Breezepool stretched slowly, the tip of his tail quivering as he took in the moist air, straightening with a satisfied look adorning his face. He lapped at one paw and drew it over his whiskers, before stroking back to cover his ear. His eyes, akin to molten silver, slid over the camp with a kind of reverence before he padded towards the freshkill pile, delicately selecting a mouse and bringing it back to where his sister waited.

Poppyfall lay her head down on her paws, watching her brother as he walked across the ground. She blinked once, quite sleepily, her tortoiseshell pelt nearly blending into the ground, but his green eyes wide and bright, not missing any details. Her whiskers twitched in amusement when Breezepool dropped the mouse in front of her, murmuring her thanks before she took a bite out of the creature, finishing her share before sliding it over to her brother.

December watched, patiently, as Yoshi attacked, taking a small step back. The ice he'd created from before still shone across the ground, though fissures had marred and clouded it's surface and it crackled in some places underfoot. Drawing his attention away, he decided to use Yoshi's attack to his advantage. Shining, blunt orbs of ice formed around him, clear and barely visible in the light aside from the light that reflected and refracted off of them. Some were more spherelike, while others simply seemed to be round-ish objects, with no regular rhyme to them aside from the fact that there weren't any sharp ends.
He grit his teeth, annoyed - usually, he let his ice form more irregular shapes - as long as they were roughly blade-shaped and sharp, it worked for him. Crafting multiple blunt objects with care to make sure they weren't sharp enough to possibly stab the teacher required a bit more of his attention. However, he would readily switch to his usual spikes and shards if Konani ticked him off enough - that was given. He already wasn't font of their supervisor, and of course had no qualms about holding back if he was given a reason, though it would be a crying shame to be kicked out. Advancing forward himself, a small twitch of his eye sent the ice flying towards the teacher - he hoped at least they would put him down, and maybe would even knock him out.
A grin slid onto his face.
    Wouldn't that be a treat?
He strengthened the ice underfoot, aware that it might throw Yoshi off, but more hoping that it would mess with Konani's footing - he relented just enough on his cooling to allow for a thin sheen of water atop the flow, making it almost like a skating rink in quality - perfectly smooth and slippery.

Narunir managed to straighten himself out, flapping his wings slightly as he pressed them back against his hide, slowly backing up and watching the students carefully, resisting the urge to perk his ears up and listen - yes, he was a predator, and of course his senses were heightened - however, his first instinct was to attack anything that might seemed threatening before it could become a threat. It was the reason why the illusions caught his attention so profoundly - his brain triggered muscle memory and he acted. It was an instinct engraved on dragonkind, meant to help them protect their hoards and their hatchlings.
However, listening to the students in this instance was unfair - and, seeing as it was only their first fight, Narunir elected to give them a better chance than he thought they would have had originally. Instead, he settled on watching them, growing unusually quiet as he formulated his own plans - he would have to be careful around Ty, yes. But the little one would have to learn how to properly get out the way, and get out of the way fast. Even if he seemed to be fairly good at dodging, there was no reason why he couldn't become excellent. Nox's telekinesis was concerning - the fact that it had managed to bowl him over made the drake wonder just what the other male was capable off. Regardless, he settled back on his haunches, keeping his slitted amethyst eyes forward, muscles coiled and ready to strike, though he appeared perfectly still and tranquil.

Falkeir hovered just outside of the dorm room, not sure who their teacher was, but tentative to leave - even if his roommate had long abandoned him. He kept his eyes trained on the hallway, not sure where Kurosaki had run off to, but quite sure that his new acquaintance was more than a little odd in the head. He turned pale, silvery brown orbs towards the ceiling, before turning back and entering the dorm room with a sigh, flopping back down on the couch.

I do have characters that are diverse...the vast majority of them are white males, however they each come from different cultures. Jack (who you haven't met) and December, the brothers, are French. They are also my only two blonde characters, I think, lmfao. Narunir is British. Falkeir is Nordish.

Aiden is Portugeuse (Brazil)/Spanish (not sure which Spanish country), and Damon is Canadian/Greek/Irish. Ivory and Ebony are Australian, Jynx is Egyptian. Mdina is Greek/Maltese.

Honestly I love other cultures, and exploring them through characters. However I'm always super worried that I'm going to offend someone with them ;-; I have a massive list of characters that I keep track of, but there are some of them.

Breezepool : Sunsetkit, Sedgekit, Eveningkit, Riverkit

Breezepool nonchalantly stood, whisking a tongue over his muzzle to catch the last taste of the mouse from his flews before glancing around, his eyes falling on the kits with a gentle smile. He was tempted to go over and play with them, if only to quell his boredom. With a flick of his tail, he padded up to the kits, fluffing up his pelt slightly against the mist.
    "Playing a game?" He questioned.

    Poppyfall : Mouseheart

The she-cat looked up at the sound of paws tapping against the ground, swallowing the last bit of mouse. Her green and amber gaze fell on Mouseheart as he left the warriors den, cheerfully calling out:
    "Good morning!"

(( OOC: Haaaah, just looking for some interactions xD ))

//did not know nox was black, but i've never seen his form so -shrug-

December is French only because the character I morphed into this rp was originally from a France-like country. He's technically from Heaven, though I like to imagine a French quarter somewhere there where Ember lived with his dad. Obv he would have to learn other languages to be able to be part of a court or whatever like his father and the other archangels, but that was never his strong suit. Matter of fact, he didn't even speak 'good' English until after he fell.

I'm confused. You guys have to pay for classes...? Are they extra classes that aren't required?

Also, I've done the basis of this before, that totally works - it's kind of along the lines of what Spudbob said:

My younger sister is spoiled. For the most part we're treated equally (nowadays), but only after I pointed out to my parents all the things they did for her that they never did for me
(I.e. Among other things, My sister's room has been redone twice. My room has been redone once, when I was 12, and it's painted like a giant neon watermelon. They've crammed old furnature in there so it's crowded, and the curtains they bought for both of us when i was 8 and she was 5 they only put up for her. We used to have "princess" mosquito netting too, but they never got around to it for me.)

So, they kept insisting that I needed to do more chores because "my sister does more around the house". In protest, I stopped doing my chores for the week (boy did I get in sh*t for that), but you could very quickly see just how much I did around the house, and that it very much outweighs my sister's chores. My parents no longer bother me about chores and such as often as they did, knowing that I'll do them, and they don't comment on my leisure time as much. To be honest, it's nice.
It also helped that I got a job, so a lot of my chores got neglected somewhat. The entire family seems to value me a lot more.

Also, in my household, we don't have an allowance. For us, my parents will buy us expensive gifts and such for our birthdays and Christmas as a kind of payout, as well as the odd thing here and there. It may not seem like much but it works out.

The only chore we do get paid for is mowing the lawn, because we live on a 17 acre inactive farm and I think our "front" is 5 or so acres...? It takes 3-5 hours to mow it. So we get paid a fair sum at the end of that.

Speaking of temper tantrums, today has been a terrible day. I woke up in a great mood, the sun was shining, I was excited for school. Then, in philosophy class, this one girl's been bugging me - I noticed something about her. She doesn't rebut against anyone except for me. She will always go after my opinions, 100% of the time. I jotted it down in class on Friday and today because I wanted to see if I was right, and I was - every single time I say anything in the class, she rebuts against it. Around 70% of the time her rebuttals aren't even good, and they literally just attack me as a person in implications, which is how she's getting away with it. Hell, we were on the same side of a debate a few days ago and she started arguing against me? I was her teammate. Like? I don't understand? You don't just start arguing against your own teammates and giving the other side arguments to use during a debate.
So today, she literally responded not two seconds after I'd finished, and when I rebutted and shut her down, she turned around and started bitching about me to her friends and laughing at me.
I think she thinks it's okay because I'm a grade lower than her (I took a grade 12 class because I had a course conflict)? It's getting ridiculous though. So I'm faced with around four options.

    1. Ignore it (Not really an option for me at this point. I don't want to let her get away with it.)
    2. Confront her about why she has a problem with me.
    3. Tell the teacher.
    4. Find out what makes her tick, and shut her down. <--- thank you december what the hell have you done to my personality honestly.

The second thing that happened was my boyfriend and I had a fight. He got mad at me for something he didn't f*cking understand through one of my friends, and said to that friend over text that "He doesn't care what my reasoning was." "This is the last time I f*cking tell her anything" "I need to have a little talk with her about not talking"

What the actual fuck?? I'm not his damn stupid child and to be honest, I feel like I bear a lot of the load of the relationship. You guys can't see the whole thing, but after he texted my friend that, he texted me 'Did you tell so and so this and that?" "WTF man, WTF." "You seconded it." "We will discuss this later." without waiting for a response from me. THEN when I responded angrily (of course) he backpedalled immediately. It honestly seemed like he was trying to be the typical 'big guy' in front of his friends, you know?? Honestly? That's not the person I fell for.

Then, my friend might break up with her boyfriend because of another friend, and everything just exploded. To make matters worse, I brought home my paper cut-out animation scenes today so that I could work on it, and it starts to rain?? Even though nobody called for rain?? My backgrounds, which took me a super long time to make, were ruined so now I'm super far behind. I seriously just can't. I want to have a hissy fit like a little kid at this point.

    Breezepool : Sedgekit, Riverkit, Breezepool

The dark-furred tom nodded, his whiskers twitching in slight amusement.
"It seems like everyone else is out hunting our on patrol." He mused, flicking his ears forward, before suggesting his own ideas.
"How about I pretend to be a rogue, intruding on TempestClan territory?"

    Poppyfall : Mouseheart, Ratwhisker

"I can't complain," She responded gently, noticing his stutter and assuming that perhaps he might be shy. "Prey is running well, we've got lots of kits in the Clan, and we're finally over our big turmoil. It's nice to have times of peace." She seemed to get lost in her thoughts for a moment before she turned her head back towards the tom, one ear twitching.
"Anyways, I'm off to help out the Elders. Their bedding probably needs changed." She stood, shaking out her fur a bit, before padding towards the Elder's den and poking her head in, uttering a cheerful greeting.

(( OOC: Poppy can go bug him :) If Mouse wants to come along that's fine too, I feel bad kind of dropping him like a hot potato :0 ))

Yeah. I try to persevere in the worst of times, and God bless my best friend to be honest. I don't know what I'd do without her, even if we're almost polar opposites (lol, seriously. I'm like a very small stubby bean in comparison bc I'm just barely 5'2", 5'3".

and yeah, i don't talk about this much because people on the internet tend to 'pretend' they have it because it's 'cool', but I suffered from/suffer from depression and anxiety. I mean, I can persevere, but it's really hard to do that when your entire being is just full of his intense self-loathing, so much so that you just feel hollow and numb, or an intense bought of fear. I don't even know how to describe it. It's so hard to find the good in things when you literally have no willpower or wants. I really don't want to be in that place again, but I can't keep trying to be the best person I can be and not expect to end up there again.

exercise definitely helps. so do my characters. i mean, i do nothing near as intense as military training (matter of fact i'm very slightly overweight, but a lot of it is muscle?? also i have a bad back and residual pain from an incident in the summer time so i can't do all that much anymore) but i respect you for persevering through that, man.

Lmao xD I know she's doing it on purpose because she actually talked nastily about me to one of my friends. Um, this sounds pretty unmodest but I have a lot of friends and a lot of people in the school who know me, and I have sort of connections so I find out a lot of stuff I'm probably not supposed to know.

I think that the next time she does it and attacks me instead of my argument, I'm going to tell her that if she has a problem with me, she needs to sort it out outside of class. Honestly I'm not losing marks because she can't get over some stupid grudge. I'm me and if she can't accept me for who I am, it's her loss. What bothers me is the fact that she's slowly turning the majority of the class against me (starting with her friends in the group she sits in).

I will accept that hug though I'm not too big on touching ^^ :3

Honestly? The whole thing about police officers nowadays really makes me angry. Especially since they weren't allowed in the pride parade in Toronto. I'm aware that there are a few bad apples in the bunch, but I don't think it's right for everyone to automatically jump to the conclusion that police officers are horrible people because, really, look at their job descriptions. That being said, I haven't read the article yet.

    After Reading:

Notice that the article does not really go into detail about the actions of the boy, rather it focuses on the actions of the police officer. In addition to that, it uses a fallacy - it inserts the mother's rather over-dramatic quote to gain pity and empathy so that you're more likely to agree with the writer's argument. It continually does this over and over again by quoting the boy and feeding unnecessary information into the article, and using grammar conventions to make it seem more dramatic for the reader. Notice that in the video, they don't talk to the police officer, the department, or say that they tried to get an interview with the police officer but were unable to. Why? Because it would change the bias, and the media doesn't like that.

Would a thirteen year old shoot someone? Absolutely. Would a police officer shoot someone? Absolutely. It has happened before, and it could happen again. If the police officer was being threatened by the kid, I think he had a right to be on edge. Now, I don't agree with completely clobbering the kid over and shooting, but I do not personally know a single 13 or 15 year old boy who is honest and it wasn't right for the kid to shove the police officer first, which it looked like he did in the video. And, reading through the article, and having a 13 year-old sister, it seems very much like his story differs from what happened in the video - almost like he's leaving it out. My sister has said stuff like that to people without really understanding that she's actually threatening them. Also, the kid's accent makes him a little hard to understand - I think that if the police officer was on edge already for whatever reason, mistaking 'Sue you" for "Shoot you" is a very easy mistake to make. Also, I do not think he was shooting at the boy. I think it was more of a warning shot than anything else, that it was meant to scare and subdue, not harm. That does NOT make it right however and I don't think a gun should have been involved in the first place. This could easily have been solved through discussion.

Honestly, all rambling aside - I don't think anyone was in the right here. I think that the police officer responded too harshly - he should have just requested that they get off his lawn, and he shouldn't have drawn his gun unless he thought he was going to be attacked. I think that the kid is leaving things out (twisting the story so he gets in less trouble) and that he and his friends should not have been on the man's property in the first place, nor should they have ganged up on the police officer at the beginning.

mm. I'll probably reply to the rp later today, because I'm exhausted, but here:

    https://docs.google.com/docume…GlorZaVk/edit?usp=sharing

This is a link to a document I made on Google Drive. The sharing has been set to 'anyone with the link can edit', so instead of keeping track of different posts, this document can be posted on the front page or whatever of the rp and we can look at it any time we need to. Anyone with the link can edit it, so we can add and remove people as we need to easily without having to find and then edit posts, and then quote them. Hopefully this makes it easier for everyone...?

Breezepool : Eveningkit, Riverkit, Sedgekit, Sunsetkit

"Of course," the tom agreed with a chuckle. Breezepool lowered himself slightly, puffing out his fur as much he could, his tail lashing teasingly just near the kits. Changing his tone slightly, he mimicked a rogue with an over-dramatic tone of voice.
"Blast - a patrol of strong TempestClan warriors - whatever shall I do?"

    Poppyfall : Mouseheart, Ratwhisker

Poppyfall greeted the elder warmly, her tail flicking.
"Just here to offer assistance, as Mouseheart said. Do you need anything?" She mewed, though her eyes sparked with curiosity. She had always retained her love for the stories that the elders passed down, long since kithood. Sheepishly, she added "Of course, if you wanted to tell us a story while we worked, I wouldn't mind," She chuckled slightly at herself.

(( OOC: sorry guys, I was bogged down with homework ;-;))

    December : Konani, Yoshi

December faltered for a fraction of a second, surprised, then in a bought of anger honed in on the molecules just ahead of Konani, slicking the ground with a sheet of frozen water.
"Le vent, oui? I'm sure I can find a way to get my ice through that," He mused, half to himself.
Relentless, he pulled up parts of the ice, watching from afar as it built into a small, thigh-high array of large, thick shards that formed a decent enough wall. The goal was to immobilize the teacher, if only temporarily. If Konani didn't slip on the ice, he would have to find a way to jump over or avoid the wall. If he did slip on the ice, well - the wall was an added obstacle to further prevent his mobilization. And even if the teacher managed to dodge the two, December doubted he would be able to do so as quickly as he had been moving - and that was all the sharpshooter needed. While his strong suit lay in shooting arrays of his wickedly sharp ice at his enemies with his pinpoint accuracy, playing 'nice' wasn't a concept he'd explored in a long while. The blonde once again ran over the thought that skewering his teacher was a bad idea.
A wicked grin pulled at the corners of his lips.

Il a dit "Don't hold back," N'il pas?

With that particular little idea dancing around in his head, the fallen stored it for later - just if he gave them enough trouble that he felt it was time to switch to more outwardly offensive attacks than defensive ones. It was truly hard to spar against someone when your attacks were meant to be lethal, however, and December didn't really feel like getting up close and personal enough with his teacher that he would be able to plant ice in his lungs. In addition to that, he knew he himself would be particularly vulnerable at that point due to the sheer amount of concentration his nasty little trump card took.

    ((OOC:
Was too tired to do the French, but I'm glad I'm back into it. It's especially tricky because I don't think December's thoughts, when explicitly written separately should be written out in English given that it's not his first language.
    "Wind, yeah?"
"He said 'Don't hold back,' didn't he?"

Once again, mind that the French is my own so any mistakes on my part are because of lack of practice/lack of knowledge.))

Same. A lot of December's fighting is rather lackluster because I have techniques in my head, but they would be considered powerplaying, y'know? So I occasionally slip one in, but my goal is always to let the other person have a chance. Even if Konani managed to avoid both obstacles, or if he hit one, there's no guarantee that December would hit him. He could always be deterred by ice - and in addition, he still has that future sense, right?

It's hard for me with Ember because he's not a sculpture - he really is only capable of making rough objects. If you asked him to make you a sword, he might fashion you a sharp object with a blunt 'handle', but it would be far from the real thing, y'know? It would look more like some sort of fancy lumpy icicle (lol).

Especially his 'special attack'. I think I added it to his form, but I was sitting on my bed, exploring interactions between my characters - and I thought that I really needed to give Ember some sort of attack with his ice that would be super effective at close contact, given that in my story he's a bit more of a psychopath than he is here. So, my nasty little brain decided that if Ember could somehow track the water vapor you breathe in, he could create ice in your lungs. Of course I talked to my mother (who is a nurse) about the biological significance of this and I did my own research, wanting to go into the medical field anyways (I want to be a vet, but you have to learn about human biology anyways).
The side effects are wild, besides restricted breathing - even if December removed his ice, there's a chance you would develop pneumonia just from having a foreign object in your lungs, irritating and infecting them. If that wasn't enough, the person would immediately have a cold shock response - they would gasp, which would only increase coughing, and then would begin to hyperventilate, which would be followed by an erratic heartbeat caused by the lack of oxygen - the body is working harder to pump what oxygen it can get into the lungs. In addition, your body would want to warm up your core - so after prolonged exposure you'd start to see lack of blood in limbs and internal organs.
"Freezing lungs" is also something that can happen when you're out running in sub-zero temperatures - the air inside your lungs is so cold that it starts freezing up your mucus and such, creating a dry environment, and your lung cells start to die off because of that. It basically makes you short of breath and it makes it hard to breathe for a little while.

There are more, but the nastier things start occurring past 15-30 minutes of exposure - at most I calculate that Ember could keep it up for 10 minutes, but that would be an extreme and he would likely faint if he held it that long.
Of course, December can only use this if he's been very close to another person, simply because he has to trace the molecules they're actually breathing in. After that, it would take immense concentration to keep track of said molecules and create the ice, which would undoubtedly be mentally exhausting. Even getting that close is obviously incredibly dangerous in a fight - he'd have to be within about a foot of someone, and that puts him at risk for all kinds of injuries - especially given that he would basically be out of it while using the attack.
The attack itself is draining depending on what he wants to do with it, so he wouldn't be able to use it often and would likely only want to use it as a last resort. Of course I'm applying more restrictions specially to this attack to keep it fair in the roleplay - but for our purposes it would likely only ever be used on NPC's or to stop someone on their tracks/interrogations, as terrible as that all sounds.

I swear, I'm not a bad person. I just have a keen interest in biology.

I'm endlessly fascinated by biology - thousands of cells working together do create an action. It blows my mind entirely!

Today we were looking at live protists under a microscope. I had a cute little algae - I think it was Euglena...? Regardless, it had a little flagellum and it kept going around in circles and squishing it's cytoplasm around. I named it Steve <3

then i left to go get my phone so i could take a picture of steve and somebody literally took my place at my microscope and got rid of my slide?? i was actually so upset lmfao. I was attached to the little guy.
