the pair disappeared for three days, much to the clan's dismay, although returned after their honeymoon had ended. The rest was history... Until their first litter arrived. Kitting was a dangerous profession that he learned the hard way.

@ rue -- yes yes it'll be cute c': she'd probably be confused with them at first
but then love ruepaw like a child and give them an extra boost once they're able
to bask in her confident glory lmao she's the worst i swear

@ spotted -- YES HOW CUTE that would give sooty a chance of proving she's not
too bad just a healthy dose of trash. like i mentioned she is generous and is drawn
to the imperfect. she'd definitely be able to help cutie spottedfern ♥ or at least she'd
definitely TRY to help cutie spottedfern.
