On 7/11/16, I lost my best friend, Tom, he was aged 11 years.
I feel so guilty because I didn't pick up on it when it was so blindly obvious in — he was filled with blood in the abdomen because of a bleed from his spleen. He had a tumor on his spleen and liver. I took him to the vet because he was weak in the back legs and just really sick looking. I thought it would all be fine so I just stroked him once and left him at the vet. Little did I know, he was going to die.
The vet called me and told me he had a spleen tumor, so they were going to remove it in surgery. I could either put him down or get surgery done, so I chose surgery. It costed big, big money. They called me later and told me he was actually bleeding from the liver, and he had to get put down.
I was devastated.
They put him to sleep under the anesthetic so it was less painful. They had already removed 4L of blood from his belly.
I never got to say goodbye.
I saw him when he was dead. I'll never forget how cold he felt.
My other dog, Harry (who is also his son), is looking for him everywhere.
I just feel so sad and lost without him.
So, that's my little story. The weird thing is: I used to have two dogs called Billy and Angus. Tom was born on the day Angus died. Tom died on the same day that Billy died. Maybe that's just a coincidence.
Anyway, I just want to know if anyone has lost a pet to something similar.

Kimi's eyes widened and she followed the pack, her heart beating out of her chest. The earth exploded beside her as there was a gunshot and the barking of the hounds rang in her ears. "Great Lupus!" she muttered silently.

Inali loped into the territory, a silver-scaled fish in his jaws, water still dripping from his almost-fresh catch. It wasn't everyday he caught a fish in the stream, as his long legs made it easier for him to pursuit rabbits. He stopped as he noticed a gentle hum coming from inside Arashi's den. He padded inside and dropped the fish, drops of water spraying onto his paws. The male could smell sweet, fragrant herbs all around. "Hungry?" he asked the mottled gray female. He was always thoughtful of his pack, and since Arashi worked so hard to help the pack, he thought it was the least he could do.

Aiyana lazed in the hot sunlight, her small head resting snugly on her paws. Her black-tipped tail wagged slightly with contentment. She grunted with happiness as the warm breeze blew her mottled brown fur and she rolled onto her flank, stretching her lithe legs. The female pricked her large ears as a male she didn't know very well, Inali, walked into Arashi's den, carrying a juicy morsel. It reminded her of how hungry she was. She rose to her paws and shook vigorously before trotting off. "I'm going hunting," Yana grunted to no-one in particular, a flicker of hope in her mind that someone might be willing to join her.
