"that's a knight," he explained. "looks kinda like a horse, see? anyway, it's the only piece that can jump in front of other pieces, and it doesn't move in a straight line. it goes in a sorta 'L' shape."

as he had moved, his knight could take one of arcade's pawns in another move, if arcade didn't move the out of the way first.
