Katie winced. She hated seeing him deprived and felt a rush of guilt that she hadn't done something earlier.

"He's peaceful and kept me safe." Opal stated simply.

Jagger continued to stare the little girl in front of him. She wasn't wrong with the description but...she was so young! What did place did a child have in a war?

"Yeah, yeah I'm fine..." Her voice was quiet and she still hadn't looked up.

"'Course." Kyra focused on her senses, taking a deep breath. The sharp tang of devil and werekitty hit the roof of her mouth. She tilted her head, curious. Kyra relayed the information to Mars.

Kyra smiled softly, looking up at him. "I'm going to stay behind with Topaz and whoever else chooses to."

"Staying", Jasper mumbled. At times like this he wished he would have spent more time practicing fighting - like Sapphire. As annoyingly reckless as she was, her natural talent and skill was useful.

Kyra resisted the burst of indignation at being called 'kitty' and started moving forward with practiced stealth.

"Y-yeah" Jagger blinked, awakening from his thoughts.

She slowly lifted her eyes to meet his, looking more tired than before. "It's not your fault", Kyra sighed, "it's his."

"How long has he been asleep?" Katie asked, not wanting to interupt his rest if he hadn't had much.

"I doubt he would have let you. That almost too easy considering how he is..." Kyra squeezed Leera's hand gently.

Jasper moved to stand by his mother and brother, giving Topaz a half smile. At least he was in good company.

Sapphire eagerly strode forward, still holding Gamma's hand. This was thrilling!

Jagger felt slightly insulted at being called harmless but kept quiet.

"Do we have a place to put him or do we trust him to not try to run?" Kyra asked Mars, glancing at Jagger.

"There", she pointed ahead in a small clearing where two forms stood talking.

"Oh..." Katie wasn't sure what to do.

Kyra reflexively stepped in front of her two children.

Sapphire let go of Gamma's hand and bolted into the room, dodging several guards to target the scientists. Her eyes lit up blood red, the color she was about to paint those evil people.

"Agreed..." Kyra sighed. She was tired of being constantly on edge but at least that was one less thing to worry about.

Torrent flinched, eyes flicking to the two forms opposite of him and Leera. Who were they...?

Kyra locked eyes with the one she sensed was a werekitty. She had never met another werekitty and was very curious to see what he would be like. He gave her a slightly confused smile.

Katie shot Viktor and apologetic smile.

Kyra shrugged. "I am resting."
