"Well, we gotta have roles first," Coldfront said. "Alright, I can play as the assassin that assassinated the oldest heirs to the throne," the IceWing said. "I can play as the NightWing queen!" Eclipsewatcher offered. "Does anyone know who the NightWing queen is?" Coldfront asked, raising an eye ridge. The NightWing queen was a descendent of the queen who had participated in the beginning of the war (such a long war), but no one had ever seen her. The NightWings disappeared thirty years into the war, but everyone knew that they still existed. But they had no idea where the NightWings were hiding, and that included their queen.

"WHAT is going on here?" Peregrine's booming voice made Landslide jump to attention. Coldfront slipped and then he scrambled onto his feet. The enormous red SkyWing slithered into the cave, glaring down at them. "This doesn't look like studying," she said. Oh, yeah. They were supposed to be studying.

"We were studying," the grouchy RainWing said irritably. "We were acting out the death of the heirs that started the whole war," Heliconia said. "You mean play-acting," Peregrine growled. "You are too old for games."
"Were we ever too young for them?" Heliconia muttered under her breath.

"Look, we're s-s-s-sorry," Eclipsewatcher stammered. "No, we're not," Heliconia said, shooting a look at the NightWing. "And now you're talking back," Peregrine said. She looked smug, as she always did whenever one of the dragonets got in trouble. "But since I already do enough to you," the SkyWing said to Heliconia. "I suppose that it'll have to go to Flood. Flood would have to go without sleeping in the river tonight."
That's not fair! Eclipsewatcher thought. Coldfront once told them that if a SeaWing is deprived of water for a long enough time, they'll begin to go insane. What if going overnight without sleeping in the river would be Flood's downfall? The NightWing was worried.

"Oh, don't worry," Peregrine growled. "It could be worse." Then the SkyWing turned and left the Study Cave. Coldfront glanced at Flood sympathetically. "Sorry," the IceWing said. Peregrine was usually like this, so Coldfront wasn't surprised. He still felt bad for Flood, though. The guardians weren't very good dragons. Peregrine was violent, abusive, and cruel towards the dragonets. Solar was the same, except he was actually even stricter than Peregrine was. Paradise the RainWing was the only one who didn't really hit them, but Paradise was so lazy and all she ever did was sleep whenever she's done with whatever she had to do.
So overall, did the dragonets have very good opinions on the guardians?
Heliconia and Coldfront definitely didn't.

"Sorry, Flood," Landslide said gloomily. "We're really sorry," he said. "Well, we better get going," the MudWing said. "I'm pretty sure it's time for us to get back to our sleeping cave," he said. Heliconia nodded. "Hey, Eclipsewatcher, can you take the scrolls back to our sleeping cave?" the RainWing asked the NightWing. "Oh, sure!" Eclipsewatcher said, and then she quickly gathered up the scrolls and then headed out towards their sleeping cave. That was nice of her, Landslide thought. Then Heliconia turned towards the rest of them. "Gah, I can't stand this any longer!" she groaned. "We have to get out of here, and soon," she said.

Emerald stopped in front of the fallen branches. She looked up, and then she saw a couple of remaining branches above her. She used her vines, got up, and then got down on the other side. It was a more convenient way than to just climb the branches. Then she quickly continued her chase after the Vulpix.
