[justify]why was this summer the 'worst summer ever?' well, let me tell you.

first, my grandmother passed away in may(?) and i wasn't even there. at first, i thought it was a miracle, because she was severely sick and treated me and my mother(aka my whole world) like utter trash. but then, as time continued, i began to feel guilty as i thought back to the good times, which were a very long time ago. then, my fluffy baby(dog) was hit by a car in july. it was so sudden and we were both in a lot of shock. one minute she was fine, the next she was dead in the road.

finally, my great grandmother passed away in july, the same month. her death hit me the hardest, as i had a deep bond with her. now i also feel guilty about her, as i began spending less and less time with her in the few years she had left. i didn't even get to say what i always wanted to.

and i feel like i have to mention that we're moving into her house. the same one she died in. i also have some other, minor issues, like how my dad's dog hates my guts. i'll probably put up a thread about that later. anyway, i just kinda feel stuck, and i'm afraid to talk to anyone about my feelings, so that wouldn't work out very well. so, there's not much else to do, other than wait until it blows off by itself.

[justify]Redleaf snoozed away in his den, unable to hear Hailpaw over his own loud snoring. Slowly he opened his eyes and blinked, trying to adjust to the sudden light of the morning, a yawn escaping his mouth. It took him a while to build up the courage to leave the comfort of his nest, eventually poking his head outside the den. As expected, there stood Mothpaw. A plump thrush was held between her teeth, calling out to Redleaf. He took it from her and turned his back, disappearing back into his den to eat in peace, leaving the apprentice standing outside.

Mothpaw sighed under her breath, again without a simple 'Thank you.' Now it was time for her to get something to eat for herself. She spotted Sunstar and Hailpaw standing together, probably ready to start heading out, quickly hurrying over to the two. "Wait! Have you eaten yet? You should eat something before heading out!" she insisted, wanting to make sure they were well-fed so they wouldn't be hungry while on their trip.

[justify]Cloudpaw spotted Cougarclaw by himself nearby, like usual. She didn't really talk to him much, but she had seen enough to say that he was very secluded, probably being the reason why she never really noticed him too often. This would probably be the first time talking to him. "Hey, Cougarclaw. You need help with anything?" she asked, walking over with her usual, friendly smile on her face.

[justify]Cloudpaw giggled quietly at his reaction. "I need a break, that's what I need." she joked, frowning when she realized her joke wasn't very humorous. Her humor was something that could be worked on, she supposed. "Anyway, how have you been?" maybe a quick chat wouldn't hurt. Then she'd go back to her duties.

[justify]"Oh, really? Are you sure?" Cloudpaw perked up, happy that at least someone was willing to help, the other apprentices seemed like bumps on a log. "Well, we could start by checking up on the elders, then go out and gather some fresh-kill." she listed them off as she headed towards the Elder's den, poking her head inside and glancing around. When one elder spotted her, they called to see if she could get some mouse-bile for a tick in their shoulder, to which she scrunched up her face but obliged.

[justify]Hearing sudden noises from the medicine cat den, Rainwhisper rushed over and ducked down to enter. Her breath caught in her throat at the sight. "F-Flamestar.." she whispered, joining the grieving cats with her head bowed. He served his clan and then died trying to defend it. If that wasn't a noble death, then she didn't know what was.

Littlestorm sniffed in disbelief, helping her up back to her paws, then trailing after Rainwhisper. Her grief was hidden behind her eyes as she stared at the bright ginger pelt through the crowd, quickly turning her head away. She wanted justice for his death, but it would probably end in her own death if she tried.

[justify]Cloudpaw returned with the bile and set the leaf down, smearing it over her paw then spreading it over the elder's shoulder, wiping the remaining bile off onto the leaf. With a quick "Thank you", the scraggly tom turned his head away, setting his chin down against the rim of the moss nest, ears flicking. She soon headed back out with Cougarclaw when the others didn't need anything. "Now to go hunting, right?"

[justify]Mothpaw quickly nodded her head at Sunstar's request. She'd be happy to bring something back for her! For now, she'd go and get Creekpaw, maybe set out to see if they could see the fox. They'd probably have to slip out through the dirt-place. The den felt a little stuffy, having to duck her head to avoid hitting the den ceiling. She slowly made her way over to the nest her friend was sleeping in, accidentally stepping on another apprentice's tail and turning around, apologizing to them. "Hey, Creekpaw. We fell asleep! Wake up!"

    [justify]//sure! maybe Cougarclaw gets a little jealous? c;

Cloudpaw was heading towards the camp entrance when she spotted Silverfur, starting towards the warrior's den. Hopefully where she'd be sleeping soon. "Hey, Silverfur! Come hunt with us!" she urged and walked over to his side, smiling brightly.

[justify]Cloudpaw laid her tail over Cougarclaw's back in reassurance. "Don't worry, Cougarclaw. It's okay." she soothed, wanting to help him out of his shell. Even though it made him uncomfortable, she would try to change his mind, but would go alone with him if he was still unsure.

[justify]A grin broke out on Mothpaw's face, following Creekpaw outside the den. She tried to hide her excitement and it worked quite well. Aside from the sudden twitches of her whiskers. When they made it out of camp without suspicion, she picked up her pace slightly, gazing over at her friend with big eyes. "C'mon! Before we miss it!" lacking any reply, she darted into the forest and nearly tripped over her own paws in the process.

[justify]Cloudpaw hurried after them with barely any struggle, swiftly gliding across the forest floor, the air warm on her fur. It was good to be out and about. She quickly skidded to a stop before she went over the bank and straight into the rippling current. The water carried the promise of fresh-kill, the fishy smell of, well, fish. She crouched down beside Silverfur and patiently waited with him, narrowing her eyes at the shapes swimming by.

[justify]The scents flooding the forest whirled around in Mothpaw's head, leading her off track for a moment, then caught the scent. It was growing in strength as they walked through, leaves crunching underneath their paws. She turned towards Creekpaw with a matching grin. Adrenaline rushing through her, she slowly crouched down and stalked towards the bush where the scent was leading, peeking out through the leaves, then tensing up at what she saw. A bright orange pelt caught the sunlight, almost blinding, with a long tail waving like a flag behind it.

[justify]Mothpaw shook her head. "I dunno! We could try and kill the kits when she leaves?" she turned to Creekpaw with a hopeless look, trying to think up a solution. Neither of them would like to try and mess with a fox's cubs, but there was no other option; expect to leave and find a new place to camp. But they couldn't just leave because they found a predator!

[justify]Cloudpaw giggled, patting Silverfur on the shoulder with her tail. "It's okay, Silverfur. You'll catch one!" she reassured, looking back down at the water and spotted the outlining of something swimming by, swiftly ducking her paw down and throwing a glistening silver fish into the open air. Catching it in her jaws, she killed it with a quick bite.
