It was Saturday afternoon and Grayson was stuck in his bedroom while his adoptive parents threw a party. He sat on his bed, earbuds jammed into his ears, trying his hardest to block out whatever noise they were making downstairs. Why did Mason have to pick today to be on vacation? The young man thought angrily. Most of his Saturdays were spent hanging at his place, playing video games, and swimming in his pool. Spending "family" time with his own parents didn't exactly appeal to him, not in the least.
After shoving on a pair of shorts and his worn, grey, T-shirt, Grayson trudged into the upstairs bathroom to fix up his hair. As he waited for his flat iron to warm up, the young man shot a quick text to one of his buddies to meet him at the beach in 20. Grayson hastily dragged the iron through his hair a few times, until it was to his liking. With a satisfied smile, Grayson exited the bathroom and shot down the stairs. After a nod to his parents, Bill and Laura, the young man left the house and headed for his motorcycle.
As promised, Grayson arrived at the beach 20 minutes later. After he dismounted off of his bike, he headed for his friends car, which was parked a few spaces down. "What's up Gray?" Jace asked. He sported a pair of swim trunks and some ray bans, which where resting on his usual baseball cap. Grayson ran his hand through his hair while he thought up a response. "Not much. My parents were just starting to get on my nerves, so I had to get out of there. Thanks for meeting me here." The young man answered, eyes focused on the waves. The beach was awfully crowded today. Not that it would matter, though. Grayson's plans only consisted of grabbing a quick bite to eat before lounging in the sand, probably listening to music.
After stopping at the nearest food truck, which happened to sell tacos, Grayson made his way to the beach. It took a while to find an available area, but soon, they had set up their beach towels and Jace was already out in the ocean. Grayson laid, face down, on his towel as he scrolled through his phone. Once he found his favorite song, he hit play. The young man savored this moment of peace while it lasted, because in a few hours, he would be back at home with no one to keep him company but his annoying parents.

Samantha Owens was sitting on her leather coach, watching TV, when her friend called her cell. After pausing her show, she snatched up her phone and answered it. Almost immediately her friend's voice sounded. "Sam! Where are you? I said we were going to the beach, remember?" her best friend, Liz cooed. Sam rolled her eyes before speaking. "Sorry Liz. Things have been busy for me. I'll be there in a few minutes okay?" she answered. Sam then hung up and made her way to the kitchen, where her mom was preparing lunch.
"Mom, I'm gonna be at the beach with Liz, okay? Love you!" Samantha said before grabbing her keys and heading down the apartment stairs. Ever since their father had passed away, Sam's family have been living on the 4th floor of a large apartment complex. Though she missed the house, Sam was happy to move, because it meant living closer to her friends, and of course, the beach.
After unlocking her cherry red convertible, Sam threw her bag in the passenger seat and started the engine. It only took a few minutes of driving before she arrived at the small parking lot that sat at the edge of the beach. Samantha exited her car, once she had parked, and headed to the small cafe that overlooked the beach. Liz had claimed she would be there, waiting for her. Sure enough, before long, Liz bounded up to Sam with a large squeal and engulfed her in a giant hug. "Oh my gosh, it's been forever since we've hung out!" Liz exclaimed as they took a seat. Samantha rolled her blue eyes. It had only been a week since she had last seen her best friend. Nonetheless she nodded her agreement and began to chat with her friend as she waited for her food to come.
