Not really, though it may initially seem that way, and Drex explained its weaknesses before. Trust me, there are some characters who are kind of Mary-Sues in this thread, but Ryfes is not one of them.
It's an illusion, yes, but like Drex said, it has its limitations. You can still have the presence of mind to work through it and break the illusion, as far as I understood. Furthermore, Drex did include the fact that it was heavily fatiguing for Ryfes to do.
On that note, and at the risk of sounding rude, something in the thread has been bothering me, if I can make a point...? I'm sorry if it comes across as rude or if it offends anyone, it's not meant to. This is just some stuff that I've picked up on over the years, and it's some pretty standard etiquette that people tend to follow in more advanced rp's.
I've been roleplaying for around 7 years now, and I am writing my own novel, so I know what can make or break a story (that sounds very conceited, but bear with me). In my personal opinion, no character should walk out of any fight uninjured. Even if they are the victor, or if it's a playfight or sparring, they should at least come out of it with a scrape. In real life, that's exactly what happens. I playfight with my cousins all the time, and I always come out with bruises. It's unrealistic and overpowered to have someone come out of a fight uninjured, and trust me, it's more fun and interesting for everybody if they do. Even the Avengers get injured!
There's also a thing called 'powerplaying', and it happens when you hit another person's character without their consent, or when you auto-hit (meaning, you say that your character's attack hit the other player's before their turn has come, unless the person you're rping with has given consent.). I will always say that my characters will "attempt" or "try to" when they're launching an attack, so that you can give consent in your next post to decide it the attack hit or missed. This is something that I usually work around when I see it - for example, if someone randomly said that they stabbed December, I might wholly disregard that part of the post because, a) it was an auto hit, and b) I did not give cosent to that. I don't know...to me it just comes off as offensive, somehow...? Like I am completely aware of my character's strengths and weaknesses, and I know what attacks would be effective on them and what attacks simply wouldn't work. It's really bothersome when someone decides for me what my character can or cannot evade.
This is just some advice from an experienced roleplayer. I don't mean it in a rude or negative way, but it's my ecperience that it keeps everything fair for everyone that way. I just noticed some of it going on and thought I'd give a few pointers, feel free to tell me to shut up ^^
