The male had slowly followed after the two, ears twisted back with nostrils flaring as he inhaled deeply. Yet another scent of a different group this go round. Just how many places did she join? Well, it was none of his business, so he kept quiet about it. Kodiak's lone eye focused itself on Lyra, worried for his Captain, but internally suffering himself. It felt like everything was falling apart all over again except in the future with a different soul. Pushing those thoughts away the nature spirit look at Sel, humming softly with a small smile. Since Lyra already asked what it was this time he remained quiet.

This is something for your enjoyment as it's going into a part of Kodiak's past, which makes it impossible to reply icly since none of the characters here (in The Skulls) existed at the time. did it on purpose. There's bound to be mistakes since I'm on mobile 24/7 so pointing any out would be helpful <3 And tell me what you think!

A long breath came from the Leshy as he leaned against an oak tree, light green eyes flittering across the surrounding oaks along with the lush undergrowth. Spring had come which brought new life as the Earth renewed itself, getting rid of the old, the weak, so that others may prosper. Yes, it was harsh, but that was his Mother for you. Mother Nature loved all of her children, but tough love had be dished out, as it'll help keep everyone in line. Not many believed in Mother Nature. The humans, they had this... "God." It was strange because how could this God create the whole world? Pshh. Humans and their weird religion. Though he supposed if it made them feel better then go for it. He had his belief and the humans had theirs. That's that. The seven foot male moved away from the tree, briefly running a large hand with long fingers against the tree, smiling softly. "Soon." The quiet murmur breezed through partially parted lips, retracking his hand, and took a few steps back. You see, the humans had no clue that they were killing people– no, his kind. The spirits within the trees. They were dryads, tree nymphs. Shy creatures that rarely showed themselves unless they were comfortable, which he had met quite a few since this was his forest. Now, back to the tree nymphs. They did move, so it's possible that if one believed the tree wasn't there before could be right. You never know. Oh, and some were hamadryads, nymphs whom had a tree they were connected to, so if their tree died then so would they. It was a terrible fate he had seen happen to too many of them. Humans. Never taking consideration that they could actually be killing something more than a tree.

His tongued clicked itself as he snapped out of his thoughts, and began to walk along a very worn down path. Not many of the humans had ventured into the forest, and if they did, well, they'd be racing out in no time. If it wasn't him harassing them then it was the wolves. Either way, if you weren't a fairy or within that family then you wouldn't last long in the forest. Just thinking about this made him huff and shook his head. At least they haven't had a problem like that for awhile. The extremely pale figure slowly shrunk from being seven feet tall to being five foot eight. Wouldn't want to be accidentally spotted, now would we? Besides, if it wasn't his height that shocked an unsuspecting soul then it would be his lack of clothing – lack of clothing being butt ass naked. There was nothing wrong with it, but the invading humans* were weird with that along with all of their strange clothing. Why wear so much when it's much easier with less? The Leshy didn't understand because the natives were just like them. Little to no clothing, completely fine with it, and working most of the time. Not the invaders. They weird with the puffy clothing, shoes, odd hats, and such. But, that was a different story for another time. The grass tickled the underside of his feet as he trotted along, enjoying the sunlight filtering through the sea of leaves above him. Light green eyes followed squirrels scurrying pass him and climb up a tree, looking away because oh boy, it seems like everyone's going to be twitterpated again. Him? Not really, finding a mate and reproducing was the last thing on his mind.

Slow steps had directed him to a lake, emerging from the ocean of oaks, and slightly smirked when spotting a figure in front of him. A silent breath passed through parted jaws as the male got on all fours, body shuddering and bones shifting beneath skin. The process wasn't long due to him doing this daily and practice over decades and decades. Now within the form as a white wolf with antlers, he crouched down whilst creep forward, totally focused as he drew closer, black nose twitching. The 'prey' was a young teen, most likely thirteen, with short, jet-black hair, sun kissed skin with noticeable long, point ears. And what was he doing? Seems like getting a drink– no, washing his face. Stopping, the Leshy wiggled his hips before pouncing on the poor elven boy, barking in laughter at the surpised scream coming from male. "Uh-! Wha-!?" By now the wolf rolled onto his side, laughing hard as the elf pulled himself away from the water and shook himself before turning to glaring at the other. "What was that for, Uncle East?" Once the laughter subsided, the antlered canine crawled over the upset male, nuzzling a hand of his affectionately then rolled onto his back. "Because it's funny." Chimed East, twitching as he changed back to his regular form, and sat up, giving one of those pointy ears a gently tug. "Ah, don't be mad, Pyrravym. You know I'd never intend on hurting you." A smile reached the pale spirit's facial features. "I was trying to wash my face." The younger of the two huffed, folding his arms across his chest.

"Did Selene make that for you?" Curious eyes trailed over the outfit that adorned Pyrravym's frame. Leather amor. It wasn't top-notch because it was more for 'playing around in' and just to wear for fun. Amateur. Seeing as it left one shoulder bare and short on the other side, and had a lot of straps going...somewhere. And it looks like he got some form of...pants? All he knew was that it covered the privates. "Going to war?" Came a light joke with a teasing tone as East nudged the youngster. "No..." Bright blue eyes landed on him before flickering to the lake, Pyrravym's slender fingers twitching. "Don't even try to lie. What are you planning?" Silence met his words as the ebony haired one stared at his hands. This caused the Leshy's eyebrow to raise itself in question, not saying anything because he'd receive an answer sooner or later. "Promise not to laugh at me." Blinking with a surpised expression, East slowly nodded at the request. "I promise. Go ahead." It seemed like forever before getting a response, but he held the elf's gaze when the words came pouring out.

"I'm going to become King one day."

It felt like a sharp blow to the face when hearing those words. Why? Why? "Why?" The question was scarcely audible when asked. "Why, little pine cone?" Pyrravym must have seen some sort of negative emotion from East's face because he drew back, looking hesitant and regretful, but kept some sort of brave face on. "Because I have to— I must. King Adorellen does not care about us. We are lucky to see another spring; without you we'd be dead or a good portion of us gone. And since you refused to challenge him and take the throne then I will." He didn't want to hear it. He didn't want to hear this. No, not from the little baby he had saved years ago after his parents, along with several others, dying from a fire caused by those damn humans. No, he couldn't let go. He wasn't even a hundred years old yet! Even then he'd still be considered a baby! Pyrravym was basically a son to him. Never had a mate or kids, and the instincts to protect the elven boy was strong. A fierce fire refusing to let anything happen to him and would kill anything that tried so much as a hair on his body. The overly protective daddy instinct was telling him to shoot Pyrravym down. Let the young one know that he was fine looking after everyone. That there was no need to challenge the King. That he needed to stay home, safe with him. Where no blade would ever pierce that soft skin. But, another side, the independent and free willed side said let him fight. That it was his life and he'd be damned to not let him do this. Though he'd also be damned if he did. There was no win despite what he chose.

East's eyes grew hot, trying to hold in tears of despair and fondness as he inhaled shakily. It was hard to talk with his throat tightening up and going dry, making it hard and let out a staggering breath. "Okay." It didn't feel like he said that single word, but he did. The forest spirit's brain was working furious now. Okay. Wait– Couldn't he delay it? Just get some more time? There's a rule to almost everything, right? So... "You have to be 221 years old in order to even be considered as a potential opposer." There it was. Disbelieve written on the elf's face. "No way! I'm only 13! That'll take ages before I even become 221!" Cried Pyrravym, appearing disheartened. A shrug came from East as he cleared his throat, trying not to betray any signs that he was about to burst in tears minutes before. "'Fraid so. At least you got time to learn how to properly fight." It was an attempt to brighten his spirit up some and it seemed to do the trick. "Alright. I'll do just that." The male nodded, determination clearly evident. "I promise when I become King I'll make everything right. I swear." The only answer given was a hum from the Leshy as he stared at the pale blue sky. East listened to the kid shift to get up, patting a shoulder of his before slowly walking away. "I'm really doing this for you." He could have sworn he hear those exact words as the leather wearing being vanished into the endless abyss of trees. Perhaps it was his imagination.

    Perhaps it was true.

a (probably impossible) potential friendship with kodiak through his kleptomania plot? :0

it'd definitely be long term since kleptomania is long term and there's no real 'cure,' but through help and therapy it can be lessened fuck that though, but i plan for him to have it for the rest of his life.

i can go into full detail if you're interested. if you are then i'll ramble about give you the details and two roles lirim could possibly play in it. :^)
