WILL THAT MAKE IT STOP?

dawn's gentle light was what woke the kittypet from her peaceful slumber, and she stretched as the amber rays filtered in through the windows of her housefolk's dwelling. pale yellow eyes cracked open, then blinked open fully as the kittypet rose to stand on four white paws. she sat down, glancing over at her elderly companion as she shifted restlessly against the solid form of their caretaker, who would remain asleep for as long as he was allowed to. the brown tabby glanced about the room, taking in the dark shapes of the housefolk's many pelts and blankets strewn about. she sighed, it would be a while before either her companion or her housefolk awoke, and it was already near time for her to leave.

padding gingerly across the bed, thicket leaned down to lick her elderly companion goodbye for the day, wrinkling her nose at the sour taste of dog. blech! she leapt off the bed and wove her way around the dark objects to the door of her housefolk's den. she paused, pricking her ears as she heard movement downstairs. good. the older housefolk were awake and would be able to feed her before she left.

thicket dashed down the carpeted stairs and turned into the kitchen, her claws skittering across the smooth wooden planks as the floor abruptly changed. meowing loudly, the young tabby wound herself around the legs of the housefolk most likely to feed her, the oldest male in the house. he reached down to pet her and she purred enthusiastically before she led him across the her food bowl, sitting down expectantly in front of it. as her housefolk spooned wet food into her bowl, thicket felt a brief flash of guilt at the thought of being so well fed when her friends were practically starving (eating crowfood, yuck!) but quickly dismissed the thought. if they were so hungry they could just get the housefolk to feed them, right?

breakfast was devoured in several quick bites and thicket exited the kitchen through her catflap, meowing a goodbye to the older housefolk who both called back to her on her way out. Once outside, thicket discovered today's best place to make dirt in the neighbour's garden before their burly bicolour was let out to terrorise the other kittypets (she could see him scrabbling at the window in his own kitchen right now).

the kittypet made a good pace through twoleg pace in the quiet morning, not having to dodge so much traffic as yesterday, and soon found herself in the construction site that had once been home to so many skyclan cats. thicket barely glanced at the machinery and disturbed dirt, passing through the site quickly to reach the forest and from then on the camp entrance.

as she passed through the camp entrance, thicketpaw noted with mild irritation that she had just about missed the dawn patrol. she'd been a daylight apprentice for four moons now and had only ever gone on three dawn patrols. as much as the other apprentices seemed to loathe the early patrol, thicketpaw envied them for the early morning bonding sessions that most of the clan got to partake in - and that she seemed to miss, no matter how early she woke.
