Yeah yeah, the herbivore wasn't a healer, stereotypes didn't always hold out - if predators could be healer then herbivores could be violent sons of bitches. [/fancypost] |

Justice was pretty important but so were rescue missions, and the elk was pretty big on going out and doing things. Even for people she didn't know, clanmates she had barely heard of. Alliances were funny things, and she had a basic loyalty concept, Minaiben's desire to go after the perpetrators pretty strong. Her head dipped again in a jerking movement, not as careful with her antlers as she usually was. If someone was going to be dragging of Boneclanners, it was only a matter of time before they came back, right? Minaiben wasn't big on politics, but she could understand the basic rules of fetch: bring back teh thing taken away.
Even feral dogs figured that much out.

Being stuck was being bored and being bored was a fate worse than death in the opinion of the elk. She would look down at the bobcat, but instead her eyes flared to try and spot the other, fighting the smile in favour of a pout worthy of a child much smaller than she.
"Hey, Minai's fine by me. I'd let you call me 'Squirrel' if it meant you'd help me get out of here."The elk scoffed, pulling down in a bit of a frantic push and only digging the edges of her mutated antlers into the wood further. She couldn't help her natural reaction to being stuck in such a place; it was panic inducing, for more reasons than one. Still, she tried to keep herself calm and only stamped a hoof once, smile going strong.

The elk was just lucky she wasn't bounding about like the idiot she was. Otherwise, the hoofed creature might have squished the poor guy. Instead, the white creature lowered her head, the twisted antlers so often associated with men actually graceful atop the reckless halla's head.
Minaiben smiled, awed at the innocence of the child.
"Hey da'len. You can stay if you want, no need to worry 'bout it. You alright?"Ugh, she wasn't motherly, she just... liked kids. Adored them, sympathized with them on several levels.

At least she hadn't tried tree climbing again.
No, instead the elk was caught in an unfortunate situation of a different breed. A lone cougar, not of any clan or alliance, had taken it upon itself to try and chow down on a bit of prime halla meat. This, within itself, was not unusual. It was the lengthy process of scaring off the mountain lion and subsequently thrashing about her head that had gotten Minaiben into trouble. Now, the elk was forced to stand on her hind legs just so she wouldn't be hanging from the tree her antlers had gotten caught in.
This shit was why she hated the twisted, grey-black horns that spanned elegantly from atop her head. Because who cared about whatever meaning they had, she was stuck in a tree. Hopefully, a clanmate would happen upon her first, as opposed to a stranger.
"If trees weren't inanimate, I would fight them too, for the love of the Creators!"

With a huff, the elk decided that this was no time to entertain a hungry cougar, a stubbornly uncooperative tree, and a frightened kid. She had been hoping to avoid such drastic measures, but she waited for the wildcat to jump forwards, claws outstretched for her legs.
Now, a thrashing elk, even a relatively small one like Minaiben Lavellan, was never a good sign for anyone. With a couple loud, foreign curses, she thrased and launched her hooves towards the mountain lion. A resounding crack sounded as the skull of the aggressor was cracked and the creature stumbled backwards, feral in its ways but dazed now and with a definite fracture.
Of course, that had hurt.
"Fight me when I'm not being held back, coward!"Spat the rogue, savouring the moments it would take for the feral cougar to regain its balance and ability to function. She smiled manically, enjoying the whole situation far too much to be reassuring. Hey, she'd send a smile to Dilly when she wasn't being suspended just high enough to keep her fore legs in the air.

Malevolence was close enough to demonic presence that Minaiben was weighing the odds of survival, what Xing could do, what he wanted.
She decided she was going to be far more careful if this thing was around."Gonna be honest, this is kind of freaky on at least six levels."
The elk admitted, stamping a hoof against the ground and ragging it, if only because of habit.

"I did warn him about trying to eat me. I always do, but apparently I'm too potentially tasty."As though that were her burden to carry, Minaiben rolled her eyes and probably would have moved her head along with them, had it not been caught in the branches of the evil tree. And yes, the tree was evil - they could have moral alignments and this one was obviously trying to get her killed. Soon enough though, the branches shattered, reigning down a few sticks and twigs on her head but letting all four hooves hit the ground. When Minaiben bowed her head, it served as a dual purpose - one, to allow her neck to rest and two, to show some gratitude.
Then, she was straightened up again, grinning like the entire thing was some greater victory.
"That was fantastic, thanks. People keep telling me to stay out of trees, but as you can see, we're neigh inseparable." An introduction was in order, wasn't it? "I'm Minaiben Lavellan - the other guy in the tree is Dilly. Dilly, you alright?"Remembering her owlish companion, the elk tilted her gaze upwards to check on him.

The curious elk dipped down her head, careful to pull back her antlers with a practised tilt as she leaned to inspect the strange thing.
Oh, she was being rude, wasn't she?
"What in the world are you?"Yeah, great etiquette, ultimate politeness. These things were not in the headstrong halla's vocabulary, nor were they in her arsenal of tools. Instead, she just turned with honest confusion at Downloading, perplexed by his existence.

[fancypost borderwidth=0px; height: 290px; width: 160px; background:url(http://i.imgur.com/cQSe2C4.png);][/fancypost]minaiben lavellen + single lady [fancypost borderwidth=0px; bgcolor=; width: 350px; overflow: auto; height: 300px;] Months. It had been months, and Minaiben still tried not to think too much about her clan. She figured that chapter of her life was over, especially considering the way she left. It had been childish of her, which had become expected of her and finally she had pushed too far and it was time to leave. At first, it has been terrifying - she hadn't thought she would ever want to leave her clan.
She almost enjoyed journeying on her own, despite the dangers inherent with doing so. She was quick though, and even though she was reckless she did enjoy living and soon enough she was doing well. She could defend herself proficiently. But loneliness was a powerful force and soon Minai had begun her search for a place to stay - a home base of sorts. Boneclan was working well, and was enough to stave off any homesickness she might have had.
Of course, she hadn't been expecting to see her brother on the border, looking out of place and a little nervous. Minaiben practically dashed to the border, shaking her head and carefully keeping back her antlers.
"I - Samriel? What? What are you doing here?Should he not have been with the clan? What would they be doing around here of all places?

I'll have you know that I am great at climbing."
Well, for a creature adapted as she was, Minaiben did what she could with what she had. Rocks were easier to climb than trees of course, and she wasn't a goat or anything but she could scale a mountain if she so desired (not that this had been tested... note to self...). The elk shook her head, the familiar balance frim above making her move slower than she wanted.Oh, strange? Not an impossible descriptor but definitely one she could apply easily to its accuser.
"Strange? I'm not the only one, Patches."That's right, the elk had jokes and nicknames for those who dared speak with her. At Dez's arrival, Minai felt her grin widen and a single brown eye winked in response to the other's observation.
"Hey, what can I say? The world is attracted to these beautiful antlers."

Really, she hadn't expected him to be - it wasn't like him to be angry in the first place, but the fact that he wasn't silenced what little doubt she may have had. The elk took a moment to appreciate his concern before realizing that oh she should probably say something.
"I'm alright Sam, no one's hurt me - well, no one I didn't hurt back. I'm fine."
She grinned, shaking out her hair as though the way she held herself proved her statement. Yet his next statement shocked her enough that Minai's eyes widened, her head lowered as though in conspiracy.
"You what?"He left the clan? Minaiben couldn't help the way her head jerked back a little, and a sense of urgency crept into the slender creature's usually carefree tone.
"Are you alright? I never thought you'd follow me I just thought -..." Thought hadn't been a prevalent part of leaving actually, the halla assuming it would be easier for her brother to go about his life without her reckless ways. Alarmed, Minaiben only now realized how her actions might have been perceived.
"Oh, I'm sorry. I never really thought you'd be too worried."A bit of a lie, but she was too sheepish to admit she hadn't thought things through.

Out of a general sense of boredom and dull hunger (what seemed to be the default mood for the elk) Minai situated herself nearby with every intent of participating.
"Alright, I'm in."She announced, carefully laying herself on the ground. She tended to take up a lot of space with her frame, even though she was slender by elk standards (not for a lack of trying - beefing up wasn't plausible, it seemed). With a grin, Minaiben was ready when the others were.

Of course, Minaiben wasn't really one to give two flying pinecones what everyone else was doing, so she felt herself slowly drifting away from the island of interest.
Until cannibalism was mentioned, and Minai tuned back in. Now, for an elk to eat another elk would be terrifying. A meat eating elk of any sort would scare her out of her antlers - but while there was a huge stigma around cannibalism, she didn't get the distinction for meat eaters. After all, they all ate meat. Everyone was made of meat.
She could see eating clanmates as messed up, but oh well.
As though the tension had suddenly inspired her to get creative, Minaiben flashed her trademark 'I-Don't-Know-What-I'm-Doing-But-Isn't-This-Fun' grin and spoke light heartedly.
"You know, I'm starting to get used to all of you weird meat eaters., though sometimes i wonder if you guys are used to yourselves. Grass is much less dramatic."

For whatever reason, cute things disarmed her, set her off of her game, so when the ill kid and his boyfriend embraced, the elk nearly had a conniption.
"Cute."She commented off hand, more to herself than anyone nearby. Straightening her neck and standing to her full height, the white halla paused for a moment, more, trying to find the right words to use for the occasion.
"Er, get better soon? Yeah, that. Plenty of people around if you need help."

Similarly, the halla had her own response that more or less encompassed her thoughts on the matter.
"Alright, safe travels! Insert generic goodbye here!"Man, she just needed to eat some grass and chill out,

Instead, the elk watched with intrigued brown eyes as the mechanical and anxious creatures interacted.
"Hey, da'len you're alright. The wind is not about to scoop you up and toss you aside, and though I'm sure we'll all very scary, none of us are going to eat you."Then again, there were many predators around... Minaiben shrugged and smiled without thinking too much into her own words.
"Well, probably not. Unless you're made of grass."
[/fancypost] -

Minaiben had caught the tail end of the conversation, since she had definitely not been prancing about in the woods. That wasn't a thing that halla did, especially not Dalish halla, nosiree.
She had just been chilling in the forest, looking for adventure when she came across the wildcat and snake tangled up in each other. She wasn't one to judge, jumping to a conclusion of a certain nature and letting her head jut upwards, brown eyes fixating on a tree branch."I can go, just thought I had heard the rustle of tree branches and thought my time had come to fight the trees."

Minaiben remarked, not really meaning anything by the comment. The halla paused next to Tauriel, grinning as she usually did, about as carefree as any sort of prey animal could be in a majority-meat eating clan.
Maybe she should have been worried by her easygoing attitude in the face of potential death but to be frank, the white elk was too chill to care. Instead of worrying about literally anything, the slender rogue waited for an answer from the stranger, curiosity her ally for the time being.

She hadn't really thought out the consequences of leaving, just as she didn't think through most actions, but she did feel incredibly bad about worrying Samriel so much.
What is this place?
Before Minai could answer, a vaguely familiar creature did so for her. Expression once again molded into a carefree grin, she shrugged and spoke with ease.
"Yes - it is Boneclan and I do have excellent taste. I'm kind of great."
Cheeky, as she was wont to be. Still, Dorian had brought up a good point - without being with their clan, Samriel would need a place to stay. A part of her wanted him to stay, of course. He was her brother, her only family and that meant a lot.
On the other hand, she was appreciating independence a little bit. It was weird being on her own but it left her able to do as she pleased. Still, the offer would be made."You could. Stay, I mean. If you wanted."
A hoof dragged itself on the ground, the halla unsure of whether or not Samriel would stay or go.
