OOC// a large portion of this reflects on Seoul and what he'd feeling. To those who don't know, Seoul is the ghost cat that follows N around. This thread will sort of give a bit of background on him, even though most of you (those without the sight) won't be able to see or sense him. Those who do have the sight are free to see him as a ball of silver light that follows N around, sort of like tinkerbell follows peter pan xD)
To be honest, Seoul thought it would be harder to come back than it actually had been. He wasn't talking about the physical act of coming back from the dead- latching his soul onto N's and being reborn with him had been the easy part, done almost subconciously if he was honest. His fading spirit had been so desperate not to fade away that when it had seen the almost blinding light that was N's he had grabbed onto it and held on with everything he was worth, burrowing in and clinging for everything he was worth. And it had worked. When N's soul had been called back from the void his own had gone along with it, bonding them together in the world of the living. Only, Seoul wasn't really alive. Not on this plane, at least. He could feel the wind and smell the grass, could even touch N as if he were a solid person and not some spirit, but that was all. He couldn't touch other people and they couldn't hear him when he spoke, he couldn't move objects and he couldn't eat or drink. It was like he only existed to the elements and to N, and in a way it was better than having come back fully. Because Seoul was still afraid, still broken from everything that had happened to him. He wanted to exist in the world without having to actually face it, and this ghost-form was perfect for doing just that. Nobody would ever be able to touch or hurt him again, and at the same time he was able to still remain without fading out into the blackness of that void.
Of course, a part of him would always feel guilty for manipulating N like this. The blue serval hybrid was his best friend at this point, the two having grown up together- yes, a weird concept consider Seoul was dead, but when he'd been brought back to the world of the living the connection between him and N had resulted in an age and body match, meaning that whatever age or animal N became, so would Seoul. Besides, he'd been a kid when he died anyways, so it wasn't like he had much world experience on his side. It was lonely and scary, and N was a good friend. Lying to him like this was hard sometimes, but it was Seouls own fears that kept it going. He didn't want to be hate or driven away, didn't want his only friend in the world to know he was just some scared and lonely parasite that had latched on like a tick to avoid a death that should have been permenant. Besides, he had his own motivation for things. It wasn't just that Seoul didn't want to go back. No, the boy was angry and hurt, and he wanted revenge on the people who'd done this to him. They'd taken his family, had ruined his home, had done unspeakable things to him. He was a boy, but he was also a vengeful spirit, and N was his weapon. The other boy was convinced that Helios had blessed the Arcanium family and given Seoul to him as a Guardin Angel, and the silver tabby exploited it in order to guide them in the direction they wanted. When he was older and stronger, Seoul would turn the blue serval into a warrior of justice that would wipe out anyone who meant harm to others, and maybe by the end of it they'd bring about some sense of justice and balance to the world. Letting N believe these things, it was for the greater good. The ends, they had to justify the means. And it wasn't like N hated it. The boy loved having a purpose and a higher calling, and he was keen to protect his friends, family, and anyone innocent. It was almost insane how perfectly the two seemed to fit together in order to achieve all of this, for surely any other person would have resisted more or questioned it more carefully.
Not N, though. His heart was just too pure.
---------------
The day was a beauty by any standards. He loved the warm weather that came with late spring, that transition into summer truly his favorite time of the year. Blue skies, sunshine, flowers in bloom, the green of the foliage- it was life in it's purest form, a true show of what Helios could do. And in this tranquility and warmth, N felt at home. Content and quiet the young tom was currently lounging on the sun, stretched out on a flat rock that was perfect for basking on. He'd been out to patrol and hunt and was just taking a bit of time for himself before he started his daily training session, something that was a bit of a rarity for him. There was usually too much to do for him to sit still like this, and he was enjoying it while he could.
"N, you awake?" Seoul would ask. The silver tabby cat was laying with his back to them, facing in the opposite direction. "Mhmm." the large blue serval would hum in response, eyes closed as he sat on the edge of dozing off. "I have a message from Helios."
N's eyes would flutter open and he'd turn to look over at his friend, suddenly attentive. He had learned long ago that Seoul couldn't speak to the God whenever they pleased, and rather it was Helios who would initiate the conversations between them. It was probably for the best though, otherwise N would have harassed the silver tabby with all kinds of questions to relay to the sun patron. "What does he say?" he asked, both expectent and nervous. Helios had only ever spoken to Seoul a handful of times, and usually it was important.
"He says your doing well, and.. and he has a new name for you." the silver tabby would explain, watching his friend carefully. "A new name? Why?" N asked, confusion plain on his face. It seemed like such a random thing for Helios to do, and while he was sure the God had his reason he couldn't decipher what they were for himself.
"Because the name you have now, it's the name of a warrior, a soldier. And that's not all you are to him. He- he wants you to have a real name too, a name that's just you." Seoul was sure he wasn't explaining it very well, but it was something that had been on his mind since they were both very young. When he'd been alive the silver tabbys village hadn't been like the clans. They'd had normal name's and had been normal people just living out their lives. They'd been farmers and carpenters and teachers, just regular folks. And it had always sort of bothered him that the clans had this tendency to name their children so oddly. Sugaredkisses, Jaymoon, Corrupttimelines. They were the mark of someone whose life was touched by the violence of living so close to other groups, titles bestowed at birth that marked them as warriors and healers and pawns to some great game. And he'd always hated it, just like he had always hated the name Novablast. It was why he'd started calling him N in the first place and he was damn glad it had stuck as a common nickname, because it was a constant reminder that Seoul was pushing his friend into fufilling the very role he hated so much, a role that would see him as just another pawn in someones game. So maybe it was another act of selfishness on his part, but he wanted to give them a name that was more than just a reminder of their fait, so that in the calm moments like this there could be some normalcy, some sense of the home he no longer had.
"A name that's just me." N would echo, his expression thoughtful as he tried to understand what his friend meant by that. Wasn't Novablast who he was? 'But it's not all you are.' he reminded himself. He was also chosen by Helios, perhaps just as much the Gods son as he was Suga and Sarangeral. Maybe in that respect, he could understand the God wanting to give him a name.
"He doesn't want you to stop being Nova," the silver tabby quickly added, tail twitching nervously as he tried to explain farther. "He just wants you to know that's not all you are. Your Namjoon too."
It was hard to deny Seoul of anything, if N were honest. He could feel the other boys emotions as if they were his own and he could detect their excitement and happiness as they spoke the name aloud for the first time. And it wasn't a bad name. Namjoon. It even had a decent ring to it, shorter than Novablast but not so impersonal as N was. He could probably get used to another nickname. "Okay.. Namjoon it is! Should I... you know, tell the rest of the clan?" he asked, not sure if it was meant to be something private or not, but Seouls eager nod was enough to confirm that he was meant to share it with the world.
"Yeah! It's like, your personal name. For you and your friends and stuff- it means talent from the south, you know!" the silver tabby would explain with a smile, glad that it seemed to be taking a hold on the other. And of course, being called talented had N - no, Namjoon straightening up somewhat, always happy to receive praise.
"Well, I guess it's kind of suiting then." he'd say with a grin as he got to his paws, the words playful.
Seoul would get to his paws as well, turning into a silver ball of light that went trailing after Namjoon as they padded back toward camp. Namjoon. Namjoon. Namjoon. Seoul felt a thousand times better each time he said the name in his mind. He had taken a long time thinking about what to call his friend, knowing he'd have to disguise it as a message from Helios. Lying never felt good, but it helped when the outcome was so favorable. Besides, Namjoon didn't seem to mind...
"Umm, I have a sort of personal announcement to make, for anyone who cares!" he called as he made his way back into camp, the large blue serval hesitating for only a moment before his resolve kicked in. He would be proud to have any name given to him by his God. "I've decided to take a middle name, and will herby be known as Novablast 'Namjoon' Arcanium. As my clanmates, your welcome to start calling me by Namjoon instead of N." he called out. "Uh, that's all!" he added quickly, dipping his head in a quick bow of thanks to the NPCs and others who had paused to listen.
