ebony paws sifted through stacks of files, each one about a different event that had happened. the clerks had to keep record of everything, from parties to broken pipes. somehow they'd all gotten disorganized, so he was the one in charge of redoing them. the red panda was in the middle of pushing a file from 1998 behind one from 1999, but a quick flash of light caught his eye. he ignored it, until the floating wisp illuminated his mocha optics once more. it sat, completely still in the doorway for only a few seconds before it disappeared again. curious as ever, the clerk pushed the files back on his desk and hopped out of the rolling chair, seat spinning behind him.

as it dashed away, telescopepaw bounded after it, ringed tail streaming out. he jumped down stairs, completely out of breath. the will-o'-the-wisp began to slow down and he did as well, alabaster ears laying flat against his head as he realized it led him to parallelpaw in the lobby. the feline was resting in one of the couches, seeming to be hard at work reading a book. tellie recognized the book; something about space he'd skimmed through before. the ailurus sprung onto the couch next to him, smiling sheepishly. "your ah, your friend led me here," he admitted, black-tipped tail wrapping around his paws.

the staff room. the clerk knew there had to have been one, given the blueprints he'd found and just basic common sense. once he found it, guided by a slowly but surely dying flashlight and the hardly readable, drink-stained blueprints, he pushed open the door with black paws. mocha eyes took a quick glance around before his eyes landed on a strange machine sitting atop the counter. he'd seen one of these before, in a book or on a poster... a coffee maker!

excitedly bounding towards it, the red panda jumped up on the counter and inspected it. the machine seemed simple enough to use, though he hadn't the slightest clue how to actually make the coffee. it smelled delicious, though, wherever it was stashed. "hey, guys! guess what i found!"
