[fancypost bordercolor=transparent; width: 450px][justify][font=georgia]Jasper caught Genesis's lips tugging upward in a quick smile before it was washed away and couldn't help but feel a bit flustered. Was she really excited to see him again? He pressed his lips together to fight back a grin, snapping back into focus at her words. An impish grin crossed his features; ah, so she noticed he didn't sleep? He didn't say anything to this, just raised his shoulders in a sheepish shrug. She seemed to already know about him -- what he was, that is -- and for whatever reason, it didn't seem to bother her. Maybe she just had her suspicions. After all, he hadn't told a single soul about his affliction. Maybe she was turning a blind eye at this situation...
Blinking dark eyes as she spoke again, a questioning look flicked across his face. "I was planning on spending the rest of my day with you." He said innocently, as if it was obvious. He wouldn't be shirking his Combatant duties, not at all. They weren't really time sensitive, and he could always finish them at night or when she got sick of being around him. But then, the words spewed from her mouth and Jasper puckered, as if he had just taken a bite of a lemon.
Spar? With him? Even if she hadn't known he was a supernatural being possessing superhuman strengths, she knew he was trained in the Army and hadn't chosen to be a combatant for no reason. He visibly tensed; he hadn't actually seen any action in the army -- well, the mortal army, that was. The Southern Vampire Wars, well, that was a whole different story. He hadn't sparred or really fought since he left Maria, unless you counted hunting, but that was hardly a fight. His jaw clenched together and his paws shuffled as he averted his gaze.
"I'm not sure if that's..." Safe. He swallowed, taking a breath. "A good idea." He finished slowly. Even if he managed to be completely safe and not use inhuman force, if he even drew one drop of blood, all bets were off. He sat still, deep in thought, so that he barely noticed her sudden drop in mood. Worst-case-scenarios played out in his mind, pictures of awful things that could happen flashing in front of his eyes. He listened to her almost-hopeful words again, swiping his tongue across his lips.
"But, I guess if you're really sure about it..." Jasper finally gave in. He was a Combatant, after all, and avoiding fighting wouldn't be a possibility. He mentally kicked himself for agreeing to do this. He could barely be around mortals, and now he was going to spar with one? God, he really got himself into it this time. Clearing his throat, he met Gen's eyes again.
"But if I hurt you, we're going to stop." He added in quickly, for her sake as much as his own. "And I'm just teaching you the basics for now." He only said the last two words to instill a false sense of hope in her. He highly doubted he'd ever teach her more than the basics, unless she become like him or something of his nature.
"So what all do you know?" Jazz asked. He knew clan cats usually had a period of apprenticeship where they learned to hunt and fight, however she wasn't always a clan cat, so that might not have been the case. He was still reluctant to do this, but hated going back on his words. You've really done it this time, Soldier.
