The wiry former WindClanner tilted her head to the side, eyes gleaming. "Honesty is a good quality amongst friends, I believe. Why don't you tell me about the idiots." she murmured.

"Why do you dislike them?" queried Glassgaze, having listened to the rant with only alert ears and a nod or two. Still of few words, she was at least making an effort.
-
She tilted her head curiously. "But... The leader's word is law, nonetheless. According to the code. And... How is it he knows you dislike him?"
-
Glassgaze seemed slightly puzzled by all of this, but shrugged. "It sounds like you might be in trouble... I can't think Skyvision would be happy about that. But I think she's off with Starbright." murmured the she-cat.
-
Glassgaze scrunched up her face, then shook her head. "Don't do what Starbright did. It crushed her. I know that. She talked to me a lot while we waited for you the first time." Then, scraping a paw along the ground, she continued to consider. "I don't think I can help you. But you won't lose your knowledge... Or StarClan, unless you do something really bad... And they reject you forever. Like, kill a leader or something."
-
"I am glad you have somewhere safe to go... You are not trained in a warrior skill set, after all." she murmured, and then Glassgaze let out a dry chuckle. "I'm sure it does take much to break you... Though it is hard to know your limits until you face them." She didn't mention another thing, but left it hanging. If their previous conversation was remembered, the medicine cat would understand. At least, understand her meaning - perhaps not her.
-
At that, Glassgaze let out a small laugh, but it held no hint of sarcasm. "Well, I suppose I'm trying to be your friend... Not your mentor. Or anything similar. I've made some strange choices too, I haven't any room to speak." She cast the medicine cat a wan smile. "You will face your limits if you take this path. Leaving your birth clan isn't easy... Be it by death or choice."
-
"I'm sorry. You have been strong." murmured Glassgaze, thinking carefully over her words. "But has RiverClan grown so hateful towards half-clanners that they would not allow you?" The smaller cat couldn't seem to fathom this.
-
Glassgaze shook her head roughly. "Can't say I approve of that. A kit can't control their birth." she muttered, more to herself than anything. The tiny former warrior then looked back at Dawnvision. "Well, my friend, I shall be here." She offered up.
-
"Rather glad I don't have to meet this cat. Death may have some benefits after all." Glassgaze replied. "I can try to talk to Skyvision for you... Though there's really no reasoning with her. You and her are entirely alike. Starbright may be more reasonable."
-
Glassgaze shook her head. "Can't do much to a dead cat, Dawnvision. We can injure, but not a whole lot more. I'll see what I can do if I encounter then. But perhaps taking your mind off things would help. Do you know how to hunt?"
-
Glassgaze didn't sound terribly cross when she replied, but her voice was a shade drier. "My medicine cat, when I was alive, did not know how. I was only asking. No need for hostility." she replied, then curled her tail up in a happier gesture. "Perhaps you would like to hunt, then. I find it calming."
-
"Well, perhaps a walk... If you're up to it?" Glassgaze's paws fidgeted slightly, then she realized they were moving, and snorted. "I'm sorry. Still a WindClanner at heart, I suppose. Never have been good at staying still."
-
Her paws seemed to move of their own accord, though she tried to keep herself from wandering too far from Dawnvision. "I was a fairly normal young cat. I used to be Russetpaw... But my leader found Glassgaze more fitting when I lost my sight. But WindClan, I do miss it. I miss some there, though many have since joined me in StarClan, it is not nearly the same. The moorland is wide open, and many clans fear the open spaces, a WindClanner thrives on it." A small, wistful sigh escaped her before she could bite it back. "I just remember it as home. I could have walked any inch of the moors in my sleep when I was alive... Before I lost my sight."
-
"Not too much to ask... But perhaps right now. A brief respite helps, at least?" Glassgaze offered up a tentative smile.
-
Glassgaze hadn't talked this much for moons. It left her pensive, her mind wandering, and as she looped by a shimmering puddle, she caught a glimpse of her reflection. Minor, light scars traced her face, what she'd kept of the scars from her blinding injury - and what had resulted as she'd tried to live her life, stumbling into jagged rocks and through thistles. It came to mind to wonder if she could call the scars back, like some did. Shaking her head, the red and white cat returned to her walking companion.
-
If Glassgaze was startled by this topic change, she didn't acknowledge it. "I would think so." she replied, her voice soft as she tried to think this over, not even commenting on Dawnvision's being a medicine cat. I'm a friend. Not here to judge.
-
Glassgaze had been turning the question over in her head, and so her reply came quickly, though she seemed rather ponderous as she explained herself. "When I was little, I remember hearing things. The elders always had advice. They'd tell us that it was better to love and lose... Then never to love. And I think that must be true. It's part of living, I think. It must be worth it in the end, because it is better to experience it, rather than to never feel it at all." She cut herself off, trying to keep from rambling. Spilling thoughts out wasn't an easy task.
-
"Heartbreak can't kill you, though it might feel that way. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, generally. It's worth it to have known." replied Glassgaze after a pause. Memories flashed in her mind, and she flinched slightly, wishing she could shrink away from her own mind.
-
"I think it would be. But I'll never know." Glassgaze replied softly, her gaze wandering across the grass. The forest was growing sparser, the grass taller. It felt closer to what she knew.
