ALEXANDRA KRIEGER
"Take that!" was one of the first things Ali heard once she got back to her apartment from getting a pizza with Adelaide. Unsurprisingly, Otto was sitting on her couch, his elbows on his knees and his hands holding the Playstation 4 controller. Per usual, Fortnite was on her screen. Max was lying on the other end of the couch, his ears perked as he was watching Otto attempt to kick ass. "Again?" Adelaide asked as she walked toward the couch, sitting between Otto and Max. Ali simply chuckled as she made her way to the kitchen, placing the hot pizza box on the counter. "We have the pizza, Otto," she announced as she made her way toward the couch as well. She simply stood beside Otto's end, her arms crossed across her chest as she watched her older brother run across the map in an attempt to find more players to kill. "One second, Alex," he grunted.
Alex smiled and watched on for a few seconds before turning her attention to her dog, who was happily wagging his tail as Adelaide scratched his head, hitting all of the right spots that his back claws couldn't reach whenever he scratched himself. Walking behind the couch to Max's end, the blonde leaned over the back of the couch and planted a kiss on top of his muzzle, which earned her a small lick to the cheek. It was rather adorable. Suddenly, the semi-quietness of the apartment vanished as Otto was eliminated and his sudden outburst filled the room. Adelaide busted into a fit of giggles while Otto's face turned beet red from frustration. "I was so close, Addy! You don't understand!" Laughing, Ali turned on her heel and made her way back to the kitchen, patting Otto on his shoulder as she passed by his side of the sofa. "Next time, Otto, next time."
The trio filed into the kitchen and sat down on the black stools at the island, Adelaide quickly opening the pizza box and being the first to grab a slice, shortly followed by Alexandra and Otto. As they all began to chow down on their 9 pm dinner, Adelaide filled the silence by asking Ali what she had done during her business class today. It made Ali want to laugh, if she were being honest. Adelaide was only eighteen yet she was asking so many questions that there mother always asked whenever they got home from school. Swallowing the bite of veggie pizza she had in her mouth, she spoke. "Well, since the university partnered with another university in Japan, we were given the assignment of messaging a pen pal from that university. We're supposed to talk about the assignments given in class and stuff but all my pen pal and I have done so far is get to know each other. A man in front of me turned around and hushed me because my pen pal, Hana, was unbelievably drunk whenever she replied and her email made me laugh more than once. She's nice and the assignment is pretty cool, so I think this half of the semester might be as easy as they come," she answered.
Alexandra watched as Otto stuffed another bite of pizza into his mouth, probably rushing so he could get back to playing another match. Adelaide, on the other hand, was listening intently to what she had to say. She did ask the question, after all. "That sounds super fun, Alex! You'll have to tell her I said hello!" Ali chuckled but agreed. About an hour later, everyone had showered and were all in their pajamas. Adelaide had already fallen asleep in Alex's bed along with Max, whereas Otto was playing Fortnite once again and Alex was at her favorite place in the apartment: on the balcony. The blonde was watching the cars pass by underneath her while she sipped on a mug of hot tea, attempting to cool down and relax after her day was coming to a close. She was about to head inside and climb into the bed with Adelaid and Max whenever her phone chimed. Grabbing the smartphone, which had been face down on the round dining table, Ali flipped it over and looked at the notification.
1 email from Hana Sumeragi: Pen pal assignment.
Surprisingly to Alex, her heart picked up its speed as she unlocked her phone with her fingerprint. She brought down her notification screen and clicked on the email alert. What time was it in Japan, anyway? Did Hana feel okay after her night out? You barely know this girl and you're already concerned over her well being. Congrats, Alex, here's another thing for you to worry about other than Fynn attempting to crawl back to you, she thought. The twenty two year-old opened the email, quickly reading through it with a smile on her face that grew larger once she reached the photos. She clicked on the first one, expecting to see a picture of Momo as a kitten, but instead she got the package deal. Here Hana was, a tiny Momo resting on top of her head, but here Hana was.
Her heart jumped to her throat. This woman was incredibly beautiful and definitely not what she had been expecting at all. She stared at the picture for about a minute more, taking in the small details of the woman she was currently emailing. She was astonishingly, inhumanly attractive and Alex couldn't help but nip the inside of her cheek to get herself to snap out of it. She exited out of the picture and clicked on the next one, which was a more grown Momo, who was incredibly cute and adorable. Once Ali exited out of that photograph, she began typing her response.
Hana,
I have to say that first and foremost, you are incredibly beautiful. Definitely had me a bit starstruck if we're being honest here. Secondly, Momo is so adorable! I just want to wrap her up and cuddle her! Also, the compliment definitely made me blush, so kudos to you.
Poland is very beautiful! It's one of my favorite places, though I do have much more to see before I could say that. I've never been to Korea, England or America before. How are they? Nice and beautiful, I'm hoping, because they're definitely on my bucket list.
It's currently 10:46 pm here in Frankfurt. My brother and sister are staying with me for the weekend as they usually do. We never pass up on hanging out. I feel like I'm going to be hearing nothing but Adelaide's snoring and Otto attempting to get his first win on Fortnite all night long. Therefore, I'm on the balcony right now and getting some peace and quiet before I enter the warzone.
Oh, and for your hangover, try drinking some warm tea. That usually helps me, along with some ibuprofen.
From, Ali.
Alexandra glimpsed over the email in her poor attempt at proofreading before she clicked send. She placed her phone back down on the table once again, but this time with the face upward so she would be able to see the notification if Hana replied before she decided to go to sleep. She didn't have much to do tomorrow anyhow, so who knows whenever she would eventually decide that she needed to sleep. Needless to say, Ali's small smile didn't leave her lips until minutes later.
