100% agree, i’ve owned pitties and rotties all my life and currently own a boxer and a german shepherd with another shepherd on the way. that being said i’ve worked at countless pet stores, small time vet clinics, etc. and have met and interacted will thousands of animal / owner combos and the only common link to aggression i’ve ever found boils down to two factors; bad owners and severe inbreeding. given the latter is not a common occurrence in this day and age you can only imagine how many shitty people have aggressive dogs. you’ve hit the nail on the head, the only thing that makes a bad dog is a bad owner.

EDIT; alright so it’s been a year and i’ve learned a lot since then so listen up. genetics plays a huge role in aggression, science trumps feelings, aggressive parents produce aggressive puppies, it’s nature AND nurture not one over the other, and you can’t fix them all

in addition I always try to include small details like if the family had a motto, any rules laid down for the members ICly, any traditions, etc.

something i’ve come to learn in my experience is that muzzles, with experienced or learned owners, are almost always directly related to barking, assurance (bringing a big dog in public can be scary for some people so i like to use the pant-able muzzles to help both people and the animal maintain a more comfortable and secure atmosphere), etc.

like i have a dutch bloodline working german shepherd, both of her parents were professional guard dogs with her mom being military and her dad being police, so, needless to say she has a very prominent guard instinct even at 12 weeks old. this being said we’ve trained her extensively since she was six weeks old and she will only act on our command, despite this, like all german shepherds, she is very vocal. now right now it’s cute but one day she’s going to be 60+ lbs and those barks are going to be a lot scarier for people who aren’t familiar with the breed, etc. when going in public places with high stress environments (a vet clinic during a cheap spay/neuter day for example) we’ll definitely be muzzling her. this is not because she bites, but to keep the public comfortable as she is a big dog and people don’t typically learn how to keep a good read on canine body language.

in addition fun fact you’ll find smaller breeds are more aggressive and this is largely contributed by line breeding (inbreeding) to maintain ‘attractive’ features. this is especially notorious in chihuahuas.

you can message any gmod+ staffer! as for the seasonal names i would definitely inquire upon that as well ! copper’s answer for darkclan is hella spot on and as for the non-traditional names it is important to draw a distinction because loner / rogue names and kittypet / city cat names. in the books city cats and kittypets are depicted with significantly different names (i.e. brick, billy, purdy, etc.). a cat named by a human is bound to have a strange name in a warrior’s eye. <3

    YOUNGER HALF SIBLINGS

    name ;; tigerpaw
    gender ;; molly, ♀
    clan ;; riverclan, formerly windclan
appearance ;; a brown tabby bicolor whose fur grows darker towards her spine and lighter towards her belly, she is long to medium furred and, unlike most of her family, has a long bushy tail. set into her skull are narrow amber eyes.
personality ;; headstrong, snappish, territorial, distrusting of those who live outside the clans, fiercely loyal to those she holds dear
plot ideas ;; she pursues her sister birdpaw to riverclan after hearing about what happened to heronkit and her sister through birdpaw and develops mixed feelings on the situation feeling as if it isn't supposed to be any of their business, this expands to define her moral compass and will branch out icly
    other ;; n/a

i'd definitely suggest traditional riverclan and shadowclan ! they're active, have friendly ic and ooc communities, lots of cool plots rolling, and cool adopts in the adoptions board to get some family for your characters!

With non-traditional clans I find the most enjoyable concept is a well executed or original one. Having defined traditions, cultures, etc. allow characters to receive unique development and engagement they can't anywhere else which raises interest in the clan, etc. as well as contributes to the experience! An example being a certain HP having to go out and slay a creature and where something from them as a token / badge of office, etc. Unique ideas that add to the clan overall. As for advertisement I like creating 'contribution' threads where people can brainstorm things they'd like to see, plots, etc. This not only gets the clan out there but gets people genuinely engaged with its continued development and success! ♥

With the exception of the occurrence of some oddities, for example a badger wouldn't be allowed despite Midnight having existed and thrived in the book series. The characters are restricted to all shapes and forms of domestic cats including pure breds but exlcuding hybrids (savannahs, caracats, chauncies, etc.). I hope this helped and if you have any questions feel free to ask away! ♥

    fingers guns @ u

holy shit these are all amazing
uh,, i think i'll vote three if only because i'd adore to see how the concept is executed and written! ♥
