he was a little late to the party, but Subaru was glad that there wouldn't be any fighting. Her probably still be lurking around here for a while, but the vampire was glad that there was a new face around here, even if he wouldn't be able to bring himself to say it aloud. Jesus Christ, he felt like an old man standing off to the sidez watching as dustdevil started taking the reins of the empire with like, young power and stuff. At one time he'd been like that, when things were more peaceful and there were people he got along with both better and worse to keep him on his toes.
Just how many leaders had gone by in his time here...? Mary, Trojan, tsubomi, mikasa, hayley, nanna, reiji, Elise, silentkiss, Sutton....and finally himself. It was weird to think about it, but he hadn't really thigh of himself as leadership material to begin with. He was far too grumpy, too angry, too unsociable. He was not confident enough in himself that he could get his job done properly and without fail. And Subaru knew as much was true, but he had tried anyway. Probably failed, but at the time they'd needed him. And that was all he needed to know. Although he wouldn't be letting anyone else know that this time had probably changed him as a person. No one had to know who he used to be- just who he was now. Grumpy old Subaru, who'd been around longer than anyone else could remember.
The vampire game a small nod to the new empress, and although he didn't really smile (such was quite uncharacteristic for him) it was a sign that he was happy about this, if his expressions could be read correctly. Probably not, because he was a vague little shit. He was pretty grateful for the change, since he could be pretty judgemental towards himself. In short he would probably be looking forward to where this girl took the empire.
