    it was going to be a long summer.


    though mel may have gotten used to the idea that her father wanted her to stay at olympian hill year-round, that didn't mean she liked. most of the year, it was alright; she got periodic breaks where she could go to her father's home and spend time with him before returning to camp. her only real problem was summer. there were always so many loud, obnoxious people that made mel go absolutely crazy; or at least crazier than she already was.


    but she put up with it every year and this year would be no different.


    mel closed her book before moving to the shelf to put it back in it's rightful place. she had gotten up extra early today to get some alone time in the library before the rest of the campers filed into camp. she sighed and mentally prepared herself for the loudness of the others.


    after a moment of just standing in the middle of the library, she exited, closing the door slowly. upon leaving, she could already hear auriella yelling to jo, clearly excited to see her. this brought another sigh from the daughter of mania before she paused again. glancing around, mel sent a quick wave to the nymphs who had noticed her finally leaving the silent sanctuary of the library. she noticed alex had gotten up, clearly to greet demigods that would surely be arriving soon.


    mel groaned inwardly at the thought of greeting new campers. it was her least favorite part about the summer. there were always tons of new demigods that she'd have to at least say hi to, even more so now that she was a year-round, four year camper. it wasn't like she had to greet everyone, but it would be better to tell the new campers to stay away up front than to wait for them to bother her enough for her to snap at them to go away.
