However, accents and foreign cultures were fascinating to her, and she did enjoy listening to other poeple speak. It just so happened that she thought herself clever and perhaps enjoyed hearing her own voice even more. |
Introductions were good, even when she was as cheeky as she was carefree, reckless. Hesitation wasn't a factor within her attitude, all strangers equal unless proven otherwise. Still, the white elk grinned, dipping her head carefully so as to keep her antlers centred and retain balance. [/fancypost] |

It was decided then, and she would adjust once more. Even if it had been so long since they had last seen each other.
How had they changed? Minaiben wasn't sure how much she had changed, as she hadn't matured much and her interests were still rather static. If anything, she was just as childish as she had been before, but slightly more graceful when battling. Maybe her speech skills had improved marginally, but otherwise she felt the same as ever.
But Samriel? Had her brother changed?
She could figure it out later, finally responding to his agreement.
"Great! You'll like it here, I do, and I'm picky."That wasn't really the case but it might have helped to ease the other. Hopefully.

Didn't think modesty was a virtue around here."
Teased the white halla, a mischievous twinkle in her eye at the joke. If anything, her own ego was somewhat to blame for the 'full-of-yourself' attitude present occasionally around camp. Still, Odessa didn't need to know that as knowing Minaiben for more than a few minutes would get you acquainted intimately with her opinions and false narcissism. Returning her attention to the new clanmate, the elk dipped her head in a half-bow, careful to angle her antlers back and avoid hitting anyone.
"Minaiben - always up for something to do, especially if it involves the murder of many, many trees."

[fancypost borderwidth=0px; height: 290px; width: 160px; background:url(http://i.imgur.com/cQSe2C4.png);][/fancypost]minaiben lavellen + single lady [fancypost borderwidth=0px; bgcolor=; width: 350px; overflow: auto; height: 300px;]Minaiben was settling in nicely, which was a problem; her problem laid with the words 'nicely' and 'settling'. For one thing, a lack of conflict put her on edge - she wasn't used to being able to relax, far too accustomed to a nomadic, solo lifestyle that very often put animals of prey into hazardous situations. She was used to being on watch, constantly alert because she had left the clan that had divided watch duties and she had adjusted as needed.
Secondly, because she was settling.
Minaiben Lavellan did not settle.
She was a wild sort, her white hair often tangled with whatever may have gotten stuck to her in her travels. It was hard to keep the lengthy coat clean, thick fur wonderful for lifesaving insulation but absolute hell for every other aspect of life. That was off topic though - the young halla craved adventure. She wanted something to occupy herself and her childish tendencies, which (being sixteen months old) had not forsaken her quite yet.So somewhere in between her yearning for adventure and now, Minaiben had managed to tangle in her wild hair the following things: an abundance of pine needles, a hefty helping of dyes (possibly from berries, maybe from unattended paint), and several dozen burrs and thorns. The usually passably clean halla was now filthy, and struggling to save herself from such a fate.
It didn't help that she wouldn't go past her knees in the water.
"I would shave this all off if it wouldn't be so cold! Fenedhis."Swore the Halla, trying to splash water on herself rather than going any deeper.

Her words had a biting edge to them, a warning. Minaiben did not read, could not read, but she understood on a very basic level the pain of losing someone who meant the world to you. While she didn't know the depths of Draco's affection for the deceased (hadn't known their relation) she could respect the need to have time to mourn.
"I'm sorry."It was blunt, and without tact, without much more to add other than that quick, sympathetic phrase. Minaiben hated it when people apologized, but at times like now, she could understand the need to offer support in such a universally understood way.
Ir abelas, she added mentally, more meaning in those words (at least to her own perspective).

Piped in the white elk, whose ease with strangers and social situations was likely inspired by her childish beliefs, her naivete that claimed that everyone was alright at heart. Minaiben had no reason to believe otherwise, not yet at least, so the arrival of someone new did not set off any alarms and she was alright with greeting the stranger with her usual friendly grin.

Managed Minaiben, whose eyes found themselves drawn to the emotionally stunted Draco, who was now drowning his sorrows in booze. Not exactly her preferred method of coping, but then again her method had included running away at speeds enviable by most predators and prey alike. Facing the Darkclan representative, Minai smiled in earnest, dipping her head briefly and feeling the heavily intertwined antlers above her bob in synchronization.
"It is."

I'm good, actually."
Minaiben struggled not to roll her eyes. Kili freaked her out a little bit, and she managed something equivalent to a pout when he said it wasn't a pleasure to meet any of them. Minai had met herself and she was fantastic, no two ways about it.
Wow, narcissism did wonders for your self confidence.
To Tauriel, the elk smiled and tilted her head just enough for her spiralling, intertwined antlers to tilt as well. No need to overdo her movements for right now.
"Well, at least he matches your fur."

However, digging into the wood gave her some wiggle room, and Minaiben managed to wrenched herself out of the frame. A few chips flew out of the wooden frame as well, but otherwise there was only a few marks that hinted to the halla having been trapped.
"Ma serannas - thanks. I kind of panicked a bit, not a big fan of getting stuck."

[fancypost borderwidth=0px; height: 290px; width: 160px; background:url(http://i.imgur.com/cQSe2C4.png);][/fancypost]minaiben lavellen + single lady [fancypost borderwidth=0px; bgcolor=; width: 350px; overflow: auto; height: 300px;]Ah, maybe there were too many people of a certain persuasion here, Minaiben observed. For a moment, she remained oblivious, but then Samriel's body language finally made it through her (admittedly unobservant) skull and the young halla understood how suffocated he must have felt. Her grin faded to a far more sincere smile, one not powered by her boundless excitement.
"Well, you might as well stay where I'm staying. Come on, there's plenty to see and I'm sure you're tired."An offering of a way out, and one that could bring Samriel some amount of time to adjust. Minaiben hadn't needed much time to get used to Boneclan, but she wasn't too invested yet either. Turning to lead the way, the elk looked over her shoulder, spanning antlers moving slowly along with the rest of her head - she erred on the side of caution with her headpiece, not trusting it and the proximity of tree branches - as she checked to see if Samriel would follow.

[fancypost borderwidth=0px; height: 290px; width: 160px; background:url(http://i.imgur.com/cQSe2C4.png);][/fancypost]minaiben lavellen + single lady [fancypost borderwidth=0px; bgcolor=; width: 350px; overflow: auto; height: 300px;]To the she cats who came up to her initially, Minaiben was inclined to agree. It was certainly an issue, especially considering that while Minaiben wasn't particularly finicky, she did enjoy feeling clean to an extent. She didn't require perfection in her grooming but preferred not feeling gross and itchy and like the little pine needles were poking her.
Another reason she despised trees, despite having the insatiable urge to climb them.
"It is ridiculously inconvenient at the least."
She huffed, leaning down to pry a burr from her pelt and spit it into the water. Soon enough, Dez was there and Minaiben couldn't help but grin a little wider at the feline. She liked Dez, thought her sense of humour was healthy enough to be good company."Help? That could possibly be... helpful."
Minaiben didn't have time to ponder her words, however redundant they were. Her face slipped into a deadpan, but before she could make a retort about her own conversational skills, the elk spotted her brother making his way over.
"Nooooo."
She groaned, face horrified by the presence of Samriel. She suffered through, and allowed him to help clean her. Now would be a good time to save face, and come up with a story as to why she was completely filthy."Well, you see, I had to try and climb this tree - I will do it one day - but it didn't work out so well, I tried to stack some paint cans, then my antlers got caught in the branches and bam! Everything came crashing down atop my head, save for the paint, which just got splattered."
Minaiben finished her story with a satisfied grin, no stranger to ill-advised adventures.

She hadn't seen anything quite like that as of yet, but was immediateky entranced by the ramifications of the process. There wasn't an immediate need to know more, beyond her aimless curiosity, but Minaiben was awed by the presence of the reborn Eric.
"Creators that was awesome. Does it hurt? Did you pass on, and come back?"Had he gone through the Fade only to return? Minaiben didn't know, but she was amazed regardless.

Spake the halla, prancing onto the battlefield without a single ounce of fear. She didn't have any fancy powers, but spotted YAKONA in what appeared to be a double team. With a grin, she contemplated whether or not she should tease them for being unfair, but chose instead just to barrel over and try and use her ornate antlers to knock the corgi over, maybe scoop him up or toss him to the side. When she laughed, it wasn't a manic or bloodthirsty laugh - she just genuinely enjoyed battle.
"Come on then! Let's have a fight!"

Minaiben dipped her head an increment or two, her neck a little sore from the shenanigans she had just returned from. The white halla paused by her brother, briefly wondering whether or not 'Ms.' was a natural part of these people's names, or whether it was a title of some sort. Once she was on that thought train, she vaguely recalled 'Ms.' being used as a title here and there, but shrugged and kept her thoughts internal.

[fancypost borderwidth=0px; height: 290px; width: 160px; background:url(http://i.imgur.com/cQSe2C4.png);][/fancypost]minaiben lavellen + single lady [fancypost borderwidth=0px; bgcolor=; width: 350px; overflow: auto; height: 300px;]Minaiben, had she the sense to try and See the nature of the stranger, might have been familiar. However, the halla was generally not a great planner, nor did she enjoy using the Sight (she didn't actually know the name for it, and it weirded her out as most magical things tended to). Therefore, she was just as lost as everyone else, though slightly in awe at the sheer amount of tails attached to the stranger's buttocks.
And she thought her antlers had been special.
"I think everyone else has got the questions covered, but..."
She did have a basic ability to sense with her Sight though, and while she didn't use it to its full potential, she had this odd notion that Xing was bright. Which, didn't make sense in a literal fashion but it was just a feeling she had and that word was best suited to describe it.
"Well, but nothing really. I'm curious as to who you are as well."No need to raise any alarms, the elk just rolled a shoulder uncomfortably.

If she was being frank, Minaiben was starting to get used to the seemingly deaths and the appearance changes, though it made her vaguely worried about what could be causing them, and what outcome they would have. Initially, she had just wanted to make sure Draco was okay. Despite not knowing him too well, he was a clanmate and Minai had a basic sense of loyalty towards those who called Boneclan home.
Then, his confusion only amplified her own, and the halla lowered her head and allowed herself to tilt it to the side. Her brown eyes narrowed, and she spoke again, unsure of what this could mean.
"Well, Boneclan naturally. You kind of live here? You alright there?"

Maybe you're not entirely right, but I dunno."
A nonchalant shrug emphasized the halla's point, and while the situation was odd, she didn't find it too concerning. Had this been someone she had nurtured a relationship with, yes, she'd be upset. But as is, teh dude seemed fine other than the apparent loss of memory. With a hum, Minaiben found her words and managed to formulate a question, leaning down to look directly at the feline.
"But you definitely live here, for at least as long as I have and probably a lot longer."

Mythal, she hadn't been expecting that. It was nice to hear that Xing wasn't a malicious spirit anymore, but...
There was always something about the otherworldly that have put Minaiben on edge. Mentions of the Beyond, powers of any sort, gods, demons - all of them made her feel far more uncomfortable than they had any right to. Perhaps it bothered her already wavering worldview, but for whatever reason the white halla dragged a hoof on the ground for a few moments, a nervous habit of hers.
"Glad you're not a spirit-douche anymore Xing."Her words rang a little hollow under the thinly veiled nerves she struggled to hide, but she happy indeed on that account.

[fancypost borderwidth=0px; height: 290px; width: 160px; background:url(http://i.imgur.com/cQSe2C4.png);][/fancypost]minaiben lavellen + single lady [fancypost borderwidth=0px; bgcolor=; width: 350px; overflow: auto; height: 300px;]Ceasefires were very good and all, in theory. Minaiben had very little experience with them, but suspected that they could be potentially hazardous. After all, who's to say you won't be betrayed? That the ceasefire will be ended early? It's not like you could punish someone for doing that, it's already war. But hey, the halla was cool with it if Christian said so.
Though honestly, she didn't feel an overabundant need to get involved with politics and a leader was kind of just an extension of the physical embodiment of politics.

Asked the halla, who trotted over and extended a leg, gently rolling a pumpkin under her hoof. Her brown eyes remained trained on the colourful object, and she contemplated briefly why it would be so gross. She supposed it made sense - there was a certain temptation, however, to bite down into the pumpkin and see for herself."Is it like 'oh hey, look at this strange object - think it'll taste nice'? Or is there more thought behind it?"
Minaiben wasn't really asking questions in an attempt to get answers, no more than she was just vocalizing her internal struggle with the situation at hand/hoof. Still, she eventually snaped her gaze up to look at her clanmate and say with a grin, "either way, they're orange and I like them."
