Jade is a social hermit and doesn't like to talk a lot mainly for the fact that he had a rough childhood (can see bio for more details) and he loves fighting - it's literally been his whole life. He's in Scarclan.
Maybe Jade can have a little crush on Nepenthe or vice versa (no long-term relationship though, already have that in the future) and Jade, not used to ever being exposed to love, thinks Nepenthe is doing something to him or is up to something bad, and becomes abusive to her but only because he doesn't know what's happening.

He had been near the borders, just wandering, looking at the spears, and maybe encounter some joiners when he saw somebody. Not large, and definitely smaller than himself. Suspicious, he called out, "Hey! What are you doing? Hey!" Letting out a soft growl, he moved closer. If it came to it, he could probably easily defeat the other in a fight.
