Gale didn't even bother to say hi to his parent when he returned home. The most they offered was a grunt and a mumbled complaint. He trudged up to his room without a word and sank back into bed. It sucked that he had to live with people who could barely tolerate him, just because of who he was. He sighed, leaking back against the headboard. He wish Jay was here.

Gale blinked once he read the text. He wondered why Jay's parents were so strict with him. He was just texting after all. Sighing, he texted back, thats fine. Just don't get caught anymore, ok?
-
Gale's mind blanked for a second. He stared at the phone before responding confusedly, It's me, Gale. Did u erase my number or something?
-
Gale wrinkled his nose, puzzled. This was getting strange now. We just met a day ago. What's wrong? Is this a joke?
-
OOC: Sorry, I'm back lol. Been getting busy at my place over summer XD
IC: Gale couldn't remember being so confused before. Listen, you met me not too long ago. It's Gale. Why don't you remember that?
-
Gale's brow furrowed in confusion. Who on earth was "them?" no...he texted back, wary now.
-
Gale's jaw dropped open the moment he read it. There was no way... He was talking to someone who didn't remember him (his heart still stung) and who was being experimented on by scientists. Holy crap. Are you ok? Do they, like, do experiments on you? I had no idea this even existed
-
Gale swallowed disappointment and ran his fingers through his hair. He texted, No, I don't think we were close yet. Then he hurriedly added, But we could've been. I mean, I wanted to be close to you He felt embarrassed for admitting it but he sent the text anyway.
-
I did. Gale slumped back against the pillows, eyes disappointed as he looked down at his phone. But I can tell it probably won't happen. If they erase your memory again, what will you do?
-
Gale smiled softly at the words. He supposed this was the least he could do. If Jay couldn't remember, then Gale would have to remember for him. He texted back, Yeah, sure. Where do you wanna meet?
-
We did go to the park once, he admitted, texting back in more excitement now. We can meet there tonight if you have time. I'm not doing anything.
-
It's fine. I can wait :) Gale was up out of bed before he'd barely finished. Then he quickly snuck out of his house (easy without his parents) and out of the house.
-
Gale made it to the park and as soon as he saw Jay, he broke into a smile. "Hey," he managed, hands shoved into the pocket of his navy hoodie.
-
"Yeah, I'm Gale." Gale blushed charmingly under the compliment. "Thanks... You're just as cute as I remember you," he added teasingly.
-
Gale watched him sadly. "You really don't remember me, huh," he said softly. He kept his hands in his hoodie pocket.
-
Gale blinked, blush deepening a shade. "Um... Sure." Hesitant and bashful, he held out his hands in invitation. He hoped he wouldn't blush even harder when Jay touched him because that would just be embarrassing. He already had a crush on this guy and he didn't even know who Gale was.
-
Gale swallowed at the feel of their hands together, even for just an instant. "Maybe we could..." He trailed off, ears turning red at his unspoken suggestion. "Never mind. I don't think anything's gonna work."
-
Gale shook his head, toeing the pavement with his shoe. "Nah, it's stupid," he muttered. He didn't want to admit that he'd been thinking about hugging Jay, because seriously, Jay thought he was a stranger now. How was that going to make him feel more comfortable?
-
Gale raised his eyebrows. "What is it?" he asked curiously.
-
Gale stared at him, wide-eyed. "You...you want me to kiss you?" he repeated, shocked and face burning. "I dunno, Jay... You don't know me anymore. Are you really okay with that?" He rubbed the back of his neck in worry.
