He'd seen those kind of creatures around the island- a few had taken a liking to him, following him around and eating the flowers he left behind. He wasn't a big fan of them anymore.
Then she went on, thanking him for holding the weekly tasks, then asking how the visit went- and here, Marrow paused.
He could simply tell the truth, with a few things omitted, of course. Try to paint it in a light so it would seem like there was nothing to worry about. But, despite his brand new dual membership, Marrow was a bit worried about Boneclan, frankly. The clan was empty- only npcs had shown up when he joined, only npcs he had seen around the clan, the only exception being the leader calling a meeting, but seemingly going silent after that...
Marrowescape didn't want to lose his personal goal of merging the Skulls and Boneclan again. They had split over personal differences that were long gone, evident by the fact that Selfdestruction stood as the leader.
But while he didn't want to lose his goal, sometimes lying came back to bite you in the butt.
"Nobody showed up. I decided to get a dual membership, poke around some more, see if the clan even existed still- nothing. I saw the leader, once, but I still don't know their name, and they were the only non-NPC I saw at all while I was there. BUT."
He sat up straighter, ears perked, emphasizing his last word.
"Give them a week. Please. Boneclan used to be the same clan as the Skulls, before the Skulls led a revolution- or it was the other way around, maybe, I don't remember. Our history is deeply connected with theirs, let me try to swing them over to our side. Who knows. Maybe we'll get more than an ally out of this."
Marrow decided to tell the truth, but not without an addendum added to the end, hopefully persuading Sel to give them just a little more time. He really only needed a few days, in all honesty.
The little note towards the end that he just needed to be around a bit more and he would be promoted made Marrow a bit more relaxed with what he had just asked of the leader. Usually he preferred to be self sufficient, so he didn't owe somebody all those political niceties that were usually just a guise for sucking up, in his opinion. Asking something of the leader? Definitely put him in their debt. It made it a bit better that Sel was definitely a better leader, in his opinion, than Jekyll and Hyde had been. They had been.... A bit more traditional in values.
