[size=8]addercy, newly named warrior and same old bitter taste, came forward to join the gathering. truthfully he was a bit belated, simply catching the words because of how they carried rather than being there to listen. he only made it and settled in when thornstar was a good halfway done with her bout of whatever. the tom held little interest in what she was saying but was obliged to take it in. besides, he might miss something important if he were to leave like he oh so wanted to do.

at the announcement of stoneface's promotion, the boy almost whooped in her favor. really, she was one of the only tolerable cats in this clan of mousebrains. better she be promoted than someone else. starclan only knew how another dungface in charge would get under his skin. at least thorn and stone were both felines he could claim he almost liked. they saw things more his way rather than others. godspeed to those two for having to run this giant mess. they'd need the luck.

part of him drooped upon hearing of the old traditions being put into place after a long while of absence. too bad he'd been made a warrior beforehand. still, he'd served two extra moons in the apprentice den so, honestly, it wouldn't have even been need. that and he was sure thornstar saw how capable he was. this, of course, translated into his urge to fight once the topic of changing allegiances was brought up. so they were finally neutral with everyone? about time. as for shadowclan, those frogbreaths could rot in their mud for all he cared. thunderclan didn't need them.

// ic opinions. congrats neb !!

[size=8][center][fancypost=width:500px;text-align:justify;]behave well and you'll be rewarded. addercry had never expected to be allowed to attend a clanwide gathering for obvious reasons but it seems his self-control had garnered him more than just his ceremony. up he would stride to four trees, head held high and glower on his face as per usual. he approached with monumental steps and a solid path that, should anyone dare to cross, would drive him directly into them. he moved for no one. along side him and slightly up front would be thunderclan's newly appointed deputy, stoneface.

the green warrior's group split from him once they arrive; thornstar leaped atop the great rock and stone positioned herself at the base while he was left to his own devices. he would place himself close to the front, somewhere within stoneface's radius so that he could stay under watch. adder was no fool. he understood this wasn't a place to misbehave, yet he was also aware he wouldn't bother staying in line should conflict arise. staying nearby was the best bet really. one that might not work, but the best nonetheless.

[size=8][center][fancypost=width:500px;text-align:justify;]always one to sense animosity among the masses, it was to come as no shock that addercry picked up on the glare of pure malice stoneface had passed to someone off a ways. naturally, his dual-toned head turned to see whoever had managed to earn such disdain only to find himself less than amused. really, he couldn't blame stone for the looks she sent. in fact, he gave olivebranch one of his own as well, though far less schooled due to not being in the deputy line. could looks have killed, both olive and the associate she'd made in his clan would have dropped dead as nothing but shreds.

    "traitors."

audits twitched in silent agreement, twisting rest on the back of his head. the sneer on the warrior's face changed into something angrier, something uglier in meaning. finely carved weapons slipped past his quirked lips, fangs poking from where they once hid from sight. addercry was by all means ready to attack. neither individuals were on his list of people he cared about and getting a hit on either would fully be worth whatever punishment came of it. "this is a gathering for the clans. foxhearted turn-tails aren't welcome."

[size=8][center][fancypost=width:500px;text-align:justify;]all olive's deflection of his words would get at first would be an eye roll. a dramatic one at that seeing as how his entire head seemed to follow the motion. a guttural growl came from him along with it, his haunches pushing the rest of his body from the ground. shoulders rocking back so that he could press himself forward, the tom would stand above her and cast a gaze down to the fem. while he was sure anything he might do could risk him having to leave the meeting, at this point he didn't care.

they didn't have to share a space with a double-timing spy that couldn't own up to her own messes.

"oh, don't start throwing a tantrum just because you couldn't get your dirty paws on the deputy position. we all know you're just sore because you got kicked out of a clan you put at risk." addercry ignored her comment about the mates, finding no interest in either his cousin or his leader. visionaries narrowing as he continued to disregard thornstar's call for peace, he drove on. "since you care so much about butterflysong, it might interest you to know she died at the last gathering. nobody cared. why don't you just save everyone the trouble and go swallow some deathberries yourself?" honestly, this traitor deserved it. he couldn't find anything but joy in the thought of her demise. not when she'd sullied his clan with disloyalty.

[center][fancypost=width:500px;text-align:justify;][size=8]it seemed everyone had their history with nightcloud. clanmate, friend, son. this begged the question: what was addercry to him? well, that was certainly harder to answer. it wasn't that he disliked the man of midnight. in fact, it was far from that. seeing who his mate had been and who he had become, the new warrior was actually almost inclined to claim he liked the tom. well, at least he had.

that was all before night had abandoned his clan.

yet, truth be told, the hatred he might have felt towards anyone else in the position died the moment his eye landed on the aged male. it was as if he'd had readied weapons, poised and aimed to strike with lethality only to fall down as if never having been raised. and there the van was, hackles lying flat and tail limply twitching in an arc that wasn't more than a nervous moment, the tip brushing the undergrowth with to and fro movements of uncertainty.

something welled up in him, threatened to spill from his mouth in what would surely have been some kind of pathetic whimper if he'd let it. as it were though, the masc's jaws were screwed so tight he could feel the strain in his pressing teeth began to sting with pain. the tension spread like a disease, first to his facial features that tightened into a look of utter conflict, then down his spine all the way to the tip of his tail, every inch of him shaking like a child in its wake.

    "n-nightcloud? i..is it really you?"

he wanted to lash out. he wanted to berate the other warrior so bad. "of course it is you blind dormouse." "who else would it be, genius?" "no, obviously it's sheogorath. don't be so mousebrained." nothing came out though. it was there - swarming his head like bees and lying heavy as a stone in his mouth. but, try as he might to spit out something crude to gain control of the situation, addercry simply couldn't bring himself to. all he could do was stare.

night stood there, ragged with age although nothing close to worse for wear. his coat was still dark as ever which was just a fresh reminder of his namesake, save for the spotting of white on his facial point. from what the dual-toned boy could see, nightcloud looked confident, perhaps even smug with how he just walked right over the border. how funny it was to be there with their situations reversed. the last time around that this had happened, it had been adder that was returning and night the first to welcome him back. he'd always been so damned lenient with adder which only further bothered the feline in question. night had always been so nice and forgiving despite everything. it'd always been he and-

    dapplebreeze.

that name still set off addercry. it was still one of those hair triggers he was so known for. this time, it would not disappoint either. having the name even rise from his own mind, the warrior was on edge even more. nightcloud had left after his mate died. nightcloud left without so much as a word and adder had lost someone again, albeit not one of the closer cats. not that it had hurt any less. after dapple had . . . gone, the red and white apprentice had been sore. she'd meant a lot to him and, in turn, nightcloud had too in a way. with an almost mother figure came an almost father figure or whatever.safe to say the the ex leader had cut him deep.

and maybe what he did next was out of line. granted, he was rightly furious (in his own head) but it was still rather rash of him. he would skulk up to the inked tom of ebony and lash out a swing in nightcloud's direction. the hit was meant to hurt but not to inflict damage, shown in the way that his claws remained sheathed. regardless of whether or not the attack landed as intended, the warrior would then hiss out in a voice pitched in volume, "where?" it was now that the fur on his back would be erect and that his curved sets of weaponry were brandished under curled lips. again, this time louder, addercy would question, "where have you been?"

    // grandpa piss,,,, he returns

[center][fancypost=width:500px;text-align:justify;][size=8]"give you our knowledge? let you practice and waste our supplies when you fail? sure sounds like we're getting the shortest mouse tail here."

the cynical butting in would be from none other than addercry himself. thunderclan's newest warrior pushed himself from the forest, frame of cold snow and mottled fire standing starkly contrasted from the dark world of greens and browns that blended behind him. his expression mirrored his tone: unwelcoming. taking a stand next to his leader, adder would set a glare hard as rock on the windclanner. "thornstar, all due respect, but we're smarter than just accepting such an unfair offer. maybe we should have the harebrain give us something."

[center][fancypost=bgcolor=none; bordercolor=transparent; text-align:justify; borderwidth=0px; width: 450px; font-size:8; line-height:110%;][size=8]// yikes didnt want to make an injury thread so i'm just going to time skip

it would be the first time in a week he would be seen leaving the medicine den. interrupting the solid alabaster tone on his shoulders were vivid meadows of red, some of which looked to be scabbing up again after a recent break in the skin. the areas were gruesome, that much was plain to see. with blistered patches, some much worse for wear than others, the burns stood out like a black sheep among a flock of others with white fleece. so obvious. so painful. his body rocked with a limp as he exited the medicinal den, his tail drooping so limp that he kicked it with every lift of his hind legs. the contorted features on his face showed how much pain rippled through the wounds, and just how much he was struggling to ignore it.

if he thought walking was hard, well then addercry supposed bending down was next to impossible. just dipping his head pulled the sensitive skin taught enough to cause him to physically reel back. starclan, that hurt! toes curled to stab the soil underfoot with eight ivory claws, olive eyes squeezing shut as the masculine fought the urge to cry out. it was a challenge, but soon he recovered with nothing more than a shaky exhale and a hard stare into the vacant distance. good thing the fresh kill pile was so close to the den; otherwise he might have needed someone to get a meal for him again. adder really didn't need that.

again, the tom sunk down, this time crouching as he did, and picked up the mouse in his jaw which clenched onto it to channel some of the burning recoil at the base of his neck that expanded all the way to nearly the middle of his spine. rising up again, the van hobbled a few steps back before sliding himself down carefully as he could. not that it helped much. the mouse was settled between his two forepaws, the feline shifting so that his back was as flat as it could be to save him the trouble of irritating the scorches further. he was expecting to be bothered, seeing as his incident hadn't been shared with anyone else. still, he lay guarded, tail sweeping the terrain behind him in an irate swing.

[center][fancypost=width:400px;text-align:justify;][size=8]normally addercry might've opposed iceforest joining him with a few cutting words or even removing himself and settling elsewhere. however, with a week of recuperation that'd ended in little change, the warrior was far too weary to do much more than simply consider the options. and so he resigned to her presence, though didn't acknowledge the paler feline being there. his eyes were downtrained, ears erect atop his head in an aloof manner that seemed to block her out completely. the facade would drop when she spoke, his brow twitching in that way it did when somwthing irked him while he attempted to keep his temper under wraps. "an adventure? haven't been out in days." it was clear what she was referring to, but the tom refused to let her open him up easily. no, if she wanted the whole story then she could work for it.

the next individual to meander over was his oh-so-lovely friend tanglepaw. of course he meant that with full sarcasm. truthfully, adder could do without her. he didn't hate her - that was reserved for savages such as sheogorath - but he was by no means on good terms with the other red and white thunderclanner. her words called his gaze upwards, bladed slits in dark pools staring at the fem dangerously. a twitch of his lips showed the pointed tip of one of his fangs which was close enough to his usual sneer to get his point across. "got into the twolegplace," the boy replied in a clipped but beckoning way. then, with a tip of his head, he asked, "what's it to you?"

the mere mention of where the upwalkers lived was enough to trigger a repeat of the event in his head. he remembered sitting atop the wooden fence, how his toes held onto it like a bird's does a branch, how his tail brushed the boards as he claimed the perch. addercry could feel the grass hit his pads as he slipped into the yard. the scent of the neatly arranged flowers hung in his nose as if they were right in front of his rather than miles away and days past. he really never should have gone.

    [center][fancypost=width:400px;text-align:justify;][size=8]"oh, get over yourself!"

the irritated exclamation would come from none other than addercry. thunderclan's most volatile member prowled over, his sour mood reflected in an expression that could kill if possible. his state was only worsened by the aggravated burns that balded his shoulders with raw pink patches. it was clear that he wasn't nearly as entertained by phoenixpaw's antics as marshkit was. who did this kid think he was? certainly not who he was aiming to be. all adder could see was some idiotic show-off trying to look impressive to the kits, otherwise known as thunderclan's extra baggage.

adder would near the group, staring down at them with viridian eyes that held a glare of judgement in them. his attention was pinpointed on the brown tabby who'd been attempting to seem like a legit member. pathetic. "listen mousebrain, you wouldn't know real battle if it nicked your ear." the warrior huffed deeply, the snort holding an air of haughtiness which he didn't bother to hide. he'd been through eight grueling months of training. this child had no place acting like he was hot stuff when he was, in all actuality, just some whelp playing pretend.

[center][fancypost=width:400px;text-align:justify;][size=8]like water to ice, addercry's expression hardened to that of a statue's, features stony and solid with deep etches that emblazoned the fury writhing in his stare. phoenixpaw's words before hadn't been enjoyed and these ones certainly weren't welcome by any means. this kid couldn't insult him over a fresh wound. that was proof he was more a warrior than the tabby would ever be. here this meek little rat was, spouting nonsense with his kitten coat of down, while adder stood there with scars on his body and burns that still hindered his walking.

"you can have fun cleaning your pelt after you clean the elders' nests," the masc grated out. his voice had dropped but his mouth upturned in a smug smirk. perks of being a warrior was that he had power over the apprentices that ruffled his fur.

[center][fancypost=width:400px;text-align:justify;][size=8]there was a snort at her insinuation - not because it was wrong, but rather the irony that came with it. they'd burned him. not in traditional way, yet all the same. the truth in her statement was given away when he failed to deliver a quip or anything of his usual nature. instead, he huffed once more, nose turning down to the mouse nestled between his front paws. "who knew water could get hot?" came the failed try at a light-hearted joke. really, he was still reeling at the thought. the only water addercry had ever come into contact with was from streams, rainfalls, and snowmelt. none of that had ever been hot. warm, yes, but not searing.

the warrior had gotten to big for his britches after his promotion. that high-horse he placed himself on only grew with the changing of the suffix in his name. the second thornstar had lifted him in rank, he was doomed to fall to his idiocy. no more limitations, he'd thought, i'm finally free. and, for a while at least, he was. adder was finally grown up; he was strong and bold and had a surefire plan to prove that in everybody's eyes. so he'd gone to the twolegplace in search of a bloodclanner. if he just roughed one up, or maybe even killed them, then everyone would see that he never had been a lost cause. they'd regret fighting against him once they all saw how powerful he truly was. unfortunately for him, he never got the chance.

unbeknownst to the clan, feral cats were seen as more of a nuisance than anything. the people had a problem with their pets going out only to wind up bloodied and missing a collar, usually taken by some foxhearted bloodclanner. combine that with the fact that some people were just exceptionally cruel and you had enough reason to understand why the warrior was recovering from such an injury. apparently one too many cats had trespassed on the yard for, as soon as adder had set foot there, the twoleg came rushing out yelling bloody murder and holding some type of container that trailed steam behind it. with the odd, plush additions on their paws, they swung the pot and the boiled water spewed out. the feline's reflexes had been quick enough to avoid being the direct landing site, but he wasn't fast enough to escape the splash.

to say it hurt wouldn't even begin to explain the immesne pain he'd felt ripping through his skin. the water dropped in hot bolts, the liquid seeming to pierce right through his fur to attack the sensitive skin beneath. he could hear the steam hiss a warcry and could feel the flesh begin to smolder and wither beneath the heat. adder had come home after that. the trek had felt impossible with how limited he could move without maddening the beast of a wound that'd been made on his back. every few steps he'd retched in sheer agony while his head struggled to keep itself on track. thank starclan he'd made it across the thunderpath. the past few days the wound had healed enough, though the fur covering it had fallen out rapidly as it aged.

"it'll leave a cool scar," addercry then said flippantly, hoping to avoid any more questions. it wasn't that he didn't like the attention or anything, but he didn't need the pity.

[center][fancypost=width:400px;text-align:justify;][size=8]"while you're at it, go ahead and choke you dormouse," addercry spat after the apprentice. had he not been injured he would have attempted a swipe at the kid's rear just to get him away faster. lucky for phoenixpaw he couldn't do much harm while his forelegs were near out of commission. half of him wanted to go with the kit just so he could hear what hairbrained stories the fool tried to conjure up. but, why stoop to that level? adder had far too much pride in his body to not avoid the twerp. let him suffer cleaning that den alone. he'd done his fair share of work - it was the younger cats' job now.

turning away from the exiting form of the tabby, the warrior would shake him head to himself, looking up as if pleading with starclan. "can't believe some of the cats here," came the words uttered beneath his breath, crawling from his maw in a whisper so quiet he might as well have not said it at all. "it's apprentices like him that ruin it for you. visions of grandness and whatever. if he even stepped onto the battlefield he'd be dead within a minute," the van then muttered aloud, both to himself and for whoever was around to hear. of course, he himself was guilty of that, though he'd never admit to it. adder was, for lack of a better statement, blind to his own fallacies. he couldn't see how bad of an individual he was at times. "not like that'd be a bad thing."

[center][fancypost=width:430px;text-align:justify;overflow:hidden]scarce as he'd been lately, addercry couldn't possibly turn down an offer to go on a patrol with their lovely turn-tail of a deputy. what kind of warrior would he be if he did that? lumbering up to the collective group of clanmates both new and old, the van would stare blatantly at audenine, eyes sharp in the metaphorical sense as well as physical, pupils having gone to near slits due to the light filtering into them between fingers of oak deities above.

roseate skin played brightly against an otherwise barren pelt of glacial white, scars rippling over flesh that'd healed from the sears of liquidated fire. ever since the wound mended itself, the masc had been pushing himself to get back into the field. granted, adder had milked it for all it was worth when he was out of commission. when that excuse fell flat due to being back in shape, however, the red and white feline had thrown himself into his pushy ways once more.

finding out that audenine had joined their ranks during his downtime had left a sour taste in his mouth. finding out audenine had become deputy of all cats in their clan . . . well, he'd have rather eaten a day's worth of prey gone bad over the feeling he'd gotten. it hadn't been pretty, that was for sure. had he attacked the deputy? no. had he hurt anyone? surprisingly, that too was a no. had he yelled? of course he had. everyone had likely heard that little fit.

"yeah, we might be too welcoming," came his gruff two cents. the meaning was hardly hidden. in a way, it was almost as if he were putting his disliking of the maine coon on display. "guess you can count me in as a late member. better go along to make sure you friendly mousebrains don't waddle over the border to pick flowers with the other clans." and, before objection could be raised at his tagging along, the warrior started off with a slump in his shoulders and a scowl on his maw.

[center][fancypost=width:430px;text-align:justify;overflow:auto]audenine was still an enigma to him. one day this bear of a feline waltzing into their leader's dream and suddenly he's hopping both clans and positions like some kind of indecisive rat trying to choose a way of life. it was preposterous, really, that stoneface would pluck this beast of any and choose to take him under her wing in her own brood. thunderclan seemed to accept him well enough; they never were a very bright lot in addercry's personal opinion. too friendly, too open, too damned foolish for their own well-being.

he'd approach the riverclan border close behind the ashen maine coon. his head was lowered to be on equal ground with his rotating shoulders, ears splayed in a way that made them appear to grow from the outer sides of his skull like the horns of cattle rather than the auditories of the cat he was. the usual quirk of his upper lips left the points of his canines exposed, one curving into view more than the other thanks to his lopsided grimace. it was clear as a cloudless day that the masculine was having far from a thrilling experience. the close proximity of the newly appointed deputy and he only went to worsen the situation, though addercry pushed to be beside the larger so that, if audy were to lash out, he would be the first to strike recoil against the movements.

a mark or two wouldn't hurt either. would definitely help add effect to the "i told you so" he was already brewing in his mind.

recalling his last face-off with the water-based felines, adder snorted haughtily. their tongues were loose as the water in the river, their brains no bigger than those that belonged to the sodden fish they ate. still, riverclan was better than other options - windclan was so meek and lenient, shadowclan was filled with murky low lives, and skyclan was but a cheap knockoff of his own clan. in comparison, river wasn't all too bad. didn't mean he took more of a shining to it.

viridian eyes that shared a shade of the trees in the forest he hailed from fixated with a cold solidity on the second-in-command as he reminded everyone to watch themselves. did he think they were stupid? thunderclan was leagues better than skyclan at everything. they didn't need to take orders like this was their first time out of the nursery. hell, adder was almost the same age as audenine. he didn't need guidance from this entitled outcast.

"as long as they stay on their side there won't be a problem." the statement was a low threat, emphasized with a huff that shuddered adder's entire frame. he wasn't fond of the fish-breaths, but he knew better than to cross borders. boundaries, however? if they were moral he'd gladly step where he didn't belong. the warrior refrained from hostility until provoked. of course, he never really saw himself as aggressive, more righteous than anything. so if he started yelling, he wouldn't see it as going against audenine's orders. instead, it'd be putting whoever back in their places.

    [center][fancypost=width:430px;text-align:justify;overflow:auto][size=9]// don't post until @Audenine @Branchpaw @SNOWPAW! @Whitepaw fire have posted ! thank you

they came with no ill intentions. on their coats hung the faint traces of scents that told stories of rippling streams and iridescent fish that swam below a cooling shore. seeing as they came traveling opposite the direction of riverclan, it made sense that the thunderclan felidaes carried with them hints of the waterways. solid grasslands gave way to marsh, vibrant colors dying down to dully patched neutrals as shadowclan's land came before them at a crawling pace.

addercry could feel the mud squishing between his toes like herbs gone bad. the brown of the earth dyed his pure white paws darker and darker with each heavy, trailing step the male took. distaste was clear on his face - from the frown pulling down his rosy lips to the narrowing of almond-shaped eyes, it was easy to see his unhidden loathing for the territory. last time he was here it was before raggedstar's reign. he'd come in a raid to rescue a kit that the frog-breaths had taken straight from thunderclan lands. and, even with all this time past, shadowclan had never redeemed themselves in his eyes.

but he was supposed to be on his best behaviour or whatever au-dormouse said. no fighting, he had been told. adder had half a mind to heed that command, too, though he detested these cats so passionately he'd throw chain of command to the wind and do whatever he liked if they rubbed his fur the wrong way. pulling alongside the bordering area, the van began to check the borders without a word. his movements were practiced, if not a bit lazy, but his focus was cast towards the shadowclan territory.

[center][fancypost=width:430px;text-align:justify][size=9]the first riverclanner to approach was, undoubtedly, bigger than he. and perhaps had adder been weaker of heart he would have found solace in the fact that audenine was with him considering the slated male's own gargantuan size. but adder was unfazed in that aspect. all dawnguard's approach brought on from the red and white masc was a downward tip of his head and a lashing movement of his tail that resembled a snake whipping round to warn off dangers.

the unretracted claws on this tom certainly weren't something that went unnoticed as the younger male tempted fate by growing closer to the divide between them. reinforcements were bloodclan's embellishment, and bloodclan were who he hated most. addercry's hatred broiled in a forge and was given to all those outside his clan. bloodclan, however, got more of it than others; they were the worst of all evils in his eyes. scum of the lands, bloodclanners were some foul taint to life. they had no honor, nor did they have dignity. the day dapplestar was taken by them was the day they'd fallen to the bottom rung in the warrior's mind. adder needed no more reason than this to settle on the teetering fact that he hated this tabby.

before something sharp could tumblr from his unwatched tongue, a calico joined the stranger and answered his question before they could. smart kit. at least this one could use his eyes and common sense - both things the former seemed to be sorely lacking in. despite this, the younger looked worse for wear. his ill-faring condition was only heightened by the fact his throat seemed to strangle words before they even came up. shouldn't be be in camp? before he, you know, fell over and died?

whitepaw speaking up had his hackles raising. "they didn't know and they didn't care," the elder spat out at the stark apprentice. his gaze fixed sharply on his clanmate who seemed buddy-buddy with the stranger. couldn't they just do their job without any talk? addercry didn't want the brown tabby to think he could do as his pal did and join in on conversing. in fact, it'd be prim and proper if that one up and left. that aside, tinypaw or whatever he'd said had a throat injury. if whitepaw kept running his mouth at the other it'd split open and the kid would bleed out.

[center][fancypost=width:430px;text-align:justify][size=9]"they're called shadowclan because they slink around on the ground before attacking you from behind like the mousehearts they are," addercry butt in quite harshly. there was an edged tone to his words that fully portrayed his feelings on their neighbors. they were, in his thoughts, nothing but cowards. they'd ambushed his clan, stolen a leader's kit, and then their own leader had gotten herself booted out because she couldn't handle some old bat and let him stir up a revolution. all due respect, he and ragged had been almost . . . friends at one point. that'd been something of a fragile idealization that'd never properly been maintained.

he kept his opinion on frogs to himself. once upon a time he'd shared one with an apprentice from here. that didn't need to come up again, though. snowpaw - shadowclan's, not the one trailing along with them like a duckling in a line - had disappeared long ago without so much a trace. she couldn't bother to stay in his life, so he didn't see a reason to bother and remember her. a shake of his head to himself and the warrior was picking up his pace. "stop dragging your paws and hurry up. i don't want to be here long."
