The lab had been about to answer the SeaglassClanner when Phoenixcrown replied in a much smoother fashion than she would have used. Gratefully blinking at him, she nodded to back him up and turned to Heavenly. "Start whenever you'd like! This is mostly just a fun little event so we can bond with SeaglassClan, don't stress out! Although winning is always awesome." She grinned smartly at the end of her sentence and proceeded to shape the lump of sand in front of her into a tower of some sort.

Oh, facepalm. Of course, Kate was most likely the only one in the room who knew what a Familiar was. "Yes, it was a custom that we used back in SunClan when I was super young. Basically, it was a special tradition to have a smaller animal companion; like a pet, kind of, and you had a special bond with them." She paused, to catch a breath and also think of a way to add depth to her little explanation. [b]"For example, uhm, my old friend, he's not here anymore, but, yeah. He had a firefly Familiar named Camilla or something, and they were almost inseparable. She always helped him out and were always together. I bet with a bit of digging you can find enough info about that old custom to have a little class on old SunClan!" She smiled at Heavenlypup, tipping her head a bit. [b]"Only if you want, of course."

Kate didn't like the feeling of someone else's words abruptly enter her mind, but she made her way over to the group at the border anyways. Although she wasn't familiar with everyone here, there was no doubt about who was joining. Gazing at the joiner in question, she was struck by a feeling of recognition, although she had never seen the goddess before. Kate knew that she was in the presence of someone powerful - over the past year, her senses had become quite fine tuned and she found herself more aware of her surroundings.
The lab mix's blue eyes focused on the goddess' own green orbs, giving her a warm smile and wondering more about the mysterious fem. "Welcome to SunClan, I'm Kate. If you need a tour or have any questions, I'm always happy to help."

There weren't too many dogs in SunClan - of course there was a wide diversity of species, but Kate would say that the majority were felines. Seeing another canine, of course, gave the Labrador-shepherd mix herself a little jolt of excitement and she trotted over while humming a nameless tune to herself. As she reached the group and positioned herself next to Bronwyn, Kate would flash a warm smile to the cinnamon canine. He seemed lively and fun, someone who'd undoubtedly make a good companion to herself. "Welcome aboard, Brandon," she'd say in a sing-song voice, sending a sideways glance to the less than enthusiastic Tatsumaki. [b]"I'm Kate Silviance Winchester Mayella, but call me Kate. If you need anything, feel free to come to me!" She finished off in a lilting tone, tail wagging.

"It's okay! Neither do I. We'll be fine!" She smiled brightly at Rhett and Link, tipping her head a small bit and trying to recognize them. She didn't, but they seemed good natured enough. Then the lab mix would sink into a hunting crouch of sorts and creep forward, trying to catch the scent of bird.

The shepherd mix would give a dip of her head to the male, searching his mint green eyes for a second before looking at the rest of him. He was a german shepherd, which Kate found interesting because she was half of that. However, the side that really showed through her physical appearance was the black lab side, although her ears resembled Brandon's. Interesting enough. "Sounds good. Where are you from?" Kate was never one to just walk away from a possible conversation - she liked to be nosy, although she would've preferred to not use that term.

That was actually a good question - one that Kate didn't have the answer to. "I have no idea," she'd answer gravely, blue eyes full of nostalgia. [b]"Maybe we as the Commune guild could bring it back! I'm pretty sure it's part of our job description to implement new customs into the Clan." Of course, they'd have to check with Phantom, but the thought of bringing Familiars back brought a wave of hope crashing through Kate's chest. This was one change that she knew she'd like - it would make it feel like the old days again. Of course there wouldn't be the same people, but she did like the people who made up SunClan and seeing who they all chose as Familiars would be quite interesting.

Kate clapped her paws together and gleefully smiled as the leader gave her approval for the idea. Now that they were allowed to, that was a good question. The lab thought for a moment, her forehead furrowing and her blue eyes hardened. You couldn't just 'announce' a new tradition - technically, one could, but there were probably better ways to introduce the Familiars back. "Hm.." Suddenly, her optics brightened and she looked up with obvious excitement. [b]"Maybe we could tie it into your first lesson, Heavenlypup!" she'd exclaim, leaping to her paws. [b]"Start off by teaching the Clan about the custom, then explain how we can bring it back by finding Familiars of our own." She gazed at the fem, wondering what her reaction would be.

Par's technique was swift and neat, and Kate watched her with wide eyes. Nodding along with what she explained to Junkkit and Rhett, the lab would close her eyes and concentrate, willing a basket to appear. Conjuration wasn't her forte and she didn't use it often, because at times it could be quite draining, but as a medium sized basket popped into existence she grinned at her success. She'd hand it over to Par before she heard a rustling in the trees above her.
Instinctively, her line of sight flew upwards and she saw a small flash of gray feathers that disappeared upwards into the trees. Without much thought, Kate would use her muscular hind legs to leap onto a lower branch of the closest tree, scrabbling to hoist herself up so that she was half standing, half clinging to a branch. "Let's see how this goes," she grinned down at the other SunClanners, before attempting to climb the tree a bit higher.

Kate hadn't been there to see the ordeal, and it's good that she hadn't. Death was always a touchy subject for her, but when it was mixed with family it was double the pain and misery. All she saw as she came over was two bodies, one a familiar Clanmate and the other unfamiliar. From the looks of it, they'd gotten into a fight and resulted in not just one but two deaths. They both lost their battles. Her lips pursed together in a frown and she shuffled next to Jericho, her closest friend here. It had been a long while since she'd smelled the metallic, putrid stench of death and she hadn't missed it at all.
The lab didn't say anything, not wanting to puncture the heavy air. Instead, she formalized a simple rest in peace in her mind, squeezing her luminaries shut.

DarkClan - she hadn't been here since assisting BloodClan in their raid. The territory was pretty, Kate had to admit. It didn't compare to SunClan, of course, but it was very green and lush, leaving the impression of true nature in Kate's mind. However, she wasn't here to admire the woodlands. She was here with her Clanmates for her weekly task, which was to lead a raid - something she'd never quite done, but felt that her training had paid off a significant amount so that she would be ready for something like this.
Feeling motivated by the rush of adrenaline running through her veins, Kate would burst in accompanied by her Clanmates, dagger by her side and ready to be used. The lab's blue eyes were glittering with malice and she smiled wildly. "Come give some love to SunClan!" Kate would call out, lashing her tail with all of her senses working overtime.

Usually Kate's weekly tasks were some cutesy art lessons or craft sessions, but this week was different. Arthur had instructed her to hold a raid, and since SunClan hadn't seen DarkClan in quite a while, Kate decided it was time to pay their enemies a little visit.
Pacing around the center of camp and lashing her tail, the lab held her dagger close to her chest, a gift from Blacklight. This is for you, she thought to herself, gritting her teeth before raising her head and calling out to the Clan. "I'm leading a raid on DarkClan, anyone six months or older can and should participate." Adrenaline was pumping through her bloodstream, and a wild light reflected in her blue eyes.

This was not a good thing for Kate to show up late to, so when the black lab trotted in to all of her Clanmates in disarray, she dropped the prey that had been formerly clenched in her jaws onto the stone ground. Blinking her oceanic optics once, wondering if this was a dream, she walked over to the group of SunClanners, catching Yosafire's last words. "Til Phantom gets home?" the lab repeated, her brows furrowed in a confused expression. Looking around, she didn't see Immy here either. [b]"Please tell me she and Immy didn't leave all of us to go on a honeymoon!" She was half joking, but shouldn't they have told her if they were going to leave? Kate was one of the deputies, after all. She had the most authority out of everyone here. Looking around, she realized that someday, if she stayed the deputy and became leader, she would be in charge of everyone here. It was a huge slap in the face of reality, and she had a sudden doubt about herself before shaking it off. I can do this. I rock. Blinking one more time to clear her mind, she looked around. Start with the basics - find out what was going on. [b]"What's happening?"

Hearing Yosafire, Kate was struck with an image of herself from a few months ago. She had really grown in the past year, adjusting to her constant energy levels and managing to control herself. Still, there was seldom a moment when she wasn't moving, and as she came over to join the group at the border she sat down and kept her paws moving, drumming an imaginary beat. The lab would smile at the girl on the border without saying anything yet, seeing as she was flooded with words by her Clanmates.

Her attention turned to the Bengal who spoke first. Listening with wide eyes and trying to ignore the hazy pinkish-red mist at the corners of her vision, she bit her lip. She hadn't expected the day for her to take charge to come so soon. Shoot.
Kate tipped her head to the side ever so slightly and took a deep breath, gazing around at all of her Clanmates. "I can see," she commented, referring to the Clan's current state of hell. [b]"Oy! Everyone, let's stay rational. Phan couldn't have gotten kidnapped, we all know her, right?" The leader would never go down without a fight. [b]"Who's going to be in the search party?"

Although Kate didn't hear the vice-leader creeping up behind her, she hadn't been standing still, instead rotating slightly on the spot. Luckily for the young lab she caught sight of Admin through her peripheral vision and wasn't completely off guard. She attempted to duck, but wasn't quick enough and managed to get caught by the demoness. Kate would squirm around wildly, making sure that her dagger was still in hand before attempting to plunge the blade into her attacker's stomach. She'd try to use her own hind legs to kick away Admin's own while squeezing her eyes shut and focusing on summoning electricity, to the point where she was buzzing and would hopefully slightly electrocute Admin, aiming to shock her attacker to the point of releasing her. She was quickly running out of breath and hoped this would work.
