[fancypost bordercolor=transparent; width: 450px]Logically, he knew he should be upset about his mother running off. He knew family was family and you should love them no matter what, but... But the way she hid him from the world, her strict rules, her drunken bouts of rage... Those were harder to love. And the fact that she just walked out on him. It made him mad, and he felt guilty because of it. Surely, there was a reason for her leaving. Was it him? Had he done something?

The thought made his stomach churn. No, he had done everything right. He had followed her rules to a T. Every one of her stupid, uncalled for rules, he had obeyed. Not once had he broken her laws. This wasn't his fault. This was out of his hands.

Shutting October orange eyes, the tom sniffed the air, head lopped to the side as an unfamiliar scent invaded his nostrils. What was that? He had been so sheltered he hadn't even heard of the idea of other creatures living together in harmony. It was a concept his mother had never taught him, in fear he would run off and join one of these groups. Curiosity now piqued, he strolled forward towards WindClan's border.

As soon as he reached the scent marker, the charcoal tabby stumbled over his too-big paws and fell flat on his face. Tears brimmed in his eyes, however he giggled at himself. The pain was bad, of course, yet his actions were funnier. Maybe one day he'd learn to live with his disproportionate body. Or maybe he'd grown into it. Hobbling back to his feet and wiping tears that threatened to spill away with the back of his paw, he hesitated. Obviously, someone lived here. He wasn't about to go waltzing into someone else's land. "Hello?" He called.

[fancypost bordercolor=transparent; width: 450px]Eph blinked in awe as another creature approached. And a dog at that. He didn't think he'd ever actually seen a canine in his life. Mentally, he cursed his mother for not telling him about things like this -- different animals, other groups, and probably a multitude more. At her words, he giggled again, then sniffled. "Yeah, I'm good! I just fell." He said, even though she had witnessed his little trip. At her next question, confusion flickered across his soft features. Name and... business? He'd heard that word before, but was still unfamiliar with the meaning. Was she asking what he was doing here?

"I'm Eph-em-er-is. Ephemeris!" He said, drawing out the syllables when he first stated his alias. He knew it had something to do with space, but didn't know what it really meant. Besides, it was long and difficult for his to say. "You can call me Eph, though!" He said, grinning like a fool. Now for the more difficult part -- his business. His nonexistent brow furrowed as he began thinking. What all could he do here?

"Um, what is this place?" The tabby asked after awhile, blinking wide eyes. "And can... Can I stay here?" He asked, placing the words carefully. He wanted to be polite as possible and knew he had a reputation of putting his foot in his mouth. Was he being too pushy? He hoped not. "My mommy is gone 'nd I don't have nowhere else to go." He added in quickly. He didn't want her thinking he was some sort of freeloader. Or maybe that would make her think he was even more of a freeloader. Oh well. What was the worst thing that could happen?

He jumped when another approached. How many were there? At his question, he thrust a huge paw towards the pup. "My feet are big!" He explained, however his voice was cheerful. "They're hard to use." He said, ending his sentence with a firm nod. His smile faltered a tiny bit at the other's hostile posture and harsh words. He swallowed thickly, but pushed past the urge to cry yet again. "Yeah, I guess I was." He mumbled with a sheepish laugh.

[fancypost bordercolor=transparent; width: 450px]Eph frowned at Batpup's harsh words. Gosh, he seemed so touchy. Maybe he didn't get enough sleep. He slowly lowered his massive paw, bummed. But his mood quickly brightened when he was begrudgingly accepted. "Really?!" He said incredulously. "Thank you thank you thank you!" He said, hopping up and down. His orange eyes landed on the silent tiger and he returned the wave with a cheeky grin. "So where you all live?" He asked. Surely they came from somewhere.

[fancypost bordercolor=transparent; width: 450px]What the newly-joined cat was doing on the border, well, he didn't know. But he was glad he did, because there were others. He quickly waddled over, grinning like a fool. He waved his paw at the other, orange eyes crinkling. "Hi!" He chirped, but said no more.

[fancypost bordercolor=transparent; width: 450px]Another joiner! How cool! Eph waggled his rear in glee, much like a dog. There were a lot of dogs in WindClan; maybe he'd turn into one! "I think there's a..." He paused, brows knit as he focused on the words the rather-rude pup had spoke to him early. "Auto-acceptance policy. So... welcome!" He chittered, hoping he was right. A smile was drawn onto his features as he inspected the nervous-looking newcomer. "I just joined, too. The name's Ephemeris!" He greeted sweetly.

    [/fancypost]

[fancypost bordercolor=transparent; width: 450px]What was a weekly task? He assumed he knew, as the name was rather telling, but maybe he was wrong? Only one way to find out. "Me, please!" He said. Hopefully it was something fun.

    [/fancypost]

[fancypost bordercolor=transparent; width: 450px]Ephemeris had only just joined, and was still rather confused about, well, everything. He'd never heard of a clan before this, and now he was apart of one. Surely there were traditions and rituals, right? Were there other clans? How many people were in WindClan? He had so many questions, it was making his head spin. With a sigh, the dark tabby sat down in the middle of camp, watching members come and go. "I wanna get to know you all!" He finally said, hopping to his paws. If he was going to make it in this clan, he needed to get to know some people, right? Waiting for someone to come and introduce himself, he smiled.

    // hella rushed

[fancypost bordercolor=transparent; width: 450px]As the cloaked pup came into view out of nowhere, Eph yelped and stumbled backwards. His heart was beating in his ears, his orange eyes wide and full of shock. "H-How did you do that?" He stammered, incredulous. One of the many things his mother had failed to inform him of was powers -- they were quite a common thing among the creatures, but he never knew. He blinked his full-moon eyes a few times, trying to make sure that this was real, that Batpup had quite literally materialized out of thing air. He swallowed a bulge in his throat, trying to his the shock clear on his face. "Um, yeah, I remember you." His voice was one octave higher than it usually was, an edge of hysteria underlying it. This day was getting stranger and stranger.

He watched as the vaguely familiar form of Daykit made her way over, and was thankful she walked and didn't poof. He would've had an aneurysm. His breathing steadied back to normal, however he was still awe-stricken by the magic that Batpup had so casually displayed. He nodded at her and forced a smile onto his lips. He prepared to speak when another creature entered the scene. Was no one afraid that the canine had just did that, whatever it was? God, he must be going crazy! He smiled again at the tiger, slowly but surely regaining his posture. "I'm Ephemeris. Nice to meet you! And see you two again." He said, shooting Batpup and Daykit another grin.

[fancypost bordercolor=transparent; width: 450px]While Eph lived a very, very sheltered life, he did know what books were. But the books he was allowed read were non-fictional reads. Boring things, if you asked him. Hearing the commotion, the scrawny feline stumbled over, cursing his paws as he did so. He watched an irritated-looking Cocoa, confusion flicking across his face. He said nothing, not wanting to say the wrong thing.

    [/fancypost]

[fancypost bordercolor=transparent; width: 450px]Eph hadn't been about for a long time. In that bout of inactivity, he had learned a lot more about WindClan. But there was still so much more he had to figure out. He only had the basics down, but that was far more than he knew upon joining. And during that time, he had grown. A lot. He was less childish and silly, and more serious. Of course, he wasn't all business. In fact, he was still rather fun. Just less immature.

"Um, hello." He called out into camp, a sheepish grin on his face. His voice had lowered a few octaves. He didn't think anything of it; maybe he had just gone through a growth spurt. "I'm holding a second meet and greet over here, since I haven't been around lately." He said, taking a seat. His dark fur was in a wild disarray, but he didn't care. It looked good on him, anyway.

    [/fancypost]

[fancypost bordercolor=transparent; width: 450px]Uh oh. Eph was afraid of, like, everything. But he wanted to appear tough in front of his clanmates, especially since he'd grown a lot since he last showed his face. Putting on a serious expression, he strode over. "I -- uh." He cleared his throat. "I'll listen." He finished, his voice now lower than it already was. He wanted to appear mature and not scared out of his wits. He affirmed his words with a quick nod of his head. His heart was already beating out of his chest; how would he go through this?

    [/fancypost]

    [fancypost bordercolor=transparent; width: 450px]"Whoa."

Eph breathed upon seeing the strangely mutated creature. He had never seen anything like them! He couldn't help but feel a stab of fear upon looking at the large... thing. His orange eyes were like two full moons, his mouth forming a small 'o'. What were they? He resisted the urge to reach out and touch their rubbery skin; that would be rude, he told himself over and over again. He realized he was staring, but was unable to tear his gaze away. He blinked a few times before speaking. "I'm Eph. Ephemeris." He said, the words choked out.

    [/fancypost]

[fancypost bordercolor=transparent; width: 450px]Eph had been strolling down the streets, looking for something to catch his attention. He spotted the duo and grinned. Here was something. He trotted over, occasionally tripping over his still-too-big paws, but managed not to fall face-first into the dirt. For now. He only recognized Cherviltea, and even then he didn't know the deputy all too well. "Hey," he rumbled smoothly, toothy grin lighting up his features. "I'm Ephemeris." He introduced politely, however still happily.

    [/fancypost]

[fancypost bordercolor=transparent; width: 450px]Eph still hadn't gotten used to powers. So many of his clanmates possessed one or the other, and he couldn't help but feel a pang of jealousy. Why wasn't he special like them? He was boring -- utterly normal. It stung him. But he managed to put those thoughts behind him; for now, at least. He grinned at the unfamiliar creature standing in front of him, waiting quietly for a response.

    [/fancypost]

[fancypost bordercolor=transparent; width: 450px]Sparring? His stomach churned at the thought. He wasn't a fan of fighting, not at all. He was utterly pacifistic. Whether that seeded from the fact that he couldn't fight to save his life or just his moral beliefs, he wasn't sure. His rubbery lips were drawn into a taut frown as he approached. In clan life, he knew he had to get used to fighting, even if the group wasn't known for it. There would always be raids, always be captures, always be... fighting. With a sigh, he hesitantly took a seat, a clear sign he was only observing.

    [/fancypost]

[fancypost bordercolor=transparent; width: 450px]Eph was only vaguely familiar with the idea of ambassadors. They just came over and kept the peace and business up to date, right? Curious to know more, he trotted over, occasionally stumbling over his paws, before he slowed to a halt in front of the unfamiliar girl. He grinned a toothy grin before his orange eyes flitted to the basket at her paws. Presents? He had never gotten a present before... It was a sad occurrence, really, but he lived oblivious to the fact. He returned his October orange eyes to Wisteria, waiting for her to speak.

    [/fancypost]

[fancypost bordercolor=transparent; width: 450px]"Am I too late?" Came the worried query of the Ephemeris as he stumbled over, a look of fret on his face. He sure hoped not! Oh well; this was what he got for being so inactive. He silently vowed to fix that problem. "If I'm not, can I have one?" He added in sheepishly.

    [/fancypost]

[fancypost bordercolor=transparent; width: 450px]At the sound of another approaching, Eph's smile grew less sheepish and more giddy. He recognized the cloak-donned canine immediately; he didn't know many in WindClan, but the ones he did know were hard to forget. "Course not!" He chirruped. A name as interesting as his, it wasn't going to escape his mind. He still didn't quite get the whole clan name thing. And Batpup's especially. A bat couldn't be a dog, right? He'd seen some strange creatures in his time here, but certainly not a bat-dog.

"Trying to get a feel for clan-life, I guess. I got busy." He laughed with a shrug. He'd been too busy doing research on WindClan; the ranks, the history, the territory, the everything. It was a lot of information, but he was slowly getting the hang of living in a clan. "What did I miss?" He asked with a toothy grin.
