Many moons ago the tribe lived in peace, led by the gracious wolf Amoux. On the verge of new discoveries, an omen was spoken yet dismissed as a bad dream. A stranger arrived on the border, and she shook the whole pack from within. She was a charming foreigner with tales the tribe could never have fathomed. She spoke of life past the borders, enticing her audience with the promise of lavishes beyond their wildest dreams. Amoux was swift to allow her to become apart of the pack, and so she stuck out like a ruby in a diamond mine.
During the beginning of the stranger's stay, two wolves were born to the alpha that would alter history. As the sons grew and matured, they began to notice a shift in the atmosphere. On a fine spring morning, the pair of yearlings experienced their father's death. The stranger, welcomed and adored by the pack, challenged Amoux out of cold-blood. The alpha refused to fight, sure his pack would defend him, yet underneath the trance rested lies and conspiracies. Slaughtered in front of his family, Amoux had lost, and the stranger became the new ruler.
During her reign, the queen released the pack from their spiritual beliefs. She forced upon them a religion from her own residence, one that they could never trust in. While the alphaess kept the favor of her liberal friends, behind the scenes the resentment grew. The true shaman of the pack, Minette, sought wisdom from the Moon Tree. She was enlightened with an idea, so with her most loyal friend, they forged the Lunar Alliance. Every full moon the wolves met by the Moon Tree, plotting a revolution against their tyrant.
During the night the wolves of the alliance vanished, leaving those behind to suffer the consequences of their treachery. Upon seeing this, the furious queen followed to retrieve them all. Once found, friends turned on each other and families broke into pure war. Blood shed, hatred, and deception filled the once loving tribe. With both numbers falling, the shaman knew the queen must be killed in order to halt this battle. She sent the alphas two young sons, Zadig and Aymeric, to flee for help.
For two days and two nights the fighting continued. Dawn of the third day was met with distant howls. The sons had returned with reinforcements-- domestic canines. It was their last hope, but the extra willing bodies helped to push the queen's army back. As the night approached and the pale moon rose, the alphaess was in the jaws of the shaman, never to be seen again. Those who stood beside the queen were exiled. Those who fought for their ancestors were honored, and thus began a new generation for the tribe.

As a pup, each wolf is developing their skills and personality that will determine their feathers. Once they come of age, a wolf is ready to get their first feather. The young wolves will travel either solo or in packs to the destination of where their birds tend to roam. It is then up to them how they want to get their feather. Killing a bird is forbidden, and is punishable by being thrown into an omega position. Wolves are encouraged to scavenge feathers. This can take days or weeks, depending on the season that they leave on their journey. Once they find their feather, they return to the pack. The shaman will then proceed to award the young wolf by entangling their feather in the thick fur around their neck.
Not all, but most wolves will go on more than one journey in their life. Since you earn your feather, you can have more than one. Each quest is just like the first-- except you usually are heading in a different direction. The pack has extensive knowledge of their land, therefore over the generations more wolves have been returning. It is possible for a wolf to be deemed unworthy, and the spirits will ensure the wolf does not return. If all is well, then the spirits will guide the wolf to have a safe trip to and fro.
Each bird is chosen specifically to guide every wolf in their predestined path. It's an honor to make the journey.

Each feather a wolf receives holds a different meaning. To the knowledgeable, it is how to immediately distinct a wolf and their rank. Here I will explain each feather, how they are earned, and the symbolism behind them.
Albatross
Given to wolves who are larger than the rest. This feather symbolizes strength and rarity, for these birds are hard to seek out on the coast. Rare and precious, just as large wolves are in the pack. Only a wolf worthy of this feather could ever face the flocks of the gigantic birds. Feathers are either a sooty brown or white with black tips, depending on the species you encounter.
Chickadee
Given to wolves who are smaller than the rest. This feather symbolizes a timid soul that may be more hardworking than the rest. Easily found, as to keep it as simple as possible for these wolves. Many past omegas have proudly adorned this feather, as it is seen as one of the weaker privileges. Feathers vary from dark grey, to lighter grey with streaks of white at the base.
Crane
Given to wolves who are loud, or otherwise chatty. The piercing cry of a crane can be heard for miles. This feather symbolizes those who can fill the area with cheer and song. These wolves love to howl, socialize, and speak in general. Feathers are a creamy grey blending out into tawny.
Dove
Given to wolves who are mates. Doves are always associated with love because they are loyal to one partner only. This feather symbolizes devotion and affection for mates, swearing them together until death do they part. Feathers are a creamy grey with a thick black stripe separating the white tip.
Duck
Given to wolves who have a tendency to love the water. This feather symbolizes purity and rebirth. Ducks were the first birds for the ancestors to notice molting. They assumed the water washed away any mistakes, therefore giving them a new innocent coat. This is considered one of the most beautiful awards. Feathers should be a royal deep blue on one side, washed out black on the other, and white at the tip.
Eagle
[i]Bald-- Automatically given to alphas of the pack. This feather symbolizes clear leadership and authority. It is also associated with being a regal predator of the highest ranking. These feathers can also be awarded to wolves who could be considered a "war hero". Feathers are white at the base and cut to charcoal around the middle of the feather.
Golden -- Automatically given to betas of the pack. This feather symbolizes shadowed authority. The wolf wearing the feather is a regal predator, but not all see it as evidently as they see the Bald Eagle feathers. Feathers are white at the base, fading into light tawny with darker brown stripes, and a chocolate tip.
Eider
Given to wolves who are secretive. This feather symbolizes a mask. The wolves who have this feather may be known liars or manipulators. They always have an illusory agenda, choosing to conceal their feelings and the truth rather than spewing it out. This feather holds a negative effect for the wearer, and is another one considered to be weak, but more so pathetic. These wolves are deemed untrustworthy to their pack. Feathers are scorched white on one face of the feather, while on the other they're cloudy ebony.
Goose
Given to wolves who are aggressive. This feather symbolizes anger and possession. The wolves who earn this title can have sharp tongues, often finding themselves in disputes over small issues. They have short tempers, and are unafraid to strike first. Feathers can be white fading to grey, creamy grey fading to dark grey, or white fading to black.
Grouse
Automatically given to the gamma. This feather symbolizes attention and competition. The gamma is in charge of organizing and usually leading each hunt or fight. They are fierce wolves who can catch the attention of others, keeping them in line and in their place. Feathers are black up until the tip, where there is a straight cut line of white.
Gyrfalcon
Given to wolves who possess true beauty and grace. This feather symbolizes the pulchritudinous nature that others find attractive. A wolf so beautiful, graceful, and endearing comes along every so often. Usually a fae who can charm the fur off of her tribe mates. A wolf like this can earn the gyrfalcon stamp, yet it is highly uncommon. Feathers are soft and white with ebony dots fading into stripes.
Hawk
Automatically given to the delta. This feather symbolizes hidden potential. The hawk is a versatile predator, but is lower on the food chain because of its size. The delta has less experience and wisdom than the alphas or betas, but is still being trained to be a regal killer like the rest. Within time, this wolf can blossom. Feathers are cream striped with tawny and tipped with a pale muddy color.
Hummingbird
Unlike every other feather, this is not a symbol of status that you are awarded. A wolf who finds a hummingbird feather is considered lucky. Their attention to detail is praised. Because the feathers are minuscule and fragile, these are kept safe as a personal "prize". The swift hummingbird symbolizes swift fortune for the carrier of their wings. Feathers are tiny, and are painted orange, green, and black with a soft white tip.
Jay
Given to wolves who are silly. This feather symbolizes optimism. A wolf who dons this feather is usually the life of the pack. They're always in a good mood, and at the ready to cheer others up. They have a great sense of humor, and are as playful as pups. Feathers are a lovely hue of blue with pale dark stripes near the tip.
Kestrel
Given to wolves who are swift or have superior stamina. This feather symbolizes energy needed for survival. Those who can perform tasks quickly are appreciated by the tribe. The wolves who earn this feather shall act as messengers if danger ever occurred to the pack. Feathers are a bright tawny with a black and white tip.
Osprey
Given to wolves who are skilled primal predators. This feather symbolizes proficient hunting. Wolves can train their whole lives to earn this worthy title, while some are simply born with the talent. Those who have truly mastered hunting can earn it. Gammas normally are awarded this feather within time. Feathers are cream with pale tawny stripes that fade into black.
Owl
Automatically given to elders. This feather symbolizes age and wisdom. The owl is often seen in dreams of shamans leading them to visions. Elders are the most experienced in the tribe, and have much advice to offer just like the owls do in the spiritual dreams. Feathers are a dirty cream with thick brown stripes leading to tawny, continuing with darker stripes until the very tip.
Ptarmigan
Automatically given to broods. This feather symbolizes individuality and change. Each feather is unique, as two Ptarmigans don't have the exact same markings. Like many animals in winter, this bird grows white feathers to blend in with their surrounding snow. A wolf who has gone through a drastic transformation can also earn this. Owners of this feather normally have one feather from spring and one from winter. Feathers in spring are white with striped tawny patches splattered randomly along the feather. Feathers in winter are pure white.
Raven
Automatically given to omegas. This feather symbolizes humility and disrespect. Ravens are considered the ugliest of birds, and definitely the biggest pest. Unknown to most, Ravens are one of the smartest birds, just as omegas are some of the smartest wolves in the tribe. Those with this feather are shown little respect or tolerance. Feathers are a shiny black color.
Sparrow
Automatically given to subordinates. This feather symbolizes unity. The wolves who wear this are the backbone of the pack. They're the majority who, if they choose, can sway the tribe in the direction they want. The smaller feather may appear insignificant, but it does represent an important role in the pack. Feathers are small and gray with lighter stripes lining it.
Swan
Automatically given to shamans. This feather symbolizes beauty, peace, and hope. The white represents divinity, since the shamans are the direct connection to the spirits. Their unnatural communication has saved the tribe multiple times in the past. Those who wear this feather are crucial to the pack. They spread love and hope to keep the pack sane. Feathers are solely white, and much more soft than any of the others.

THE LUNAR ALLIANCE
The Lunar Alliance is a secret society that formed during the reign of Jupiter. It survived and still remains in the pack for a select few wolves, albeit the rest of the tribe assumes it disassembled after the queen was defeated. The society's purpose is to keep control of the tribe. Its members are made up of the most intelligent and manipulative wolves the pack has to offer. The alpha may be included in the society but not always; although a higher ranking is always welcomed into the alliance for deceptive purposes. The Lunar Alliance knows their combined intellect is more powerful than any alpha ever could be.
There is an overseer of the society that outranks the alpha if the alpha is not the overseer of the alliance. The overseer is the true ruler, and is elected by the council out of popular vote. The overseer will remain in power until the other members vote again with a vast majority in favor of a new leader.
To join the secret society you will be contacted directly by a member. If you accept, you must go through the initiation. Nobody is quite sure what the initiation is, for even the members refuse to speak about it.

Overview of territory
The pack thrives in a lush environment that provides every essential need. The perfect place, it seems like. The tribe lives in a pine forest, making their dens near a cliffside. The alphas and betas share a den, which is a roomy cave carved into the small cliff. The gamma, their mate, and the delta with their mate sleep directly to the left in a den made from a fallen spruce tree. The thick trunk and branches provide protection, while bushes have naturally grown around it to keep out any weather or curious eyes. The broods sleep in a dug out hole to the right of the leader den, the safest place for pups to hide. Subordinates and omegas sleep either in the open, snuggled near a tree, or underneath a bush. During the chilling winter, these wolves will dig dens from the snow that copy the design of the nursery. Up the path atop the cliff rests the elder and shaman dens. The shaman makes their den from a pile of boulders that crumbled down from the nearby mountain. The entrance was dug out to provide easier access for all wolves to come in. The elder den is a collection of bushes specifically placed near the shaman.
Beyond the forest is the lake, where the wolves pass to their hunting grounds. Since the lake has a bit of distance from the den site, the tribe gets their main water source from the streams that run from the mountain to fuel the lake. In the winter when these streams are frozen, the lake does become the main water source. Past the lake is the beginning of the tundra, where the abundant prey of hare, caribou, and moose roam.
Continuing onward through the tundra, after many days of travel, will get you to the coast. The fatty prey of seals and fish are promising here, but only desperate or journeying wolves ever dare to go that far. Polar Bears make their home there, much larger and more intimidating than the tribe's common Grizzly Bear. Not to mention the whales that will snatch a seal right from the shoreline.
Traveling the opposite way of the coast and over the mountains will bring you to the human facilities. Wolves have not explored that territory much, because most don't make it out.
Every summer, there is only a few hours of night time. Every winter, the sun doesn't come out for months.

Earthquakes, windstorms, floods, you name it. After a fallen tree in an electrical storm catches the camp on fire, the alpha deems it unsafe to continue living there. With heavy influence from the Lunar Alliance, the pack begins their journey West. After arriving they settle there, and all is well until they're hunted down by humans in helicopters. The pack retreats to their familiar forests, eventually stumbling upon an elephantine cave structure. Heading in deeper, they find themselves lost in a large labyrinth of caverns. Love blossoms, fears come alive, and the wolves find themselves in the mysterious claws of a new force. Will this be the new start they were hoping for? Or is it just a sparkling distraction for the end?

bambi had been scavenging one of many abandoned fabrications located within their current territory, feeding herself by living off of the appalling rats that nested in the walls. it wasn't much but she didn't need much. swiping her langue over her scarlet stained incisors she was met with a novel aroma beyond the blood. the fae immediately trotted toward the window of the structure she hunted in, sticking her head out to gaze down at the populated street. three unfamiliar bodies slowly roamed forward. the larger pair intimidated her while the lesser of the trio appeared approachable.
backing away from the window she was swift to grab her half-eaten kill by the soft tail, bouncing down broken stairs of the abode. she ducked underneath the hole in the front door, squeezing her lovely bodice out onto the concrete walkway. bambi remained quiet, standing on the sidewalk as the three strangers continued to walk. the smallest paused for a moment, and bambi's strained auds picked up on hushed nonsense leaving their lips.
the akita's curled tail slowly began to wag, her cranium grasping the idea that these dogs were friendly. if they weren't turned they were alright in her book. from her throat escaped a muffled bark to pinch their attention. the rat's carcass rendered her unable to speak, and she hoped they would accept her pathetic rodent peace gesture.
