On one hand, she could accept the jester as a king, avoid harsh punishment from him, but face jabs and insults from those against him. On the other, she could deny him, refuse him as her king, and risk the punishment that Tasukete was currently facing. She had not spoken a word when he had first taken over as king, she remained as silent and still as a ghost, refusing to let any attention get drawn to her.

Thank god she was nobody special. No doubt hell would have come for her quickly if she had been more than just a regular merchant. Much like hell had come for Tasukete right now. Par could do no more than watch, of course - to try stop the beatings was basically to invite herself to become a part of the punishment. But she felt sorry for the man, and this sympathy showed in her eyes as the merchant watched on. Yet she would do nothing to help, nothing to object.

Perhaps that in itself was cowardice - perhaps her whole reaction to the situation was cowardice. Par didn't particularly care. What was most important to her right now was staying alive, staying away from trouble, avoiding questions asking where her loyalties lied. She'd avoided it for now, and she was going to continue avoiding it, for as long as possible. She needed to figure out where her loyalties lay first - but even then she would not say anything until it had to happen.

For now, she would observe. Find out the best side. Go to that side. All the while continuing to be the friendly merchant she was.

Not only had they hadn't, they had invaded her waking hours - glowing gold eyes in the shadows that nobody else seemed to notice, the feeling that someone was right behind her, and seeing those damn gold eyes again in a flash as she turned to look. They were trying to get into her thoughts, too, she knew that, but she did everything to keep them out. And, for now, it was working. For now, it seemed that Seth was content with just terrorizing her sleep, and haunting her whilst awake. Par's gut told her this wasn't going to last forever, but yet she decided to keep her mouth shut about it, pretending all was okay. Because, maybe if she did that, it would be okay.

The feline had finished up doing a patrol of the border, and had headed back to their camp, picking out some freshkill and had settled to laying in a corner, chewing on the mouse, watching the camp activity. Doing everything she could to keep herself from thinking too much, distracting herself in observing her clanmates, listening to bits and pieces of their conversations. Soon, she'd throw herself into another social outing - another border patrol, perhaps, or a hunting party. Anything to keep herself busy. But she knew if she kept busy too much, people would start asking questions, start asking why she wasn't getting any rest. And for now, she wanted people to believe she was fine, just like she was convincing herself she would be.

Yeah, he could completely agree with the asshole-ness being a problem - one he was trying very hard to avoid getting involved in, and was hopefully succeeding in. Clans weren't fun if everyone was bickering amongst themselves, it was like a family gathering gone incredibly wrong. "Noted," he stated, taking a seat considering Phan had said there was more to come. He loved the idea of the buddy system - being able to make more friends sounded absolutely wonderful. And, the Ambassador thing. It hadn't been two weeks since his last visit, only one week, actually, but he figured he would go see Riverclan anyways. It was, of course, yet another way to avoid thinking, avoid his problems, by throwing himself into another social situation. Because that was definitely the healthy way to deal with everything.

Paying a visit to the clan he was an Ambassador for was definitely a great subtle way to do it. The feline had trotted to the border of Riverclan, carrying a basket which sported various goodies. The usual extra food and herbs, along with some little trinkets Par had found whilst exploring the territory - bracelets, necklaces, an array of twoleg jewelry that she didn't know what the practical use was for, but hey - they looked cool. Placing the basket down, she sat down, placing a smile on her face and waiting for someone to come greet her.
