[center][fancypost=width:430px;text-align:justify][size=9]it was always cute seeing the apprentices try to stand up for themselves. really, it was. at least, cute in the way that a fallen baby bird hopping around was. the six-moon-old was far from something fearsome in the eyes of the thunderclanner. being threatened by a kit was nothing to take to heart. of course, the child could use to learn some manners when speaking to superiors, but he wasn't about to cross a border to smack some sense into the delusional charcoal tom. let his own clan deal with his idiocy.
whitepaw's attempt to quell the rising storm should have been appreciated, but all it was was frowned upon. so passive and naive. they'd never get anywhere rolling over and metaphorically exposing their bellies to everyone. thunderclan was supposed to be grand and powerful, yet here they were near groveling while tossing around half-hearted threats that fell deafly on those they were intended for. that was until audenine stepped up.
truth be told, the maine coon was frightening in a right. he had a size that went nearly unmatched, and enough power to down several cats alone should he ever feel the need. from that perspective, addercry could actually respect -maybe even admire the masculine. and, even if he didn't quite see the use of having the deputy around, the younger of the pair couldn't say he didn't see the potential in the tom. there was a certain air of imposing danger that came down like a heavy cloud when someone of that stature lay down a threat that big. were he being honest here, too, adder would gladly fight with the newcomer should it come to that.
then came loststar. of course, he was unfamiliar with this tom, though wasn't very intimidated seeing as he was missing an eye and reminded him of some sort of cranky elder hassling youths for food. was he supposed to be imposed by some out-of-depth tough guy that stepped behind his out-of-line imp like some frantic queen? because he really, really wasn't.
"better get that kit back to the nursery for some milk. he's whining an awful lot," addercry scoffed as locustpaw spoke up again. and, when the other rushed to the border, the fur along his back rose in a silent threat as he joined the boy opposite. "do all shadowclan apprentices have such a poor attitude? last time one spoke to me like that i took her eye," he commented, vaguely remembering emberpaw. then, looking to loststar, he "could have mistaken you for her if you didn't look like the backside of a fox."
