He had a cute smile that seemed to reach his eyes. She was glad that one of them was happy with this arrangement."So, I'm going to do all the work and put your name on it?"She asked blandly before smirking and crossing her arms over her chest. She walked into the classroom, it seemed like all they were doing were planning out the project so she'll have to pretend to be talking to Ashton. They had just read The Great Gatsby so they had to pick a topic about the twenties and write a report along with a presentation over the topic. Opal was a pretty good tutor, so she tried to think of a topic that Ashton would enjoy researching."Listen, if you don't help me then I'll take all the credit for this. It's a huge grade too. I'll try to think of a topic that you'll be interested in."She told him, sitting down in the back."Do you like cars or sports?"She asked him.

Opal seemed to curl herself around the egg, it was so warm. Her parents had when she was just a babe, she had no memory of them or of any sort of family. She never felt warmth like this before and the smile on the girl's face turned to a frown, her orange hair seemed to fall infront of her eyes. She pushed her hair away from her eyes as she felt tears sting her eyes.'Are you alone, little egg? Don't worry, I am too.'She thought as she stroked the shell of the egg. Opal then felt another presence, she didn't know what had warned her about the other presence. She put the egg down and stood up, her eyes darting around. She took a small dagger from her pocket. She then stepped infront of the egg, clearly ready to defend it with her life. She didn't know why she felt so protective of it, but she did. She felt like something bad would happen if the egg were to be destroyed. The girl would have called out if she could, but she was unable too. She was never taught to speak with her voice so she had no idea how to even call out.

[fancypost bgcolor=transparent; bordercolor=transparent; height: 200px; width: 200px; font-family: bookman oldstyle; color: white; text-align: justify; overflow: auto;]Opal scowled when he called her princess, but didn't say anything about it as she watched him sit down next to her. He was popular, but nobody seemed to be leaping up to talk to him."Sports? Hmm, what about the Red Sox scandal then?"She might as well choose a topic that wouldn't bore him to death if they were going to be working together. She didn't care too much about sports, but she just wanted to get this done."Or maybe Prohibition. They made alcohol illegal in the 20s."She wondered if he would even be interested in that topic."Why do you seem content to work with me?"She asked curiously.

Opal's eyes widened at the sight of the dragon. He wasn't as big as other dragon's, but she was still scared since he was still bigger and stronger than her. She could hear his voice in her head and she lowered her dagger, he didn't seem like he was here to hurt her. She looked at the dragon, a small smile coming to her face. He seemed to be speaking to her, nobody really tried speaking to her in a long time because they know that she isn't able to answer back."I was cold. I can't be lost when I have nowhere to go. I found your egg."She answered. She was surprised that she was able to think that clearly to him. She picked up the egg, setting it down infront of the egg though she kept her eyes on it. It was like Opal was afraid that something would happen to it if she looked away from it. It was clear that the girl was already attached to the egg.

Opal simply shook her head, listening to his words. She wasn't use to people being able to hear her speak so she didn't respond back. She simply pointed to her jacket. It had her name and a serial number. The orphanages were bad so people gave orphans numbers to slightly dehumanize them. She hoped that this dragon would understand. She looked back at the egg."When will he hatch?"She asked curiously as she knelt down, picking up the egg again. She felt safer with it in her arms and she was holding it like it was a baby. It was technically a baby. She hoped that it would hatch soon, maybe she'll be able to see it! She had never seen a baby dragon before. She bet that they were so cute! Opal seemed to be lost in her thoughts, she often got lost in her thoughts. All she really had were her thoughts. She felt her stomach growl and she blushed, looking down at her feet. She hadn't eaten in a day or two.

It was the first day that all the first years in DWMA were going to pick their partners and start on their missions. The student with the highest marks usually got to pick first and that happen to be Opal. Opal was a short girl and she was only 10, so people were surprised that she was so skilled. Opal was also a child in every way except when it came to fighting and school. The small girl grinned as she stood infront of the classroom, she already knew who she was going to pick. She just hoped that they would accept her as their meister."Lukas and Luciano!"She said happily, her one good eye lighting up as she spoke. She didn't know why she liked the two brothers so much, but she supposed that a small part of her thought that they reminded her of herself. They never really spoke to anyone other than each other and they seemed lonely, they also were very beautiful weapons. Everyone either wanted a gun or some kind of scythe, but she liked the simply long swords. Opal walked over to the two taller boys, she came up to Lukas's shoulders but was much shorter than Luciano."If it's alright with you then we can be partners!"She told them with a bright smile as she held out her hands to them. Opal had left her family behind two years ago and she had a feeling that these two didn't really have anyone either. Maybe Opal was just trying to put together her own makeshift family, but she decided not to focus too much on the reasoning.

//I was able to start! I found time.

Opal grinned at Lukas and then looked back at Luciano, he didn't seem as happy as Lukas. She decided not to be too offended by it. She looked at the two of them then smiled."We are going to celebrate! We can go eat food and go back to my apartment."She didn't mention the fast that she didn't live with her parents. Her mother was dead while her father was a drunk, but her grandfather sent large sums of money as long as she did well in school and such. It was enough to live pretty comfortably, but her apartment was much too big for her. It had another room in it that she used for guests, which was useless since she didn't have any friends to sleep over. She hoped that if they liked the apartment that they would move in. The girl was lonely, but she would never admit it to anyone."I'm Opal!"The child added. She may be skilled, but some weapons were relieved that she hasn't chosen. Nobody wanted to say that they had a child as their meister."You guys have really cool weapon forms! I love swords!"She rambled, since she was a very talkative and hyper child.

Opal frowned when he asked if she knew how to hunt and she looked down at her feet. Her mind flashed with memories of when she left the orphanage. They were going to kick out a little boy, he was blind. He was 4 and was even less likely to be adopted so they decided to kick him out. Opal had scooped up the little boy in her arms and had shaken her head. She pointed to herself, telling them self that she would go. Opal had been well loved by all the younger children. Her memories flashing with images of her playing with toddlers and babies. She had given up much of her food for younger kids."Don't worry about me. I'll be fine. I can steal from some of the wealthy villagers or eat berries."She then smiled. She refused to be a bother to the dragon."Do you have a name?"She asked curiously.

[fancypost bgcolor=transparent; bordercolor=transparent; height: 200px; width: 200px; font-family: bookman oldstyle; color: white; text-align: justify; overflow: auto;]Opal took note that he was listening in class when he said that he had heard about Prohibition in history. She was slightly impressed and hid the small smile on her face as she looked down at the swirls on his paper."I'm sorry, I don't mean to seem rude. I just..."She trailed off. Her eyes seemed to grow sad as she played with her hands."Nobody is ever happy to work with me..."She said in almost a whisper. People thought she was rude, mainly because she would always defend the kids who were being picked on. The bullies were the popular kids, so they made sure that nobody would talk to her."I'm good at school, so I like it. Music and school, that's all I've really got."She shrugged, her eyes looking back at Ashton with a small smile."I've seen hotter guys. If you looked like, Adam Levine, then we could talk."She joked with a small smirk playing on her lips.

The little girl listened to them talk and her smile faltered a bit. She had always wanted siblings, but her father never remarried and her mother died giving birth to Opal. She listened to the two brothers banter and she had to remind herself that they were real family. She would always be on the outside, even if she managed to get them to like her. She placed her hand over her eyepatch before bringing it to her side."You can cook if you want! I mostly live off of noodles..."People tended to forget that Opal was a child, a mature child, but still a child. She didn't really know how to cook that well and she needed a stool just reach her stove. Opal nodded happily."I'm excited to use you two in battle! That's why I picked you guys! I need something in both of my hands."That was party true, the other part was that two weapons meant more company for her. Opal grinned at the two teens, her one aqua eye beaming up at them."C'mon! I even have cake...birthday cake. It's your birthday today , right?"She asked Lukas. She had managed to figure out both of their birthdays, she was desperately trying to figure out ways to get on their good side.

[fancypost bgcolor=transparent; bordercolor=transparent; height: 200px; width: 200px; font-family: bookman oldstyle; color: white; text-align: justify; overflow: auto;]Opal couldn't help the little giggle lightly at his words, her laughter sounding like chimes of a bell. She then closed her mouth quickly, looking away."You do look like Grayson Chance, but he's more adorable then anything else."She then blushed and looked away from him, fumbling with her fingers."C-Can you not pick on other kids while we are working together? I know that you like feeling stronger than them, but you are also making them feel worse about themselves. It's the kind of stuff that can follow them for the rest of their lives..."She trailed off, tracing shapes into the desk with her fingers."I don't think that you are a mean guy anyway..."She added, another smile lighting up her blue eyes as she took his pencil from Him. She doodled a little cat on his paper then gave it back to Ashton.

Opal grinned, she was excited to actually get a cooked meal. She had just run out of the noodles and all she had left was a bunch of vegetables."I don't know what you need to make it, but we can go to the supermarket to pick stuff up!"She was still smiling at the two of them. She knew that the three of them had more things in common then what most people think. She was lonely and she hoped that these two would give her some company. Opal just shrugged at his words before smiling."I wanted to know and...."She trailed off, her voice failing. Her one eye looking at her feet with a frown. She didn't think she should admit she found out because she hoped that it would get them to like her."It doesn't matter, we should be celebrating Lukas's birthday. We can even buy balloons and stuff if you want!"She suggested. Opal hadn't actually celebrated a birthday in years! She was excited to do so with other people.
