Names didn't matter anymore as this was nothing but a wasteland full of rusted, crashed cars, eroded, crumbling buildings that used to hold thousands and thousands of bustling bodies, and the rotten pounds flesh that roamed the streets in search of a live meal- Walkers, the survivors of what's left of humanity had called them. Nobody knew what happened or how it happened when their loved ones had risen from their grave 6 feet underground. That's when shit hit it the fan, and it hit fast. Hundreds upon hundreds of people were already dead in a matter of hours, the death toll rising into the thousandths and then to the millionths. Parks, on the other hand, had no idea what was occurring six months ago, it was just another boring day sitting in the attic of an abandoned building she called home. With nothing but a dust-ridden couch, an old-school television, and half-empty beer bottles accompanied by cigarette butts scattered around the wooden floors, surprisingly Parks was content what was she had. As for another person, living in a space like that was really fucking pathetic. What could Parks say? It was the only place she didn't have to take shit from the human being known as her mom.

Soon everything had changed when the channels had been interrupted and the news was suddenly broadcasting. The anchorman was saying something about a sudden infection that caused the dead to rise. It was nothing but bullshit to Parks. Maybe it was because she was drunk, or maybe it was because it seemed like an absolute joke just to scare gullible idiots, but Parks paid no mind. Never would an apocalypse be possible in a million years, but that's was where she was wrong. Come that night, there was nothing but anarchy. the pitch black sky soon turned to red as the world set below her was lit aflame. you could hear nothing but the ear-splitting sound of car horns, the noise of delicate window glass shattering into pieces, and the booming voices of the raging citizens down below. it had honestly reminded her of that movie The Purge. whether it was the act of God himself, cleansing the world of the people diseased with greed and envy or just simply fate, this world was about to atone for its sins. The price for amends was death, and only the strong could survive.

That was Parks' cue to leave. Obviously the situation was more serious than she thought and it wouldn't be long until the military arrived to lay waste to any infected and enslave the survivors into their fucked up little project. Parks knew it was just a facade they were putting up. That 'protect everyone at all costs' mindset was just a front. They didn't mean that at all. All it was, was just a trick into getting innocent people into believing that the government was their saviors so they could brainwash their feeble minds and control them at will. Parks was not going to stick around to be apart of that. Sure, she had no real plan, but she'd figure something out as she departed the town.

Now that time was passed since the initial outbreak, Parks had been traveling nonstop. During her travels, the brown-headed female had managed to ransack a few abandoned shops and such, gathering a fair amount of supplies and a few cans of food that would hold her over for a day or two. there was no doubt she was tired, the dark circles under eyes accentuated the worn-out look that was present in her pale-green eyes. All that wandering had never really given Parks the time to sit down and rest. It was only until a day ago when Parks made the mistake of taking a break in a debris-covered alleyway. Let's just say the results weren't pretty. Apparently Parks wasn't the only one looking for a place of leisure. There was a dog. It was small and scrawny with matted fur sticking out in all directions. the canine wasn't really a threat in Parks eyes as she was quite fond of animals. The poor dog looked starved, a pitiful stare was visible in its wide, brown eyes. Parks felt bad for the it. She really did. And that's were she went wrong. Making the decision to pull out a can of beans from her scavenged backpack, Parks opened the can before handing it out to the dog. Mistake number two. As soon as Parks' dirtied hand reached to set the cans on the ground in front of the canine, the dog's jaws latched itself onto her fingers.

The pain was excruciating as it felt much like someone was taking a press and was crushing the bones in her finger and hands. it had happened so quickly, Parks didn't have the time to react. The dog threw her to the ground, it's teeth still placed firmly in her hand. She had managed to get a few hits in with her other hand, but the dog stood unfazed. The dog then made its way up to Parks' arm, head thrashing wildly in the process. She did get a second of freedom from the dog's grip as it let go to take another bite. Parks took this moment to place her foot under the dog's stomach and kick him a good distance away. As the dog was recovering, Parks rushed through her backpack and pulled out a small pistol. She had to think twice before making the choice to shoot the dog. as much as she hated killing animals, it had to be done. Without taking a third thought, Parks pulled the trigger on the weapon, firing two shots into the target in front of her. the dog soon fell limp with a light thud as the bullets entered its body. Parks hoped it was dead, not daring to make sure just in case it would lunge again, she wouldn't take that chance. Placing the weapon into her back pocket, Parks looked down at the aftermath that was her arm. It was ugly-looking with its torn-up flesh and skin, followed by the quick flow of blood. It made Parks sick just by looking at it.

Now, it was the next morning since the incident happened and Parks was still on the look for any type of medical supplies. Antibiotics, bandages, just anything that would somewhat aid her arm. It was numb now, blood dried around the wound in her hand and arm, and it was still disgusting to look at. All the other stores Parks had searched through were already wiped clean of whatever items it held, much to her dismay. What could she expect though? Everyone and their damn mother took more than what they needed and left what was useless. It didn't matter. the world was free-for-all now that everything had gone to shit. morals didn't exist to most.

Through the pointless walking, Parks had now thought, a building at the end of the road had caught her eye. It was a store- A weirdly placed one at that. It didn't match its surroundings like the structures around it did. It wasn't a big deal anyways. As long as it was a place for Parks to find something useful, she didn't care. Slowly advancing towards the building, Parks' eyes flickered back and forth in search for unwanted company. The area was clear as far as she could tell, so she continued to approach the small convenience store until she was fixed in front of the door. Parks took her uninjured hand and placed it on the grime-covered glass, carefully pushing it open. A small ding entered her ears as the bell placed above the door alerted the building of her presence. At that moment Parks entered the store she noticed a small female figure in front of her. Parks couldn't tell whether it was one of the walkers or another survivor, but one thing she know was that it meant trouble.

It's the year 2022 and the United States of America has undergone a radical change with unemployment and crime rates at all-time lows. To preserve this sense of prosperity, the governmental body, the New Founding Fathers of America organizes a yearly event called "The Purge" wherein all American citizens are encouraged to vent their negative feelings and urges within a twelve-hour time period between the evening of a selected date and the following morning. Adding to the disturbance is that, as seen in the reminder poster, all hospital, and police services are suspended in order to ensure The Purge is followed through. However, more extreme methods of destruction, such as obtaining WMDs or raiding the military, are still prohibited despite the Purge's otherwise lax setup.

Unfortunately for a group of high school students, they get pinned outside on this ruthless event. With nothing but a car to take shelter in and the simple clothes on their backs, nothing will prepare them for the horrors they have yet to witness. With the world around them as their enemies, it seems like there is little to no chance of the group surviving this night... Unless they choose to fight back. Engaging in a battle they solemnly swore to never take part in, these teens will learn what it really means to be alive.
