He blinked in surprise. “Your almost 30?!” He couldn’t help but laugh at that. All humans look young to him but he really felt that hard to believe.
“Sorry, sorry. I really hope that’s a lie. I just can’t believe that humans age so slowly now.” He leaned back, trying to gauge her age. “At most I’d say your 20. Am I close?” It was amusing she was already trying to deceive him so early on in the game. Didn’t she distrust him so much? He may have been a stranger but he hadn’t thought that was something personal enough to warrant a lie.
-
“Yes. That’s the game. Alright then...” He pondered what her punishment would be.
“How about... do three jumping jacks. We’re just getting started so you may as well warm up your body along with your mind!” He said with another soft chuckle. He was glad she was playing along. He likes messing with humans.
“Then it’s your turn, what is it you would like to know about me?” He was sure there were a few questions on her mind about him. That’s why he liked this game so much. They could both learn about each other.
-
Sayomi smiled at her question.
“Are you sure that’s what you want to ask? You won’t be able to tell if I’m lying or not.”
Still he followed her gaze to the stars as he answered.
“Yes. My brother and I were said to hatch from an egg like a bird.”
He didn’t take his eyes off the sky, remembering his past.
-
He rested a hand on his chin, following her with his eyes as she moved down to the ground.
“Well then I’d have to be cursed as a baby.” He looked back at the stars for a moment. “I don’t remember a time when I didn’t have these wings and nobody ever told me where I got them. I suppose my ‘mother’ could have been cursed. But I’ve never met my real mother.” Her theory of his origin was interesting to say the least. Even he found it hard to believe he hatched from an egg. “But then what about him...?” He wondered aloud. “He’s more blessed than cursed.”
He slid down to the ground as well but didn’t press his back to the fountain.
“Alright then, what about your parents? What do they do?”
-
Sayomi watched as her expression grew sad and she seemed reluctant to answer.
Slowly reaching out he patted her head. “I’m sorry to hear that.” He mumbled, feeling a bit guilty for maker her so uncomfortable.
“Do you still want to play? You can ask another question if you like.” He hopes this entertainment wouldn’t be cut short.
-
He blinked at her. Couldn’t exactly say he liked to people watch.
“I’m here to study humanity and learn more about them. Should the day come when my people are really discovered we could be in grave danger. Humans are destructive after all.”
But he found his eyes wandering to the lights of the buildings once more. The glow danced in his eyes, they didn’t seem as cold as his words for how hard to read they were.
-
It wasn’t entirely the truth. He also wanted to come and watch the lights and buildings and people.
A few of the building lights turned off, last of the people leaving the office. As long as it was still dark when he left it was unlikely anyone would spot him.
“... so my turn to ask a question. Do you have any siblings?” He was a bit reluctant to ask more about her family life, hoping this wasn’t one that would make her uncomfortable.
-
Sayomi smiles at the question, tilting his head slightly as the subject cane up.
“Yes. My twin brother. He adores me you know? Loves me very very much. Makes an effort to stay in touch even though he’s part of a cult!” He laughed bitterly.
“Oh Akira... when will you pop into my life next?” He wondered and glanced at the sky as if expecting him to just appear out of thin air like Bloody Mary. Nothing happened however.
-
(Sorry I don’t have Internet right now so I’m only on sometimes when I find free wifi. I’ll try to reply to this soon)
-
“More or less. I’d say it’s a cult.”
Sayomi stood up as well, a little sad their chat was over. He hadn’t been entirely truthful with that last one. But if she wasn’t going to catch it then he wasn’t going to explain himself.
As he was about to take off he heard her speak again, asking to meet. She really was entertaining so he gave her a nod.
“Then, I’ll visit you again sometime.”
-
Sayomi once again took off into the air from his home, soaring to the bright lights. Spotting the same park from the other day he flew back down and lightly landed. He had brought a sweater with him, it being so chilly today. He slipped it on and his wings just seemed to dissapear under the fabric.
Taking a look around he found day fast asleep, curled under a large tree. “What on earth are you doing?” He mummbles and reaches over, patting her shoulder and giving her a small shake. “It’s not safe for you to sleep in a place like this.”
-
He backed off seeing her injuries, shocked. She seemed to be hiding it, Sayomi looked tense. He looked her up and down, no longer in the mood for a pleasant conversation.
“Day,” he started slowly, “what happened to your face? Why are you injured?” There was a bit of a dark tone to his voice, those shadowy eyes as unreadable as the other night.

(I was waiting for Emma to reply lol)
Touma stares at the storm for a moment before he turned to the sailors. “Is there anything you need me to do? It’s my duty to protect the prince.”
Mei gave a small shriek. “Who brought up storms!”
“... wasn’t that you?” Touma mummbled and Mei shrieked again to cut him off.
“We’ll be safer below deck, right? I’m going to find Sayomi!” She ran off before anyone could answer, rushing down the stairs.
“Shouldn’t she be more careful? She’s pregnant right?”
-
He shut his eyes a minute while he considered whether or not to press more. A bit reluctantly he gave a sigh. “Fine. Let’s sit down.” He walked ahead of her back to the fountain and sat down, staring at the water.
“What do want to do? We can play that game again, talk, whatever.”
-
He looked at her bruises again before turning away, trying not to stare.
“Alright then... you go first I can’t think of a question.” He looked to the surrounding trees, avoiding her face.
-
“... not my biological parents. The man that raised me was very cruel.” He glanced at her bruises again but turned to look at his own reflection.
“My brother and I had to earn our place there. If we didn’t we were punished severely. I did everything I could to protect him. But in the end...” He shut his eyes.
“I just. Wish I could have done something. I was a helpless kid. But I’m not like that now. Nobody can ever make me feel like that again and I have the strength to protect others.”
-
Sayomi gave a slight nod. “But it wasn’t all bad... my mother...” he dipped his fingers into the water.
“When I ran away from there a woman found me. She became my mother. If she hadn’t saved me I probably would’ve either died or be forced to go back to the man that used to hit me.”
He smiled at Day. “That’s why I’d want to help you too, if you’d let me.”
-
(Ah Sayomi s already below deck.)
Touma hummed, dissapointed he couldn’t help. But he had to get to his master. Touma hurried down the stairs after Mei.
Sayomi noticed the rocking getting worse. He stood up, opening the door, only for Mei to crash into him.
“Woah! Slow down, what do you think your doing?!”
“S-storm! Storm! There’s a storm!”
“Okay, alright, come sit down. Don’t stress yourself out.”
-
Sayomi furrowed his brow as she burst into tears. He wrapped an arm around her to let her cry it out. It reminded him too much of himself as a child. He did everything he could back then to pretend he was okay, but in the end he was powerless and he knew it.
“The others won’t like it much but... you can come with me. It’s kind of far away from the city. But it’s peaceful. The others can be... distrustful of humans. A lot of them have been wronged the was I was. We banded together over those experiences.”
He stood up taking off his sweater. As if like magic the large black wings appeared, stretching out after getting cramped under the cloth.
He wrapped it over her shoulders.
“What do you think? I have a car, believe it or not. I can drive you into the city for work if you’d like.”
-
Sayomi nodded. “I doubt you’d want me to kill him. Humans don’t like that type of thing, correct?” He chuckled as if he was joking but seemed completely serious.
“The next best thing I can do is take you away from him.”
“There are others like me. I can introduce you to them once we get there. They might be anxious around you but trust me, they’d never hurt someone under my protection. They’re good... just hurt. Maybe you can help them?” He spoke in a softer voice than before, wanting to reassure her.
