After four years of navigating around the complex system of moving staircases, becoming accustomed to the strange new subjects and terminology and her general new life as a witch, she would happily say Hogwarts was her favourite place in the world. Of course, not many teenagers of their generation would agree that school was a particularly pleasant place to be, but Hogwarts School of WItchcraft and Wizardary was far from your ordinary educational institute.

It felt great to be back, surrounded by all of the animated portraits that adorned the school walls and then to be greet the school ghosts who were equally excited - or not - now that the students had returned. But that was not all, for a bunch of first years were to join their ranks, too. Oh how Luce couldn't wait to be sitting back in the Great Hall having their feast and watching as the anxious but enthusiastic eleven year olds were sorted into their houses.

Now the teenager was sat on the Ravenclaw bench, listening attentively as Headmistress Hamlet made her speech. Luce definitely held a high amount of respect for the woman, who had only begun her position a year ago. She could recall how hectic school life had been in the previous year, with reporters who interrogated students and staff alike, and the Daily Prophet spewing out horrible stories. Honestly, you'd think after all these years the papers would improve at least somewhat. During that time she had felt sympathetic for Headmistress Hamlet, who had to deal with all of that whilst also running the entirety of Hogwarts. But this only strengthened her respect and admiration for her, as she seemed to have managed it all and didn't look as though she would crack and resign any time soon.

Lucina joined in with the loud cheers of the students once the speech was over, and now it was time for the long awaited grand feast. A large smile graced her features as food magically appeared on the tables as usual and everyone began to dig in, herself included. Perhaps she needed to restrain herself a bit when it came to eating, but it was the first day of the new school year and she was going to take as much as she could.

However the culprit was not a Gryffindor, but instead a mere Ravenclaw.

Her day had been fine thus far. Luce had just finished her potions class, successfully able to brew a particularly tricky potion after what seemed like her thousandth attempt. Leaving the lesson with an approving nod from Professor Holt, her esteem had been boosted enough to have her heading to her next class with a large grin.

The staircases of Hogwarts were always clogged, especially between lessons when students hurried to their classes to avoid the scolding of certain stricter professors. The female always thought that they rivalled the horrific traffic of central London, but somehow managed to go through them after a bit of patience. However today people seemed to be even more boisterous than usual, and she found herself being shoved to one side of the staircase by a group of Gryffindors who rushed by. She must have stepped on the open edge of one of the stairs in a weird and abrupt way, causing her shoe to promptly fall off and drop to the floor - or rather, someone's head.

'Ah fuck!' The thoughts in her head mirrored that of the person who received her shoe head on, though she never would have exclaimed it aloud as they did. Luce winced at the loud, resonating sound that the impact made.

The witch definitely heard the male's remark, using the other students reactions of stopping to stare down at him to brush past them all and scurry down the stairs. From the sound of it the person in possession of her shoe was quite a ways down, possibly already off the staircase and in the hallways below.

"Oh my word, I'm so sorry!"

At last the Ravenclaw reached the student who had been hit, evident by the shoe he had which was indeed hers. "I'm so, so sorry! Are you alright? Did it hit you that hard? Do you need medical assistance or something?" Lucina probably would not be able to apologise hard enough for her clumsiness.

Personally she didn't celebrate Thanksgiving, as it was more commonly celebrated over at the States and Canada, but Hogwarts - and the UK, at that - was very multi-cultural, so a great deal of people did indeed celebrate it.

The female headed down to the common room, not expecting to see anyone else awake - and certainly not anyone decorating. "Need any help?" she whispered, also conscious of the rest of their house sleeping, and so not to startle the girl. Luce briefly glanced at all of the decorations, amazed that Riley was attempting to put it all up herself.

"Thanks, and sorry again." Luce glanced around, relieved that everyone had continued going to their next classes and now the hallways were finally beginning to clear up.

"Me neither, it all happened before I even realised, ha..." Rubbing her head with one hand, she exhaled a small laugh. The whole situation was quite embarrassing, but it was just in those sorts of situations that she would try to laugh it off. The Ravenclaw looked back up at Ailin, casting a look of concern towards him. "I do hope I haven't injured you too much with my shoe though... Does you head still hurt? I could try a spell to help?"

"You're not late for your next class or anything either, are you?" Though Lucina only faintly recognised the male, she was fairly certain that he didn't belong to the same year as her.

But he did admit that it did hurt a bit. Lucina took out her wand, waving it as she murmured, "Episky." Hopefully, if it worked correctly, his head would be alright now. The Ravenclaw thought her magical skills were decent, well, decent enough to be able to cast a spell such as that one.

"That's good... I'll be fine. My teacher doesn't care too much either," she admitted. In the flurry of the whole situation her main priorities shifted from getting to class to making sure that the Slytherin was okay. "You feeling better now?"

The feline was usually such a sweet and well behaved creature when around her owner, but in reality had a mischievous nature and enjoyed messing around with the other Hogwarts students. The teen had only been alerted to this situation when another Ravenclaw came over calling, 'Hey! Your cat took someone's wallet!'

Luce had sprung up, quick as a flash, and dashed straight outside towards the shouts which indicated where her cat had gone. "Nessie!" The brunette soon spotted the scottish fold, next to another student and a few paces away a first year clutching a wallet.

"I'm so sorry!" she called as she ran over. "So is Nessie, really." The female briefly gave the feline a glare, before turning to the student with her, whom she recognised as a fellow 5th year."Thanks, Poppy." Walking over to the two, Lucina bent down to scoop the cat up in her arms, booping her on the nose as a light scolding. "You naughty cat! You know you shouldn't steal other people's things. Apologise to her right now." Nessie gave her owner a wide eyed, 'innocent' look, then faced Willow with a small meow.

The common room was starting to look more and more festive as it was adorned with all sorts of decor.

"My family don't really celebrate Thanksgiving," the female told them, moving a box once it had been emptied. [b]"So I'll just stay at Hogwarts. Though I'm sure Headmistress Hamlet will be holding a great feast for it."

She didn't find arithmancy that hard - afterall, it was basically the wizard equivalent of mathematics, something she had been very good at when she attended muggle school. "Thanks, Professor." the Ravenclaw said out of habit, staying in her seat and getting out some things she would use for tutoring and seeming to have not heard his little outburst.

The Ravenclaw looked up when the first student arrived, announcing his arrival. He was probably just as short as she was, though she was fairly certain he was older than she was.

"Avery, you here to help?" Lucina noticed the Keeper of Key and Ground had also come, giving her a small wave from where she sat.

Heh. What a coincidence. Now that she recalled it, she had seen Ailin before in her Care of Magical Creatures class, but never interacted with him much as she tended to stick to her closer friends. "Sounds good to me!" the Ravenclaw chirped.

Before she realised it, the Slytherin had already begun walking, and she had to semi-run to catch up. With a usually slower pace of walking, she tried to keep up with the taller male (who clearly had an advantage with his longer legs). She noticed his posture - tall and proud, one that many Slytherins maintained. In her opinion they were just tiring their backs for little reason, and she preferred a more relaxed gait, with a grace and lightness to her step.

His guess was correct. With a nod and turning her head to face him, Luce replied, "Good guess - indeed it is!" Looking forwards once again at where she was going, she added, "I'm not as smart as other Ravenclaws to be honest, but I've always been a natural at it. So I enjoy it a lot more than things like Potions and such."

"How about you?" After that they had undergone this whole falling shoe fiasco they were pretty much acquainted, and so there was no going back from her attempts to gain his friendship. "Something like... Defense Against the Dark Arts, perhaps?"

They didn't face as much trouble from dark forces as before but it was still a helpful skill to attain. "Wow, really? That's amazing!" the female exclaimed at his declaration. "You'll have to show me some day then, and maybe even tutor me as well aha."

Luce's smile widened when she saw the male's pleased expression as he told her how he wanted to become an Auror. "I bet you will become one!" Lucina proclaimed with a determined look, even though it was him who wanted to be one and not her. One had to admit that it was an ambitious plan, but certainly an achievable one, especially if he was so good at Defence Against the Dark Arts. "My Mum was an Auror; she's retired now though." The Ravenclaw was incredibly proud of her mother for her former profession, but honestly was glad that she didn't have to undergo tasks as dangerous anymore. "Well I wish you the best of luck, uh...!" It then occurred to her that she wasn't 100% sure on his name, and that they never really made that exchange since their priorities had been on the shoe and then getting to class.
