OOC-
______________________________________________________________
He'd always known it would come to this. And why shouldn't it? A monster could only hold themselves back for so long before whatever scraps of humanity they'd once had were all but devoured by the demons inside, why should Oath be exempt from this law? It had been getting progressively worse ever since he got here, but there wasn't really anyone to blame that on. It was just who he was. His nature.
He wished he could understand it. Then it would at least be bearable. That question had always managed to elude him though. Why did he lose control, why did he hate them so much? He might be able to live with it all if he knew, but as it was now the warrior found his grip slipping. He didn't mind killing or death - they were needed to survive in a world like theirs and his apathy toward outsiders helped him in that aspect- but he was out of control.
He was out passed the border, about a mile away where the land evened out into grassland. He'd tried to resist when he'd first caught the scent out in the territory, had been determined not to go. But then it had gotten stronger, more then just one individual then, and he started to get restless. Angry. Maybe it was raid hitting a patrol? Maybe they hadn't been intercepted yet. And this turned into an excuse to go -only to check it out- but there was no stopping it. It snowballed out of control, and what was originally 'checking the border' became 'scouting ahead', and so on.
And now he wasn't even himself anymore.
He never was when he did this. Sure, he was still in there, angry and coherent, aware of all he was doing, but it was like the instincts and reactions weren't his. He was drained of all sense of judgment and moral, burned it all away in the hatred until all that was left was some bristling, hateful beast that just wanted them to hurt.
The scene wasn't a pretty one. He had caught the horse-drawn caravan off guard, not caring where their destination was or what purpose they had there. Not even what kind of people were inside.
The horse went down first, hind legs shattered by the bone in his tail. It's legs buckled and the caravan lurched as it went down, the screaming alerting the two 'guards' trailing in the back; wolves. Both were dispatched in a matter of seconds after they charged him simultaneously, the flash of his claws far worse then their bites. Another swift lash of his bludgeoned tail silenced the horse.
Swift, purposeful steps carried him around the caravan. He was tense and eager, red eyes aglow with anticipation and a feral bloodlust that was not usually there. He could hear the shuffling of bodies inside, could smell their fear, and the immense satisfaction this brought was like a drug he couldn't get enough of. There was no crazed smirk on his lips though, or delightful insanity on his features. He simply looked like an animal going for the kill; confident, eager, focused.
The door to the caravan opened just as he rounded the back. What he was met with should have made him hesitate, but it didn't. The cougar cubs ran to the back of the caravan as what appeared to be their mother lunged for Oath. He could hear them screaming and crying, but there was nothing left in him to care.
It was over in a matter of minutes.
Silence echoed across the grasslands, a grim omen. Oath dropped from the back of the caravan onto the ground, looking oddly subdued as he stepped over the lifeless body of the bloody cougaress. His eyes were no longer glowing red, but were instead glazed over and dull as he made his way to the edge of the carnage. His breaths came fast, and there was a tremble in his arms; he was slowly coming back to himself.
