    Gideon swiped his tongue over his teeth, greeting the other tag alongs with a flick of his tail. Perhaps he was a little too salty for his own good right now, but in a brief amount of time he'd come to have the same outlook on Blackpaws situation as Nighttales did.




    He smirked, nudging the younger one with his shoulder. Honoured was a strong word in his mind, considering he just considered himself to be a normal dude. But he appreciated it. "You're the one who called it together, I'd think you'd best be the one to lead it."

    A spasmodic breath dragged water into the mouth and windpipe of Gideon Emery, the darkness beginning to close over his pale blue eyes. It seemed like hours. It was almost peaceful, watching the color slowly disappear to nothing.




    His mouth was open in a struggle to call out for someone, and his throat completely contracted from the sea salt. The angora's body was warped in an awkward posture; his torso was arched forward, limbs were flowing backward, eyes were gazing straight up in a mix of shock and calm. After three seconds passed, the bodyguard began to desperately flail his arms and legs, and his head had one continuous thought: go up.




    I have to swim up. Don't swallow more water, you bloody idiot! Go go, go!




    More seconds elapsed. He was running out of air. Gideon tried to look up to see sunlight, but saw none. The only thing he could think of to do was open his mouth again and breathe out, hoping to push the water out as well. In a failed attempt, Gideon would end up coughing, bubbles releasing to the surface. His body slowly begun to fall limp, his mind went blank and he gave up on all effort. His lungs had more or less given out, and there was no pain, just comfort.




    The clock is running down now; half-conscious and enfeebled by oxygen depletion, Gideon is in no position to fight his way back up to the surface.

    The angora could only vaguely feel the touch of a branch, and miraculously it was just barely enough to keep him from continuing his decent, but only for a moment. All Gideon could really think of was embarrassment. He wasn't able to care for himself, needing the help of companions, ruining their day just so they stopped and helped him. Pathetic. Never the less, the conscious part of his brain radiated gratefulness.




    Maybe he wasnt going to die.




    Another thing had touched him, seemed to struggle to carry him to the surface. Even in death he would be burdened if his comrade met the same fate. Unable to cooperate and help whoever these two rescuers were, Gideon would fall completely unconscious now.

    'E's quite the strange one, I must say. Wakes up in a lot of different places around town. Was recently promoted to Blackblood with 'im so I can't say e's doing too shabby, ya know? I often wonder what he's up to. He seems very... closed off, I guess to say? I don't know. Maybe I'll ask him about it eventually.

    Ha, they want me to talk about 'ol Frightfur, eh? He seems like the natural intimidating type to me, someone who could kick ass anytime.... That's dangerous, though, mate. Nighttales seems to trust him enough. So do some o' the others.


    Cant judge a man without knowin' his past, Gideon. I certainly respect'im, not entirely sure if I like him. The sod looks at me like I've done some bad * in my time. Like he's angry at something I didn't do. Whatever his problem is, it's not mine.

    He's the first dragon I've ever seen.... 'avent had much conversation with'im but he's got my respect. I 'eard he's into engineering...gonna have to ask'im to show me a few things. He's definitely someone I'd trust with my life, and the only one I usually trust with my life is me. He's like a dad to everyone, sort of. Hope he goes far in this clan, it's well deserved.
