Skylar and Oliver were best friends. They had been for the longest time. They grew up in this small and simple town. Not much happened here, they were basically in the middle of no where. They were surrounded by nature though, which she adored. They would hike often together, each time trying a new route or going deeper into the forest. They were seniors, they always had the same classes together which made it easier for them to stay close.

They didn't live around the block from each other like they wished, but they did live on the same side of their small town. Their first day back was about two weeks from today and she was thrilled. Every year it felt like something tested their friendship, to try and break them up. They got into fights, but it never kept them apart long. They hadn't been hanging out as much lately which upset her. At first Sky feared that Oliver didn't want to be her friend anymore. She needed him and the idea of him leaving her scared her.

Sky had always felt something towards him, he was different from all of the other guys and they knew each other better than they knew themselves. She never moved to try and get anything more than their friendship, she was afraid of any rejection and would rather keep him as her best friend than risk it all. As they walked they messed around and talked as they usually did. They teased and joked with each other while they walked.

Sky had a bright smile on her face as they walked through the bright green trees. She stopped confused when Oliver grabbed her arm and stopped her. She looked back at him and stopped as he told her to. "Why? What is the matter Ollie?" She asked. Her eyes scanned around them with confusion. She didn't know why he was so concerned and worried all of a sudden. Sky looked at him with a frown as he started to instruct her to start going the other way. She did as he said but didn't understand. "What is going on?" She asked, starting to get scared. If he was messing with her, she would kill him.

Sky heard a growl and her head whipped around as fear filled her eyes and her heart hammered in her chest. Hearing Oliver yell for her to duck, she got to the ground with him as a huge wolf landed in front of them. She froze as she looked up at the wolf. He was larger than any wolf she had ever seen. Sky was so in shock that she didn't even hear Oliver yelling at her. She only felt him pulling her up to her feet and she immediately started to run with him. She grabbed onto his hand in fear, not wanting to lose him.

Sky looked back to see now multiple wolves coming after them. They were almost the size of bears. They were extremely fast and catching up to them which made her push harder to run. She looked ahead but one had grabbed her leg and pulled her back. She was pulled from Oliver's hand and she was on the ground. A huge white wolf with piercing blue eyes started down at her ready to take her throats as he growled. "Ollie!" Sky screamed in terror. She felt a hot liquid on her leg slowly flowing down, she couldn't feel the pain that she should feel though. As he snarled and went down to grab her neck she screeched and closed her eyes.

Sky felt the hot breath from the wolf disappear and she looked up to see Oliver with a large stick. Tears had been rolling down her face and she didn't even realize it, they didn't seem to stop either. She quickly got up, even with her injured leg, and started to run but she got a few feet away and fell. Sky yelled in pain from her leg and turned to try and find where Oliver was, since he wasn't right next to her. She looked up to see another wolf lunging at her, she couldn't even scream out or look away.

Sky looked to Ollie who was behind the wolf, only to see him lunge for it. Her eyes were wide and her heart felt like it stopped as she witnessed something that she had only seen in movies. Ollie's bones started to break and crack as his clothes ripped from his body as he grew in size. His dirt blonde hair now covered his entire body and he was just like the other wolves now. Sky moved back a foot to have her back hit a tree trunk and she watched as what was once her best friend Oliver, now wolf, attack the wolf that had tried to also kill her. He then moved to stand in front of her in a protective stance.

Sky was losing a lot of blood from the huge claw marks that were carved into her leg and fear was making her heart race faster than it should. She couldn't take it any longer, she felt her body go limp and she completely blacked out, no longer conscious. Sky didn't know what she saw, she was terrified even when she wasn't conscious. She didn't know if she was going to die or not, they hadn't even started their senior year yet.

Skylar was out. She heard only muffles and felt the movement around her. There were loud muffles at first. Soon after they seemed to disappear. Now it sounded silent. There was some movement before that as well became distant. Her body then became lifted from the ground and her body leaned against the source. It was a while before she was set down again but she still moved. Sky could feel the ground underneath her and the turns.

Sky took a while to finally start to wake up. Her eyes hadn't opened yet but she could hear better. She could hear soft voices around her. She hadn't recognized them. She assumed that she was in a hospital. She could feel the slight pain in her leg now. Sky didn't remember what happened. She lost so much blood and after passing out she couldn't remember it all right now. She remembered being in the forest with Oliver and then wolves chasing after them... large almost bear sized wolves. She could remember the piercing blue eyes over her. Everything between and after were missing memories.

Sky's eyes soon opened and she tried to look around. The voices she heard were definitely in a different room, she was alone in the room she laid in. She tried to look around but she didn't have the energy. She was surprised that she had enough energy to force her eyes open. Sky's breathing was soft and slow. Her eyes scanned the room and it was certainly not a hospital. It looked like a bedroom in a home. She was in someone's home. She tried to look down and she caught a glimce of her leg which was wrapped up. The huge claw mark gashes were covered from the eyes sight.

Sky looked around the room and she tried to speak out to tell someone that she was awake. She was confused and worried. She didn't know where she was and she didn't know where Oliver was or if he was ok. Fear swept over her again as she tried to remember what happened to Oliver. She didn't know if he was attacked, if he was ok, if he was even alive. She didn't know how they got away but that wasn't her main concern right now.

Sky couldn't stop thinking about if Ollie was ok. She tried to call out for him and her eyes watered as her heart raced again. Pain filled her eyes as tears slowly started down her face. "Ollie..." she spoke out in a weak quiet voice. "Ollie..." she tried again. Sky didn't know what to do or what to think. "Ollie!" Her voice was a little louder now but still weak. She kept trying. Her eyes closed as she became breathless from trying to push herself to call out for him. Her eyes opened and she looked to the closed door. "Ollie!" She tried again and attempted to sit up. Her movements were slow and painful as she tried to push her body up. Tears still streaming down her cheeks as Ollie was still no where in her sight. "Ollie!" She began to cry in fear that he didn't make it. Her hands covered her eyes as her heart filled with pain and she cried. Sky couldn't lose her best friend and she was terrified that she had.

Skylar heard voices and she froze. She looked up and whipped her tears away as a man walked in. She didn't speak at first but simply watched him. He walked around her and seemed to be checking her leg to make sure everything was alright. "Is Oliver alive?" She asked in a weak voice. Sky's eyes filled with worry of his answer. He didn't speak, he simply nodded his head. She felt a wave of relief wash over her at his answer.

Sky looked back to the door and watched Oliver walk in. He was hurt badly, worse than her is what it seemed. Yet he was up and a lot more mobile than she was. Hearing that he was alive was a lot different than actually seeing it herself. She felt a weight lift off of her shoulders seeing him. Sky shook her head with a small smile at his attempt to joke with her.

Sky's eyes scanned his body now with a deep frown. She didn't know how they managed to get away from those wolves and survive. How Oliver got them here. Sky couldn't respond to him as he spoke. She looked to the doctor and nodded her head before she looked back to Ollie. She simply nodded her head when he asked if she was alright.

Sky looked to the doctor as he excused himself and walked out. She watched the door in silence before Oliver spoke again. He always tried to lighten the mood. She usually would have scolded him for that joke but she was too tired to. Sky held out her hand for him to come closer to her. She tried her best to move over so he could sit on the bed next to her. Her eyes began to water again. "I thought you were dead Ollie." She spoke quietly in a weak voice.

Sky looked down at her hand that had grabbed his lightly before she looked up at him. "I didn't know where you were. Or what happened. I didn't know where I was... I was so scared." She whispered fearfully to him. A few tears slowly rolled down her cheeks. "I thought I lost you. I can't lose you Ollie." Sky began to cry again. She was a mess and she felt pathetic for crying, but how was she supposed to react? How was she supposed to react with the thought of losing her best friend? "I don't remember anything... I remember being in the forest and being attacked by wolves. I had a huge wolf over me, I thought I was going to die Ollie... I don't remember anything." Sky cried worried. She wanted to remember, but she couldn't.

Skylar watched Oliver after she finished speaking. She tilted her head at him as he spoke. A small frown formed on her lips and she felt as if he was lying to her. She wouldn't ask now. What mattered was that they were alive, though not in great condition. She thought that she would remember hearing a shot, and that deep in the forest? She didn't think so.

Sky bit her lip and couldn't help but smile as he changed the subject and started to talk about getting food and leaving. She loved him so much. Whether it was just as a best friend or if she felt more feelings than she thought. She loved him either way. She couldn't help but smile seeing him happy after all of this that had happened. Sky shook her head at him and gave his hand a small squeeze. "I think that we need to rest some first." She suggested to him.

Sky was too tired to go move and then be in public. She just wanted to go home. Her parents were out of town for her father's business trip and they let her stay behind. They deserved some alone time together. She just wanted to go home and lay in bed or on the couch. If Oliver wanted to join her than he was more than welcome to, he sometimes would say over or when they would watch movies they would lay together.

Sky needed to just relax and not think of what happened, she would stress out too much over it. She focused on Ollie as he said that he thought that he almost lost her, even when his family friend doctor said that she was fine. Ollie wasn't a huge fan of talking about his feelings. She didn't really push him about it though. On certain subjects Sky had to try and get him to speak. "I'm not going anywhere Ollie. I promise." She spoke and gave him a soft smile.

Sky watched as he started to zone out. He was getting lost in his head. She knew that he was beating himself up over all of this. He didn't look at her, he looked at her injured leg, which she would have to use crutches for a little bit so that she didn't more her leg too much where the stitches would rip. How could this be any of his fault? He didn't know that they would get attacked by wolves. He couldn't control what happened, he couldn't have possibly go up against them either. It was no where near his fault.

Sky frowned as he kept his eyes on her leg. She was sitting up so it was easier for him to reach him. Her hand let go of his hand and moved to his face. She was gentle as she grabbed his chin and made him look at her. Her hand remained on his chin so he wouldn't look away. "What is the matter Ollie? I am alright. You are alright. We made it out alive and that is what matters." She spoke in a softly sweet voice. "There is nothing you could have done to change that either. This is not your fault... please don't beat yourself up over this." Sky begged him. She hated when he did that. He would go into this mode and it was hard to get him out. "If it wasn't for you, we would have walked right into them and we would have been dead. But you some how heard them, or sensed something wrong." She stared. "We are alive because of you." She promised him. She let go of his chin and wrapped her arms around him. She was cautious of his wounds as her arms wrapped lightly around his neck and pulled him closer to her. "I love you Ollie." Sky assured him. She didn't want him thinking that she resented him or was upset with him over this, she could never.

Skylar looked at Ollie as he pulled back. She hoped that he would just relax and not worry about it any more. She still wanted to know what really happened, but for now she was glad they made it out alive. She rolled her eyes and smiled at his response to her. "Loser." She responded teasingly. He always said something like that back to her when she told him that she loved him, rarely would he say it back.

Sky just wanted to go home already. She wanted to get some rest in her own home. She bit her lip as she looked back to Ollie as he spoke. She smiled and nodded her head. "I just want to go home. You can go home after if you want." Sky spoke softly. She didn't know if he would want to go home or if he wanted to stay with her. She would probably end up passing out if they watched a movie or if she was by herself.

Sky heard footsteps and she looked to the door but didn't know if they would come in. Once they passed she looked back to Ollie. She knew that people would start to talk and rumors would spread. Who knows what would be said about them this time. Including their attack, everyone would know. She didn't want to everyone to know, she didn't want people walking up to her and asking her questions.

They have had rumors about them spread everywhere before. People have said that they were sleeping together, that they were dating. There have been rumors that have been just terrible about what people have said, especially when she was talking with some other guy who she almost dated, but he turned into a huge dirtbag. Sky knew that it was two weeks away but with this small town, gossip is all they had to keep them entertained.

Sky sighed softly and nodded her head. "Let's just go." She spoke. She tried to move her legs but it was hard with her leg almost all wrapped up. She didn't want to be seen out like this. She hated this already. Sky hissed in pain as she swung her legs over the edge of the bed. She didn't know how Ollie was up and moving with all of his injuries.

Skylar had grabbed onto Oliver's hand to help her with moving. The claw marks were very deep, she is surprised she has any feeling in her leg at all. She looked up the door when the doctor walked in and asked for Ollie. She looked at Ollie and nodded her head when he said that he would be right back. Sky watched after him as he walked out and shut the door behind him.

Sky could tell that the man didn't seem very happy or pleased with Ollie. She was confused but didn't ask, it wasn't her business or place. She took her time getting out of the bed. She didn't know if her leg didn't have all of its feeling back or if she was on some pain killers, probably pain killers. Sky looked down at her leg with a deep frown. She couldn't believe that they were attacked. She had never heard of huge wolves attacking people, not in their town.

Sky finally got up and looked around the room. It was charming. She had never met these people, or remembered meeting these people at least. Maybe when she was younger. She saw that there were crutches out for her. She grabbed them and moved towards the door. Sky heard arguing which confused her. She could hear that Oliver was getting very frustrated.

Sky opened the door and stepped out. She frowned softly seeing the two looking upset with one another. She looked to Oliver as he looked back at her. Even when he smiled she could still tell that he wasn't happy. She simply nodded her head and moved next to him. Sky looked at the man and smiled softly at him. "Thank you so much for all of your help." She spoke sweetly. She walked, well more limped, with Oliver out of the house. She looked at him with concern as they got to his car. "Are you alright?" She asked as she stopped in front of his car instead of getting in right away.

    Rushed!!

Skylar raised an eyebrow at Oliver but then simply nodded at his answer. She moved to the passenger side and smiled at Ollie as he opened the door for her. She looked at the seat and frowned seeing the blood on it. She allowed him to help her into his car before she said thank you.

Sky's eyes moved to his seat as he made his way around. Blood covered his seat more than it did hers. She still didn't understand how he had so many wounds and was doing fine. She would ask later though. She stayed silent and drowned in her thoughts on the way home. Sky heard him mumbling to himself and looked over at him. She watched him as they drove for a little while, her eyes eventually moved back to the window.

Sky wanted to know so much about what had happened. She tried to remember but all she could remember was the fear and calling out for Ollie with bright blue eyes staring down at her ready to kill. She closed her eyes and frowned deeply. She could still feel the fear that she felt in the forest. Soon they entered the city and got closer to her home.

Sky looked to Ollie as he spoke to her this time. She frowned when he once again apologized. "It was not your fault. We had gone hiking in that forest hundreds of times before and nothing like that has happened before." She told him. She looked back at her house as they pulled up. Sky looked back and smiled at Oliver. "Are you going to stay?" She asked curiously in a soft voice.

Skylar smiled at Oliver as he joked with her once more. She rolled her eyes at him and watched him get out of the car. "Well I am truly honored." She spoke dramatically as he helped her out of the car and up to her house. She watched him pull out his key and unlock the door. Sky could remember him sneaking into her house when they were younger. When they got older he would come up and convince her to sneak out with him, they wouldn't go to parties, they would just hang out.

Sky remembered for her birthday one year he surprised her in the middle of the night a few hours after the clock hit twelve. She smiled to herself as she walked into the house and to the living room. She smiled brightly at Oliver as he asked about their usual. "I am starving... and yes, the usual." She spoke. "I'm not too sure about a movie, I will find one though." Sky shrugged and was steady as she set herself on the couch. She turned on the tv and went to Netflix to try and find something for them to watch.

Sky looked back at him as he asked about getting her another set of clothes. "Yes please! If you could get me a pair of shorts and one of your old shirts I stole!" She called after him. She loved his shirts. They were always so soft and comfortable. The material was much better than what she would wear for pajamas. Her eyes then turned back to the tv as she searched for a movie.

Sky found a comedy movie they could watch, action was too loud right now, Ollie wasn't a fan of romantic movies, and horror was not an option. She looked back to Ollie as he returned to the living room. She was disappointed that he couldn't stay the night but knew his father would want him home. She always thought that his father didn't like her, he was always sweet and welcoming towards her but she always felt this underlying dislike, or something along those lines, that he felt towards her. Sky was always too afraid to ask Oliver about it.

Sky let out a light laugh at his teasing. They would constantly wrestle when they were younger. They didn't really anymore, doing that now seemed to be more intimate. So when they did it didn't last too long, or with one on top of the other pinning one down. But she did heal fast with bruises, but this was much more than a bruise. "Says you." She stated. "I will get changed while you start the food." Sky suggested with a bright smile as she slowly forced herself to stand up.

Skylar smiled brightly at him and mouth a thank you to him. She turned her eyes back to the tv as she made sure the movie was set up, ready to be watched as soon as they were ready. Oliver knew his way around this place just as good as she did. Same goes for his house. She would spend nights over there as well. He would usually give her the bed or they would pass out on his large couch.

Oliver had always been her best friend. He was more than she could ever ask for. It was hard for her to not catch feelings for him. She kept them down and hidden from him but they kept growing. Sky was too scared to ever try anything with him or make a move. She wanted to though, hundreds of times before. She had talked to guys and dated one, but they never made her happy like Ollie did. She would always spend more time with him than them.

Sky pulled herself from her imagination and looked over to Oliver who had returned. She smiled brightly seeing that he had actually grabbed what she asked for. She bit her lip and shrugged her shoulders when he said that he was looking for that shirt. She smiled sweetly at him and batted her eyes as she held out her hand for him to hand it over. She knew that he liked that shirt, she was sick of seeing him wear it all the time though... but mostly because she liked it and wanted it. So when he finally left it after spending the night she hid it from him for months and wore it to bed.

Sky then glanced to the tv and back at Oliver. "Some comedy, someone had recommended it to me." She spoke simply. She slowly stood and disappeared to the bathroom on that same floor to change. She walked back to the couch and sat down next to her best friend. She sighed softly as she thought of what classes she was taking this coming year. "Calc, statistics, AP bio, English, sociology, phycology, of course gym and lunch... and I think I have a study hall?" Sky spoke a little uncertain. "Please tell me you at least are taking some of those?" She asked in a hopeful voice.

Sky took the blanket off of the back of the couch and draped it over both of them. She got comfortable for the moment, knowing after she ate that she would become more tired and lay down with Ollie as they watched the movie. They always had classes together though. At least two classes. Other than gift grade. But ever since second grade they have been best friends and have had classes together. It would be terrible if this yearbthey didn't have any classes together, one of them would probably switch around their schedule just so they could be in some classes together. It was serious business.

Skylar let out a laugh as she smiled amused at Oliver. She shook her head at him and sighed. "Of course you managed to get both." She shook her head and relaxed back onto the couch. He always did whatever classes he needed and passed with high grades. She always encouraged him to take more classes but he would rather rest and do his other activities than take more classes. It was understandable though.

Sky stretched and frowned some as he body slowly loosened. When the wolf grabbed her she had fallen on her back which probably had some bruising, she didn't bother to check. Her back was sore and she had a lot of pain meds for her leg. She brought the blanket closer to her chest and looked back to the kitchen wondering about the middles. Sky turned her head and went to ask Ollie but he quickly asked about drinks. "Uh... Sunday... and I guess." She spoke slowly.

Sky watched him confused. He had gotten up so quickly and disappeared. He seemed to be nervous or uneasy. She shrugged her shoulders and looked back to the tv and waited for his return. She didn't understand what suddenly made his attitude change. He was fine one minute and the next he seemed like there was a bug in his pants that she didn't want her to know about.

Sky watched as he sat back down and handed her a beer. She watched him curiously as she opened her beer and set the cap on the little coffee table in front of them. "Are you alright?" She asked as she moved closer to him. She took a sip of her beer as she watched him. She glanced at the movie that started before back to Oliver. "Are you still thinking about what happened on the forest?" She asked in a soft voice. Sky knew that she still was, though she pushed it back some so that she could focus on other stuff more. She placed a hand over his and held it gently. "If you are, let's just try to focus on something else, something positive." She suggested.

Sky knew that she would need to distract herself from it all and focus on something else. Not something that would make her think of the attack that happened to him. She offered him a sweet smile and looped her arm through his while her hand rested on his wrist. "Let's just watch the movie." She spoke and cuddled to his side with the blanket over them. She rested her head on his shoulder and sipped her beer as her eyes trained on the movie.

Skylar watched the movie with a soft smile. She laughed along with it as well. She noticed that Ollie was still uneasy and tense. She wanted to him to just relax and she didn't know how. She didn't want him to be worrying about what had happened in the forest and if she was alright. She was worried about him far more than about herself.

Sky had finished her beer but didn't get another one, she didn't really drink. She didn't drink casually that often. She drank more when they were at parties than anything, they go during the summer mostly. She had gotten drunk a few times and Oliver had to help her out on getting home. He would even stay with her some times. She didn't like getting that drunk though, but she never noticed how much she drinks until it finally hits her.

Ollie had gotten up and gotten their food in the middle of the movie. She quickly finished it and had curled back up against him. It didn't take her long to become tired shortly after. She always got tired after eating while she was watching a movie. Most of the time she would fall asleep before the movie even ended, that is one of the reasons why they eat in the middle of the movie, plus thy didn't always plan movie time ahead.

Sky stretched and sat up when the movie ended. She looked at Ollie as he quickly got up and disappeared to the bathroom. Her eyes followed him with a small frown in confusion. She didn't know what was wrong with him and why he was being like this. She shook it off and just assumed it was still about the forest. She leaned back into the couch and waited for him to return.

Sky smiled sweetly at him as he came back and sat next to her. His eyes locked onto hers with what seemed as an intense stare. "The movie wasn't too bad. It was actually pretty good." She spoke. Ollie was just sitting there staring at her. She frowned at him and was about to ask what was wrong. She was cut off by his lips suddenly crashing onto hers, it took her breath away.

Sky was shocked by the sudden forceful kiss. It was deep though and held a lot of emotion behind it. She felt a rush run through her at the feeling and she was still in shock so she hadn't kissed back. Not that it would have worked, he was just as quick to pull away. Sky stared at him speechless as he apologized. Her fingers moved and touched her lips that seemed to my tingling. That is all she has ever dreamed about, him just finally taking control, grabbing her and kissing her.

Sky didn't know what to say, how to respond. She let her hand fall to her lap as he moved away from her. Her heart felt like it was stopped and racing all at once. "Ollie..." she spoke. Her voice was smooth and quiet. "What... what was that?" She asked confused. She didn't know what to think, she just hoped he wouldn't just leave instead of staying to talk about this.

Skylar looked up at Ollie as he paced. She was worried and confused and she didn't know what she was supposed to do. How on earth was she supposed to respond to this? Her best friend had just kissed her, something that she had dreamed of, but he suddenly pulled away and was now pacing in front of her as if waiting for the cops to show up because he just murdered someone! She couldn't form words at the moment.

Sky stood as he continued to pace and wouldn't stay still. She was getting worried about him and why he has been so worked up these past couple of hours. She immediately frowned at his answer. She didn't like it very much. "That is not what I asked." She stated. Sky was getting frustrated with him not answering her and just pacing back and forth, back and forth.

Sky stared at him totally lost by his sudden question. Where had that come from? He was changing the subject which was driving her even more mad by the second! "I don't know Ollie. I have always felt this... warm sense of safety and presence around me. I have always imagined him as a wolf for some reason." She spoke in an unsure voice, still not knowing why he was asking. "And yes, I think it is male because it is a strong protective feeling I get. Almost like a guardian or something like that, always there to keep me calm." She clarified. "I don't know! It sounds stupid. But stop changing the subject!" Sky quickly snapped.

Sky ran her fingers through her hair in frustration, trying not to rip it out. "You shouldn't have kissed me?" She asked him in frustration which was clear. "Why not? Did you not want to? Because I don't know!" She asked. "I don't know what happened! You were fine one minute and then before the movie you became all skittish! And then you kiss me! And you can't say it was nothing either because there was something behind that kiss. There was some type of emotion behind that kiss Ollie." Sky started frustrated before she slowly calmed herself down as she spoke.

Sky didn't want to sound too hopeful that it meant something, but she wanted it to. She didn't want him to reject her though, which would probably happen. But she wanted answers, even if it isn't what she wants to hear. She needed to know. "Don't lie to me Ollie." Sky spoke in a voice that sounded as if she were pleading him not to do that to her.
